    Hongtao Liu1, Maoxian Xiong1, Bo Zhang2,*, Junfeng Xie1, Jinrui Deng1, MifengZhao2, Ruijing Jiang1, Yushan Zheng1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1709-1720, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025513

Abstract Pitting corrosion often occurs due to the presence of various corrosive substances, such as CO2 and H2S, in the pipe service environment. As a result of this process, the residual strength of oil pipes is reduced and this can compromise the integrity of the entire pipe string. In the present work, a model is introduced on the basis of the API579 standard to determine the so-called stress concentration coefficient. The model accounts for pitting corrosion shapes such as shallow semi-circles, semi-circles, and deep semi-circles. The relationship between the corrosion pit depth and opening diameter and the residual strength of the… More >

Abstract To thoroughly study the extinguishing effect of a high-pressure water mist fire extinguishing system when a transformer fire occurs, a 3D experimental model of a transformer is established in this work by employing Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS) software. More specifically, by setting different parameters, the process of the high-pressure water mist fire extinguishing system with the presence of both diverse ambient temperatures and water mist sprinkler laying conditions is simulated. In addition, the fire extinguishing effect of the employed high-pressure water mist system with the implementation of different strategies is systematically analyzed. The extracted results show that a fire source… More > Graphic Abstract

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.4, pp. 1715-1729, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.024023

Abstract The interface properties of Fe(101)/zinc silicate modified by organo-siloxane (KH-570) was studied by using the method of molecular dynamics simulation. By calculating the temperature and energy fluctuation of equilibrium state, equilibrium concentration distribution, MSD of layer and different groups, and interaction energy of two interface models, the influencing mechanism on the interface properties of adding organosiloxane into coating system was studied at the atomic scale. It shows that the temperature and energy of interface oscillated in a small range and it was exited in a state of dynamic equilibrium within the initial simulation stage (t < 20 ps). It can… More > Graphic Abstract

    Muath Awadalla1,*, Kinda Abuasbeh1, Yves Yannick Yameni Noupoue2, Mohammed S. Abdo3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.3, pp. 2767-2785, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024036

Abstract This study focuses on the dynamics of drug concentration in the blood. In general, the concentration level of a drug in the blood is evaluated by the mean of an ordinary and first-order differential equation. More precisely, it is solved through an initial value problem. We proposed a new modeling technique for studying drug concentration in blood dynamics. This technique is based on two fractional derivatives, namely, Caputo and Caputo-Fabrizio derivatives. We first provided comprehensive and detailed proof of the existence of at least one solution to the problem; we later proved the uniqueness of the existing solution. The proof… More >

Application of an Artificial Neural Network Method for the Prediction of the Tube-Side Fouling Resistance in a Shell-And-Tube Heat Exchanger

    Rania Jradi1,*, Christophe Marvillet2, Mohamed-Razak Jeday1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.5, pp. 1511-1519, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021925

Abstract The accumulation of undesirable deposits on the heat exchange surface represents a critical issue in industrial heat exchangers. Taking experimental measurements of the fouling is relatively difficult and, often, this method does not lead to precise results. To overcome these problems, in the present study, a new approach based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used to predict the fouling resistance as a function of specific measurable variables in the phosphoric acid concentration process. These include: the phosphoric acid inlet and outlet temperatures, the steam temperature, the phosphoric acid density, the phosphoric acid volume flow rate circulating in the… More >
