    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.3, pp. 6107-6124, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.024722 - 14 January 2022

Abstract In this paper, the estimator-based Global Positioning System (GPS) attitude and angular velocity determination is presented. Outputs of the attitude estimator include the attitude angles and attitude rates or body angular velocities, depending on the design of estimator. Traditionally as a position, velocity and time sensor, the GPS also offers a free attitude-determination interferometer. GPS research and applications to the field of attitude determination using carrier phase or Doppler measurement has been extensively conducted. The raw attitude solution using the interferometry technique based on the least-squares approach is inherently noisy. The estimator such as the… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3693-3712, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017461 - 06 May 2021

Abstract A carefully planned software development process helps in maintaining the quality of the software. In today’s scenario the primitive software development models have been replaced by the Agile based models like SCRUM, KANBAN, LEAN, etc. Although, every framework has its own boon, the reason for widespread acceptance of the agile-based approach is its evolutionary nature that permits change in the path of software development. The development process occurs in iterative and incremental cycles called sprints. In SCRUM, which is one of the most widely used agile-based software development modeling framework; the sprint length is fixed… More >

    Dah-Jing Jwo*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 2105-2126, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.014241 - 26 November 2020

Abstract In this paper, the Global Positioning System (GPS) interferometer provides the preliminarily computed quaternions, which are then employed as the measurement of the extended Kalman filter (EKF) for the attitude determination system. The estimated quaternion elements from the EKF output with noticeably improved precision can be converted to the Euler angles for navigation applications. The aim of the study is twofold. Firstly, the GPS-based computed quaternion vector is utilized to avoid the singularity problem. Secondly, the quaternion estimator based on the EKF is adopted to improve the estimation accuracy. Determination of the unknown baseline vector… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.117, No.5, pp. 249-265, 2020, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.011024 - 07 September 2020

Abstract The energy coming from solar radiation could be harvested and transformed into electricity through the use of solar-thermal power generation and photovoltaic (PV) power generation. Placement of solar collectors (thermal and photovoltaic) affects the amount of incoming radiation and the absorption rate. In this research, new correlations for finding the monthly optimum slope angle (OSA) on flat-plate collectors are proposed. Twelve equations are developed to calculate the monthly OSA by the linear regression model, for the northern and the southern hemisphere stations from 15° to 55° and –20° to –45°, respectively. Also, a new equation More >

Complementary Kalman Filter as a Baseline Vector Estimator for GPS-Based Attitude Determination

    Dah-Jing Jwo1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 993-1014, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011592 - 20 August 2020

Abstract The Global Positioning System (GPS) offers the interferometer for attitude determination by processing the carrier phase observables. By using carrier phase observables, the relative positioning is obtained in centimeter level. GPS interferometry has been firstly used in precise static relative positioning, and thereafter in kinematic positioning. The carrier phase differential GPS based on interferometer principles can solve for the antenna baseline vector, defined as the vector between the antenna designated master and one of the slave antennas, connected to a rigid body. Determining the unknown baseline vectors between the antennas sits at the heart of… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.4, pp. 685-698, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.09673 - 11 August 2020

Abstract The determination of the circulation for wind turbine blades is an important problem in engineering. In the present study, we develop a specific approach to evaluate the integral that represents mathematically the circulation. First the potentialities of the method are assessed using a two-dimensional NACA64_A17 airfoil as a testbed and evaluating the influence of different integration paths and angles of attack on the circulation value. Then the method is applied to blades with different relative heights in order to provide useful reference data to be used for the optimization and reverse design of wind turbine More >
