    V. S. Vaisakhi1,*, D. Surendran2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 181-193, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032514

Abstract In signal processing and communication systems, digital filters are widely employed. In some circumstances, the reliability of those systems is crucial, necessitating the use of fault tolerant filter implementations. Many strategies have been presented throughout the years to achieve fault tolerance by utilising the structure and properties of the filters. As technology advances, more complicated systems with several filters become possible. Some of the filters in those complicated systems frequently function in parallel, for example, by applying the same filter to various input signals. Recently, a simple strategy for achieving fault tolerance that takes advantage of the availability of parallel… More >

    Zhiwei Lin1, Tianding Chen1,*, Yingtao Jiang2, Hui Wang1, Shuqin Lin1, Ming Zhu2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 2145-2164, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.035555

Abstract Directly applying the B-spline interpolation function to process plate cams in a computer numerical control (CNC) system may produce verbose tool-path codes and unsmooth trajectories. This paper is devoted to addressing the problem of B-spline fitting for cam pitch curves. Considering that the B-spline curve needs to meet the motion law of the follower to approximate the pitch curve, we use the radial error to quantify the effects of the fitting B-spline curve and the pitch curve. The problem thus boils down to solving a difficult global optimization problem to find the numbers and positions of the control points or… More >

    T. Merlin Inbamalar1,*, Dhandapani Samiappan2, R. Ramesh3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 1899-1913, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.031202

Abstract Conferring to the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) survey, 85% to 99% of people are affected by spinal cord tumors. The symptoms are varied depending on the tumor’s location and size. Up-to-the-minute, back pain is one of the essential symptoms, but it does not have a specific symptom to recognize at the earlier stage. Numerous significant research studies have been conducted to improve spine tumor recognition accuracy. Nevertheless, the traditional systems are consuming high time to extract the specific region and features. Improper identification of the tumor region affects the predictive tumor rate and causes the maximum error-classification problem.… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 1273-1282, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.030765

Abstract The next step in mobile communication technology, known as 5G, is set to go live in a number of countries in the near future. New wireless applications have high data rates and mobility requirements, which have posed a challenge to mobile communication technology researchers and designers. 5G systems could benefit from the Universal Filtered Multicarrier (UFMC). UFMC is an alternate waveform to orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM), in filtering process is performed for a sub-band of subcarriers rather than the entire band of subcarriers Inter Carrier Interference (ICI) between neighbouring users is reduced via the sub-band filtering process, which reduces out-of-band… More >

    QIAOJIN JIA1,2, YUEJUN FU1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.3, pp. 627-645, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.026182

Abstract Background: The immune system of insects exerts fundamentally different antiviral mechanisms than mammals. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) play vital roles in developing insect antiviral immunity. MiRNAs expression profiles of insects changed significantly during baculovirus infection. Methods: Differential expression profiles of miRNAs in Spodoptera frugiperda were monitored by next-generation sequencing (NGS) and RT-qPCR during Autographa californica multiple nucleopolyhedrovirus (AcMNPV) infection. The transcription levels of genes were detected by RT-qPCR. The 50% tissue culture infective dose (TCID50) endpoint dilution assay was used to determine the proliferation of progeny virus. Results: NGS revealed that 49 miRNAs were differentially expressed in Sf9 cells, and 10 of… More >

MiR-194-5p suppresses the warburg effect in ovarian cancer cells through the IGF1R/PI3K/AKT axis

    LIJUN DU1, KAIKAI DOU1, NIANHAI LIANG1,2, JIANMIN SUN1, RU BAI1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.3, pp. 547-554, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.025048

Abstract Background: The Warburg effect is considered as a hallmark of various types of cancers, while the regulatory mechanism is poorly understood. Our previous study demonstrated that miR-194-5p directly targets and regulates insulin-like growth factor1 receptor (IGF1R). In this study, we aimed to investigate the role of miR-194-5p in the regulation of the Warburg effect in ovarian cancer cells. Methods: The stable ovarian cell lines with miR-194-5p overexpression or silencing IGF1R expression were established by lentivirus infection. ATP generation, glucose uptake, lactate production and extracellular acidification rate (ECAR) assay were used to analyze the effects of aerobic glycolysis in ovarian cancer… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 2617-2633, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034370

Abstract Engineering and applied mathematics disciplines that involve differential equations in general, and initial value problems in particular, include classical mechanics, thermodynamics, electromagnetism, and the general theory of relativity. A reliable, stable, efficient, and consistent numerical scheme is frequently required for modelling and simulation of a wide range of real-world problems using differential equations. In this study, the tangent slope is assumed to be the contra-harmonic mean, in which the arithmetic mean is used as a correction instead of Euler’s method to improve the efficiency of the improved Euler’s technique for solving ordinary differential equations with initial conditions. The stability, consistency,… More >

LncRNA PRRT3-AS1 exerts oncogenic effects on nonsmall cell lung cancer by targeting microRNA-507/homeobox B5 axis

RUI ZHOU#, JIANYANG XU#, LINGWEI WANG*, JIANXIN LI*

    Oncology Research, Vol.29, No.6, pp. 411-423, 2021, DOI:10.32604/or.2022.026236

Abstract Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) act as key regulators controlling complex cellular behaviors in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We investigated the expression of lncRNA PRRT3 antisense RNA 1 (PRRT3-AS1) in paired samples of NSCLC and adjacent normal tissues from a patient cohort in our hospital using real-time quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and found that it was significantly higher in NSCLC tissue than in normal tissue, consistent with The Cancer Genome Atlas database. Furthermore, functional investigation revealed that lncRNA PRRT3-AS1 depletion inhibited NSCLC-cell proliferation, colony formation, invasion, and migration, whereas its overexpression exerted the opposite effects. Moreover, PRRT3-AS1… More >
