    Brya Aldawoodi1,*, Salaheddin Sabri1, Abdulmounem Alchekh Wis2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.5, pp. 1269-1285, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.017445

Abstract This study aims to determine the most convenient calcination temperature and calcination duration of waste-stabilized Adobe (AB) to produce a new alkali-activated binder. Waste-stabilized Adobe mainly consists of soil, CaCO3 as a stabilizer, and straw (for strengthening). The availability of raw materials for making Adobe presents the waste-stabilized Adobe as a potential product for a new alkali-activated binder. Waste-stabilized Adobe collected from an abandoned damaged building in the village of Inonu in Northern Cyprus, ground and calcined at the following temperatures: 450, 550, 650, 750, 850, and 950°C. The calcination at each temperature was held for different durations 1, 3,… More >

Experimental Synthesis of Polyacrylic-Type Superabsorbent Polymer and Analysis of Its Internal Curing Performances

    Jin Yang1,2, Wen Liang1, Xingyang He1,2,*, Ying Su1,2, Fulong Wang1, Tie Wang1, Jianxiang Huang1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 15-27, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.018135

Abstract A solution polymerization method has been used to synthesize a polyacrylic-type superabsorbent polymer (SAP). The influence of various influential factors, such as the temperature, neutralization degree, cross-linking agent, and initiator, on the water absorption capacity of SAP has been investigated. The results show that the absorption can display a non-monotonic behavior depending on the synthesis conditions. The absorption can also change according to the pH, ion types and ion concentration. As the pH value increases, the water absorption capacity decreases significantly. It also decreases if the Na+ concentration becomes higher and becomes particularly low in solutions containing Mg2+. With the… More >

Recent Advances in Flame Retardant Bio-Based Benzoxazine Resins

Hongliang Ding, Xin Wang*, Lei Song, Yuan Hu

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.4, pp. 871-895, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018150

Abstract Benzoxazines have attracted wide attention from academics all over the world because of their unique properties. However, most of the production and preparation of benzoxazine resins depends on petroleum resources now, especially bisphenol A-based benzoxazine. Therefore, owing to the environmental impacts, the development of bio-based benzoxazines is gaining more and more interest to substitute petroleum-based benzoxazines. Similar to petroleum-based benzoxazines, most of bio-based benzoxazines suffer from flammability. Thus, it is necessary to endow bio-based benzoxazines with outstanding flame retardancy. The purpose of this review is to summarize the latest advance in flame retardant bio-based benzoxazines. First, three methods of the… More > Graphic Abstract

Towards Securing Machine Learning Models Against Membership Inference Attacks

    Sana Ben Hamida1,2, Hichem Mrabet3,4, Sana Belguith5,*, Adeeb Alhomoud6, Abderrazak Jemai7

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.3, pp. 4897-4919, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019709

Abstract From fraud detection to speech recognition, including price prediction, Machine Learning (ML) applications are manifold and can significantly improve different areas. Nevertheless, machine learning models are vulnerable and are exposed to different security and privacy attacks. Hence, these issues should be addressed while using ML models to preserve the security and privacy of the data used. There is a need to secure ML models, especially in the training phase to preserve the privacy of the training datasets and to minimise the information leakage. In this paper, we present an overview of ML threats and vulnerabilities, and we highlight current progress… More >

    Mesfer Al Duhayyim1, Manal Abdullah Alohali2, Fahd N. Al-Wesabi3,4, Anwer Mustafa Hilal5,*, Mohammad Medani3, Manar Ahmed Hamza5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 2879-2894, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019594

Abstract The most common digital media exchanged via the Internet is in text form. The Arabic language is considered one of the most sensitive languages of content modification due to the presence of diacritics that can cause a change in the meaning. In this paper, an intelligent scheme is proposed for improving the reliability and security of the text exchanged via the Internet. The core mechanism of the proposed scheme depends on integrating the hidden Markov model and zero text watermarking techniques. The watermark key will be generated by utilizing the extracted features of the text analysis process using the third… More >

The Spatial and Electronic Effects of Substituent Groups on the Thermal Curing of Bio-Based Benzoxazines

    Rumeng Li1, Guozhu Zhan2, Qi Ma1, Yunhe Yang1, Xiaoyun Liu1,*, Yitong Zhang1, Qixin Zhuang1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.12, pp. 2093-2117, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.015827

Abstract To explore the influence of substituent groups on thermally induced curing, eight new bio-based benzoxazines containing different substituent groups with different electron negativity and volumes were synthesized. The thermal curing of these bio-based benzoxazines was studied in detail. Combined with the curing reaction kinetics, simulation and calculation of Highest Occupied Molecular and Lowest Unoccupied Molecular values, the spatial and electronic effects of different substituent groups on the curing of benzoxazine was explored. It was found that when the substituent was located at the position directly connected to the N atom, the steric hindrance effect of the group was dominant. When… More > Graphic Abstract
