    Dah-Jing Jwo*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 2105-2126, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.014241

Abstract In this paper, the Global Positioning System (GPS) interferometer provides the preliminarily computed quaternions, which are then employed as the measurement of the extended Kalman filter (EKF) for the attitude determination system. The estimated quaternion elements from the EKF output with noticeably improved precision can be converted to the Euler angles for navigation applications. The aim of the study is twofold. Firstly, the GPS-based computed quaternion vector is utilized to avoid the singularity problem. Secondly, the quaternion estimator based on the EKF is adopted to improve the estimation accuracy. Determination of the unknown baseline vector between the antennas sits at… More >

    Abstract

In order to play a positive role of decentralised wind power on-grid for voltage stability improvement and loss reduction of distribution network, a multi-objective two-stage decentralised wind power planning method is proposed in the paper, which takes into account the network loss correction for the extreme cold region. Firstly, an electro-thermal model is introduced to reflect the effect of temperature on conductor resistance and to correct the results of active network loss calculation; secondly, a two-stage multi-objective two-stage decentralised wind power siting and capacity allocation and reactive voltage optimisation control model is constructed to take account of the network loss… More > Graphic Abstract

    Energy Engineering, Vol.117, No.5, pp. 249-265, 2020, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.011024

Abstract The energy coming from solar radiation could be harvested and transformed into electricity through the use of solar-thermal power generation and photovoltaic (PV) power generation. Placement of solar collectors (thermal and photovoltaic) affects the amount of incoming radiation and the absorption rate. In this research, new correlations for finding the monthly optimum slope angle (OSA) on flat-plate collectors are proposed. Twelve equations are developed to calculate the monthly OSA by the linear regression model, for the northern and the southern hemisphere stations from 15° to 55° and –20° to –45°, respectively. Also, a new equation for calculating the yearly tilt… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.34, No.1, pp. 23-32, 2019, DOI:10.32604/csse.2019.34.023

Abstract One of the most well-known and used algorithms for Steganography is Least Significant Bit (LSB) substitution. Although LSB has several advantages such as simplicity, efficiency, and easy-to-do implementation, it has some distinct disadvantages such as it openness to miscellaneous attacks. In this study, we aim to improve the traditional LSB algorithm by eliminating its main disadvantage, being easy to detect, and this way propose an enhanced LSB algorithm called E-LSB. We mainly aim to minimize differences which are due to encryption and image hiding steps in LSB algorithm and make it more difficult to notice that some text has been… More >

Complementary Kalman Filter as a Baseline Vector Estimator for GPS-Based Attitude Determination

    Dah-Jing Jwo1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.65, No.2, pp. 993-1014, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.011592

Abstract The Global Positioning System (GPS) offers the interferometer for attitude determination by processing the carrier phase observables. By using carrier phase observables, the relative positioning is obtained in centimeter level. GPS interferometry has been firstly used in precise static relative positioning, and thereafter in kinematic positioning. The carrier phase differential GPS based on interferometer principles can solve for the antenna baseline vector, defined as the vector between the antenna designated master and one of the slave antennas, connected to a rigid body. Determining the unknown baseline vectors between the antennas sits at the heart of GPS-based attitude determination. The conventional… More >

Abstract The determination of the circulation for wind turbine blades is an important problem in engineering. In the present study, we develop a specific approach to evaluate the integral that represents mathematically the circulation. First the potentialities of the method are assessed using a two-dimensional NACA64_A17 airfoil as a testbed and evaluating the influence of different integration paths and angles of attack on the circulation value. Then the method is applied to blades with different relative heights in order to provide useful reference data to be used for the optimization and reverse design of wind turbine blades. As shown by the… More >
