    C. Thilaga*, P. B. Sarasija

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 2773-2782, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032303

Abstract Complex networks have been a prominent topic of research for several years, spanning a wide range of fields from mathematics to computer science and also to social and biological sciences. The eigenvalues of the Seidel matrix, Seidel Signless Laplacian matrix, Seidel energy, Seidel Signless Laplacian energy, Maximum and Minimum energy, Degree Sum energy and Distance Degree energy of the Unitary Cayley graphs [UCG] have been calculated. Low-power devices must be able to transfer data across long distances with low delay and reliability. To overcome this drawback a small-world network depending on the unitary Cayley graph is proposed to decrease the… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.4, pp. 869-899, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022280

Abstract The aim of the study is to determine the optimal structural parameters for a plastic centrifugal pump inducer within the framework of an orthogonal experimental method. For this purpose, a numerical study of the related flow field is performed using CFX. The shaft power and the head of the pump are taken as the evaluation indicators. Accordingly, the examined variables are the thickness (S), the blade cascade degree (t), the blade rim angle (β1), the blade hub angle (β2) and the hub length (L). The impact of each structural parameter on each evaluation index is examined and special attention is… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.3, pp. 1181-1197, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2023.022755

Abstract Chitin is the second most abundant polysaccharide, produced mainly as an industrial waste stream during crustacean processing. Chitin can be derived into chitosan through the deacetylation process. Conversion of shrimp waste into chitosan via the deacetylation process could be considered a practical approach for shell waste remediation. In this study, chitosan’s physicochemical characteristics extracted from two types of Pacific white leg shrimp, L. vannamei’s shell (i.e., rough and smooth), were compared with commercial chitosan. The yield, moisture, ash, solubility, water and fat binding capacity were measured. The degree of deacetylation (DDA) was calculated using FTIR, and their chemical Structure was… More > Graphic Abstract

On Some Ev-Degree and Ve-Degree Dependent Indices of Benes Network and Its Derived Classes

    Wenhu Wang1,2,3, Hibba Arshad4, Asfand Fahad4,*, Imran Javaid4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 1685-1699, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.023563

Abstract One of the most recent developments in the field of graph theory is the analysis of networks such as Butterfly networks, Benes networks, Interconnection networks, and David-derived networks using graph theoretic parameters. The topological indices (TIs) have been widely used as graph invariants among various graph theoretic tools. Quantitative structure activity relationships (QSAR) and quantitative structure property relationships (QSPR) need the use of TIs. Different structure-based parameters, such as the degree and distance of vertices in graphs, contribute to the determination of the values of TIs. Among other recently introduced novelties, the classes of ev-degree and ve-degree dependent TIs have… More >

Fuzzy Firefly Based Intelligent Algorithm for Load Balancing in Mobile Cloud Computing

    Poonam*, Suman Sangwan

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 1783-1799, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.031729

Abstract This paper presents a novel fuzzy firefly-based intelligent algorithm for load balancing in mobile cloud computing while reducing makespan. The proposed technique implicitly acts intelligently by using inherent traits of fuzzy and firefly. It automatically adjusts its behavior or converges depending on the information gathered during the search process and objective function. It works for 3-tier architecture, including cloudlet and public cloud. As cloudlets have limited resources, fuzzy logic is used for cloudlet selection using capacity and waiting time as input. Fuzzy provides human-like decisions without using any mathematical model. Firefly is a powerful meta-heuristic optimization technique to balance diversification… More >

    G. Naveen Sundar1, Stalin Selvaraj2, D. Narmadha1, K. Martin Sagayam3, A. Amir Anton Jone3, Ayman A. Aly4, Dac-Nhuong Le5,6,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.133, No.1, pp. 31-46, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019914

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one major cause of cancer-related mortality around the world. However, at advanced stages of HCC, systematic treatment options are currently limited. As a result, new pharmacological targets must be discovered regularly, and then tailored medicines against HCC must be developed. In this research, we used biomarkers of HCC to collect the protein interaction network related to HCC. Initially, DC (Degree Centrality) was employed to assess the importance of each protein. Then an improved Graph Coloring algorithm was used to rank the target proteins according to the interaction with the primary target protein after assessing the top… More >

Seed-Oriented Local Community Detection Based on Influence Spreading

    Shenglong Wang1,*, Jing Yang1,*, Xiaoyu Ding2, Jianpei Zhang1, Meng Zhao1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.1, pp. 215-249, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.018050

Abstract In recent years, local community detection algorithms have developed rapidly because of their nearly linear computing time and the convenience of obtaining the local information of real-world networks. However, there are still some issues that need to be further studied. First, there is no local community detection algorithm dedicated to detecting a seed-oriented local community, that is, the local community with the seed as the core. The second and third issues are that the quality of local communities detected by the previous local community detection algorithms are largely dependent on the position of the seed and predefined parameters, respectively. Attention Weight is Indispensable in Joint Entity and Relation Extraction

    Jianquan Ouyang1,*, Jing Zhang1, Tianming Liu2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.3, pp. 1707-1723, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.028352

Abstract Joint entity and relation extraction (JERE) is an important foundation for unstructured knowledge extraction in natural language processing (NLP). Thus, designing efficient algorithms for it has become a vital task. Although existing methods can efficiently extract entities and relations, their performance should be improved. In this paper, we propose a novel model called Attention and Span-based Entity and Relation Transformer (ASpERT) for JERE. First, differing from the traditional approach that only considers the last hidden layer as the feature embedding, ASpERT concatenates the attention head information of each layer with the information of the last hidden layer by using an… More >
