    Awais Khan1,2,*, Shahid Bashir1, Salman Ghafoor3, Hatem Rmili4,5, Jawad Mirza6, Ammar Ahmad1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 911-925, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033866

Abstract Mutual coupling reduction or isolation enhancement in antenna arrays is an important area of research as it severely affects the performance of an antenna. In this paper, a new type of compact and highly isolated Multiple-Input-Multiple-Output (MIMO) antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) applications is presented. The design consists of four radiators that are orthogonally positioned and confined to a compact 40 × 40 × 0.8 mm3 space. The final antenna design uses an inverted L shape partial ground to produce an acceptable reflection coefficient (S11 < −10 dB) in an entire UWB band (3.1–10.6) giga hertz (GHz). Moreover, the inter-element isolation… More >

A Novel Mixed Precision Distributed TPU GAN for Accelerated Learning Curve

    Aswathy Ravikumar, Harini Sriraman*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 563-578, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034710

Abstract Deep neural networks are gaining importance and popularity in applications and services. Due to the enormous number of learnable parameters and datasets, the training of neural networks is computationally costly. Parallel and distributed computation-based strategies are used to accelerate this training process. Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN) are a recent technological achievement in deep learning. These generative models are computationally expensive because a GAN consists of two neural networks and trains on enormous datasets. Typically, a GAN is trained on a single server. Conventional deep learning accelerator designs are challenged by the unique properties of GAN, like the enormous computation stages… More >

    Jiahao Wen, Zhijian Wang*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.1, pp. 749-765, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.023865

Abstract Since the existing prediction methods have encountered difficulties in processing the multiple influencing factors in short-term power load forecasting, we propose a bidirectional long short-term memory (BiLSTM) neural network model based on the temporal pattern attention (TPA) mechanism. Firstly, based on the grey relational analysis, datasets similar to forecast day are obtained. Secondly, the bidirectional LSTM layer models the data of the historical load, temperature, humidity, and date-type and extracts complex relationships between data from the hidden row vectors obtained by the BiLSTM network, so that the influencing factors (with different characteristics) can select relevant information from different time steps… More >

    Nebras M. Sobahi1,*, Ahteshamul Haque2, V S Bharath Kurukuru2, Md. Mottahir Alam1, Asif Irshad Khan3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 5757-5776, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.028340

Abstract Increasing renewable energy targets globally has raised the requirement for the efficient and profitable operation of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. In light of this requirement, this paper provides a path for evaluating the operating condition and improving the power output of the PV system in a grid integrated environment. To achieve this, different types of faults in grid-connected PV systems (GCPVs) and their impact on the energy loss associated with the electrical network are analyzed. A data-driven approach using neural networks (NNs) is proposed to achieve root cause analysis and localize the fault to the component level in the system.… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 2705-2720, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.025941

Abstract Interconnected cells, Configurable Logic Blocks (CLBs), and input/output (I/O) pads are all present in every Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) structure. The interconnects are formed by the physical paths for connecting the blocks . The combinational and sequential circuits are used in the logic blocks to execute logical functions. The FPGA includes two different tests called interconnect testing and logical testing. Instead of using an additional circuitry, the Built-in-Self-Test (BIST) logic is coded into an FPGA, which is then reconfigured to perform its specific operation after the testing is completed. As a result, additional test circuits for the FPGA board… More >

Analysis of the Influence of the Blade Deformation on Wind Turbine Output Power in the Framework of a Bidirectional Fluid-Structure Interaction Model

    Ling Yuan1, Zhenggang Liu2,*, Li Li3, Ming Lin1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.5, pp. 1129-1141, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.023538

Abstract The blades of large-scale wind turbines can obviously deform during operation, and such a deformation can affect the wind turbine’s output power to a certain extent. In order to shed some light on this phenomenon, for which limited information is available in the literature, a bidirectional fluid-structure interaction (FSI) numerical model is employed in this work. In particular, a 5 MW large-scale wind turbine designed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) of the United States is considered as a testbed. The research results show that blades’ deformation can increase the wind turbine’s output power by 135 kW at rated working conditions.… More > Graphic Abstract
