DETERMINATION OF RADIATION HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT OF STANDING HUMAN BODY MODEL BY NUMERICAL APPROACH

Ahmad Najjaran1, Ali R. Tahavvor, Abdolkarim Najjaran, Mohammad A. Ahmadfard

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.3, No.3, pp. 1-6, 2012, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v3.3.3007

Abstract In this paper, external radiation heat transfer coefficient and flux of a standing human body model are calculated for different emissivity coefficients and various temperature differences. To do this, a standing human body sample is designed in such a way that hands and feet are totally open and stretched. Soles are in contact with the ground and so do not have heat transfer. The results are extracted by weighted average method. Despite the existence of the air around the body in reality, the convection heat transfer of human body with the surrounding air is neglected in order to prevent errors… More >

DETAILED ANALYSIS OF AN ENDOREVERSIBLE FUEL CELL : MAXIMUM POWER AND OPTIMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE DETERMINATION

Alexandre Vaudreya,*, Philippe Baucourb, François Lanzettab, Raynal Glisesb

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.3, No.3, pp. 1-8, 2012, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v3.3.3001

Abstract Producing electrical work in consuming chemical energy, the fuel cell (FC) is forced by the 2nd law to reject heat to its surrounding. However, as it occurs for any other type of engine, this thermal energy cannot be exchanged in an isothermal way in finite time or through finite areas. As it was already done for various types of systems, including chemical engines, the fuel cell is here studied within the finite time thermodynamics framework. An endoreversible fuel cell is then defined, internally reversible but producing entropy during heat exchanges with its ambiance. Considering usual H2/O2 and H2/air chemical reactions… More >

    Liulei Hao1, Hongjun Yu1,*, Licheng Guo1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.08918

Abstract To overcome the harsh experimental conditions of determining the mode-II critical energy release rate GIIC, a flexible experiment-simulation method for determining GIIC is proposed based on the mixed-mode fracture experiments and the corresponding simulations by the mixed-mode phase-field model. In details, a mixedmode fracture experiment is first conducted to obtain the initial crack deflection angle. Subsequently, a series of phase-field simulations are conducted by altering the value of GIC/GIIC to reproduce the experimental result so as to determine the value of GIIC with a known GIC. Three mixed-mode fracture tests (single edge cracked circular test, central crack rectangular tension test… More >

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.17, No.3, pp. 195-208, 2023, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.023259

Abstract This paper sums up the determining analysis of the measuring location of Trefl using a thermocouple during the thermography tests. Laboratory temperature distribution testing methods, analysis of value and location of Trefl measurement are explained in this paper. The heat source is two halogen lamps of 500 watts each fitted at a distance of 30–50 cm. Noises appearing during testing of thermography are corrected with measured Trefl value. The results of thermogram correction of corroded concrete surfaces using Trefl values are displayed in this paper too. The concrete surface temperature results of quantitative image processing method are compared to the… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.7, pp. 1515-1540, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.029024

Abstract Two novel improved variants of reptile search algorithm (RSA), RSA with opposition-based learning (ORSA) and hybrid ORSA with pattern search (ORSAPS), are proposed to determine the proportional, integral, and derivative (PID) controller parameters of an automatic voltage regulator (AVR) system using a novel objective function with augmented flexibility. In the proposed algorithms, the opposition-based learning technique improves the global search abilities of the original RSA algorithm, while the hybridization with the pattern search (PS) algorithm improves the local search abilities. Both algorithms are compared with the original RSA algorithm and have shown to be highly effective algorithms for tuning the… More > Graphic Abstract

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.3, pp. 5307-5319, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031848

Abstract Social media networks are becoming essential to our daily activities, and many issues are due to this great involvement in our lives. Cyberbullying is a social media network issue, a global crisis affecting the victims and society as a whole. It results from a misunderstanding regarding freedom of speech. In this work, we proposed a methodology for detecting such behaviors (bullying, harassment, and hate-related texts) using supervised machine learning algorithms (SVM, Naïve Bayes, Logistic regression, and random forest) and for predicting a topic associated with these text data using unsupervised natural language processing, such as latent Dirichlet allocation. In addition,… More >

    Hongtao Liu1, Maoxian Xiong1, Bo Zhang2,*, Junfeng Xie1, Jinrui Deng1, MifengZhao2, Ruijing Jiang1, Yushan Zheng1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1709-1720, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025513

Abstract Pitting corrosion often occurs due to the presence of various corrosive substances, such as CO2 and H2S, in the pipe service environment. As a result of this process, the residual strength of oil pipes is reduced and this can compromise the integrity of the entire pipe string. In the present work, a model is introduced on the basis of the API579 standard to determine the so-called stress concentration coefficient. The model accounts for pitting corrosion shapes such as shallow semi-circles, semi-circles, and deep semi-circles. The relationship between the corrosion pit depth and opening diameter and the residual strength of the… More >

Determination of Monitoring Control Value for Concrete Gravity Dam Spatial Deformation Based on POT Model

    Zhiwen Xie, Tiantang Yu*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2119-2135, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.025070

Abstract Deformation can directly reflect the working behavior of the dam, so determining the deformation monitoring control value can effectively monitor the safety of dam operation. The traditional dam deformation monitoring control value only considers the single measuring point. In order to overcome the limitation, this paper presents a new method to determine the monitoring control value for concrete gravity dam based on the deformations of multi-measuring points. A dam’s comprehensive deformation displacement is determined by the measured values at different measuring points on the positive inverted vertical line and the corresponding weight of each measuring point. The projection pursuit method… More >
