Abstract Distal gastric cancer (DGC) is a subgroup of gastric cancer (GC), which has different molecular characteristics from proximal gastric cancer (PGC). These differences result in different overall survival (OS) rates; however, data pertaining to the survival rate in PGC or DGC are contradictory. This suggests that the location of GC is not the unique cause of the different survival rates, while the molecular characteristics might be more important factors determining the prognosis of DGC. Therefore, the aim of this study was to discover key prognostic factors in DGC using bioinformatic methods and to explore the potential molecular mechanism. The Cancer… More >

Abstract This study aims to detect the expression of selected circulating microRNAs (miRNA), including miRNA-451a, miRNA-486-5p and miR-10b-5p, and their prospective roles as biomarkers in patients with atherosclerosis. For this purpose, levels of miRNAs were detected by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) in case (N = 30) and healthy control (N = 30) groups. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was carried out to evaluate the diagnostic ability of miRNAs. The correlations of miR-451a with lipid parameters were evaluated using Pearson’s correlation coefficients. HUVEC tested by ox-LDL was used as a cellular model of atherosclerosis. Cell viability and apoptosis were… More >

    Yuan Liu1,2,#, Yun Jia3, Bing Zhang2, Anwen Liu1,*

    Oncologie, Vol.23, No.1, pp. 61-72, 2021, DOI:10.32604/Oncologie.2021.015906

Abstract Gastric cancer (GC) is the most common digestive system malignant tumor and second most common cause of cancer-related death. Even for the early gastric cancer, after radical operation, perioperative and postoperative chemotherapy the recurrence and metastasis are also high. 5-year overall survival of all GC patients is only 10–15%. Chemo-resistance still poses a major obstacle to successful treatment of GC. The aberrant expression of TUG1 (Taurine Upregulated Gene 1) was closely related to chemo-resistance and metastasis in many cancers. Here we over-expressed TUG1 in GC cell line SGC-7901 and MGC-803. We compared the migration ability and sensitivity of cisplatin (CDDP),… More >

DONGYUE ZHANG, LINA WANG, HAO WANG, XIAOQIAN LV, QIAN REN, GUOGUANG ZHENG*

    BIOCELL, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 149-156, 2021, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.010334

Abstract Legumain is a C13 family cysteine protease. It plays diverse roles under both physiological and pathological conditions. The high-level expression of legumain is detected in solid tumors. Legumain promotes the proliferation and migration of tumor cells. However, the effect of legumain in blood diseases has not been established. In this report, we studied the effect of legumain on leukemia cells by overexpressing it in THP1 cells. The results demonstrated that legumain promoted cell proliferation, whereas it had little effect on cell apoptosis. Furthermore, legumain promoted the migration of THP1 cells. It was worth noting that legumain decreased the stemness of… More >

Abstract In recent years, vehicular cloud computing (VCC) has gained vast attention for providing a variety of services by creating virtual machines (VMs). These VMs use the resources that are present in modern smart vehicles. Many studies reported that some of these VMs hosted on the vehicles are overloaded, whereas others are underloaded. As a circumstance, the energy consumption of overloaded vehicles is drastically increased. On the other hand, underloaded vehicles are also drawing considerable energy in the underutilized situation. Therefore, minimizing the energy consumption of the VMs that are hosted by both overloaded and underloaded is a challenging issue in… More >

An Efficient Algorithm Based on Spectrum Migration for High Frame Rate Ultrasound Imaging

    Shuai Feng1, Liu Jin1, Yadan Wang1, Wei Zhao1,2, Hu Peng1,*, Heyuan Qiao1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.2, pp. 739-754, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014027

Abstract The high frame rate (HFR) imaging technique requires only one emission event for imaging. Therefore, it can achieve ultrafast imaging with frame rates up to the kHz regime, which satisfies the frame rate requirements for imaging moving tissues in scientific research and clinics. Lu’s Fourier migration method is based on a non-diffraction beam to obtain HFR images and can improve computational speed and efficiency. However, in order to obtain high-quality images, Fourier migration needs to make full use of the spectrum of echo signals for imaging, which requires a large number of Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) points and increases the… More >

    Mohammad Aldossary*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 461-476, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014975

Abstract In a cloud environment, Virtual Machines (VMs) consolidation and resource provisioning are used to address the issues of workload fluctuations. VM consolidation aims to move the VMs from one host to another in order to reduce the number of active hosts and save power. Whereas resource provisioning attempts to provide additional resource capacity to the VMs as needed in order to meet Quality of Service (QoS) requirements. However, these techniques have a set of limitations in terms of the additional costs related to migration and scaling time, and energy overhead that need further consideration. Therefore, this paper presents a comprehensive… More >

    Ruijun Chai1, Sujie Shao1,*, Shaoyong Guo1, Yuqi Wang1, Xuesong Qiu1, Linna Ruan2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 471-482, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.013373

Abstract Long Range Radio (LoRa) has become one of the widely adopted Low-Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies in power Internet of Things (PIoT). Its major advantages include long-distance, large links and low power consumption. However, in LoRa-based PIoT, terminals are often deployed in the wild place and are easily affected by bad weather or disaster, which could easily lead to large-scale operation faults and could seriously affect the normal operation of the network. Simultaneously, the distribution characteristics of outdoor terminals with wide coverage and large links lead to a sharp increase in the difficulty and cost of fault recovery. Given… More >
