PF-YOLOv4-Tiny: Towards Infrared Target Detection on Embedded Platform

Wenbo Li, Qi Wang*, Shang Gao

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 921-938, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.038257

Abstract Infrared target detection models are more required than ever before to be deployed on embedded platforms, which requires models with less memory consumption and better real-time performance while considering accuracy. To address the above challenges, we propose a modified You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm PF-YOLOv4-Tiny. The algorithm incorporates spatial pyramidal pooling (SPP) and squeeze-and-excitation (SE) visual attention modules to enhance the target localization capability. The PANet-based-feature pyramid networks (P-FPN) are proposed to transfer semantic information and location information simultaneously to ameliorate detection accuracy. To lighten the network, the standard convolutions other than the backbone network are replaced with depthwise… More >

    Savaş Takan1,*, Duygu Ergün2,*, Gökmen Katipoğlu3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 6059-6082, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.039505

Abstract As digital data circulation increases, information pollution and manipulation in journalism have become more prevalent. In this study, a new digital journalism model is designed to contribute to the solution of the main current problems, such as information pollution, manipulation, and accountability in digital journalism. The model uses blockchain technology due to its transparency, immutability, and traceability. However, it is tough to provide the mechanisms necessary for journalism, such as updating one piece of information, instantly updating all other information affected by the updated information, establishing logical relationships between news, making quick comparisons, sorting and indexing news, and keeping the… More >

Research and Implementation of Credit Investigation Sharing Platform Based on Double Blockchain

    Yanyan Han1,2, Wanqi Wei2,*, Kaili Dou3, Peng Li2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 5193-5211, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037756

Abstract As the development of the modern economy is increasingly inseparable from credit support, the traditional credit investigation mode has yet to meet this demand. Because of the difficulties in conventional credit data sharing among credit investigation agencies, poor data portability, and centralized supervision, this paper proposes a data-sharing scheme for credit investigation agencies based on a double blockchain. Given the problems such as difficult data sharing, difficult recovery of damaged data, and accessible data leakage between institutions and users with non-traditional credit investigation data other than credit, this paper proposes a data-sharing scheme for credit investigation subjects based on the… More >

    Leilei Li1, Yansheng Fu2, Dongjie Zhu2,*, Xiaofang Li3, Yundong Sun2, Jianrui Ding2, Mingrui Wu2, Ning Cao4,*, Russell Higgs5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 3295-3307, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.035257

Abstract The knowledge graph with relational abundant information has been widely used as the basic data support for the retrieval platforms. Image and text descriptions added to the knowledge graph enrich the node information, which accounts for the advantage of the multi-modal knowledge graph. In the field of cross-modal retrieval platforms, multi-modal knowledge graphs can help to improve retrieval accuracy and efficiency because of the abundant relational information provided by knowledge graphs. The representation learning method is significant to the application of multi-modal knowledge graphs. This paper proposes a distributed collaborative vector retrieval platform (DCRL-KG) using the multimodal knowledge graph VisualSem… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2123-2140, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034431

Abstract Machine learning is a technique for analyzing data that aids the construction of mathematical models. Because of the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable sensor devices, gesture interfaces are becoming a more natural and expedient human-machine interaction method. This type of artificial intelligence that requires minimal or no direct human intervention in decision-making is predicated on the ability of intelligent systems to self-train and detect patterns. The rise of touch-free applications and the number of deaf people have increased the significance of hand gesture recognition. Potential applications of hand gesture recognition research span from online gaming to… More >

    Saifur Rahman Sabuj1, Mohammad Saadman Alam2, Majumder Haider2, Md Akbar Hossain3, Al-Sakib Khan Pathan4,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1053-1089, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024078

Abstract This paper discusses the significance and prospects of low altitude small satellite aerial vehicles to ensure smooth aerial-ground communications for next-generation broadband networks. To achieve the generic goals of fifthgeneration and beyond wireless networks, the existing aerial network architecture needs to be revisited. The detailed architecture of low altitude aerial networks and the challenges in resource management have been illustrated in this paper. Moreover, we have studied the coordination between promising communication technologies and low altitude aerial networks to provide robust network coverage. We talk about the techniques that can ensure userfriendly control and monitoring of the low altitude aerial… More > Graphic Abstract

A Deep Learning-Based Crowd Counting Method and System Implementation on Neural Processing Unit Platform

Yuxuan Gu, Meng Wu*, Qian Wang, Siguang Chen, Lijun Yang

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 493-512, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035974

Abstract In this paper, a deep learning-based method is proposed for crowd-counting problems. Specifically, by utilizing the convolution kernel density map, the ground truth is generated dynamically to enhance the feature-extracting ability of the generator model. Meanwhile, the “cross stage partial” module is integrated into congested scene recognition network (CSRNet) to obtain a lightweight network model. In addition, to compensate for the accuracy drop owing to the lightweight model, we take advantage of “structured knowledge transfer” to train the model in an end-to-end manner. It aims to accelerate the fitting speed and enhance the learning ability of the student model. The… More >

    R. Ann Caroline Jenifer*, M. A. Bhagyaveni, V. Saroj Malini, M. Shanmugapriya

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 2165-2176, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.031840

Abstract Fifth generation (5G) wireless networks must meet the needs of emerging technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), Vehicle-to-everything (V2X), Video on Demand (VoD) services, Device to Device communication (D2D) and many other bandwidth-hungry multimedia applications that connect a huge number of devices. 5G wireless networks demand better bandwidth efficiency, high data rates, low latency, and reduced spectral leakage. To meet these requirements, a suitable 5G waveform must be designed. In this work, a waveform namely Shaped Offset Quadrature Phase Shift Keying based Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (SOQPSK-OFDM) is proposed for 5G to provide bandwidth efficiency, reduced spectral leakage, and… More >
