Stress Relaxation and Sensitivity Weight for Bi-Directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization to Improve the Computational Efficiency and Stabilization on Stress-Based Topology Optimization

Chao Ma, Yunkai Gao*, Yuexing Duan, Zhe Liu

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.2, pp. 715-738, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.011187

Abstract Stress-based topology optimization is one of the most concerns of structural optimization and receives much attention in a wide range of engineering designs. To solve the inherent issues of stress-based topology optimization, many schemes are added to the conventional bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) method in the previous studies. However, these schemes degrade the generality of BESO and increase the computational cost. This study proposes an improved topology optimization method for the continuum structures considering stress minimization in the framework of the conventional BESO method. A global stress measure constructed by p-norm function is treated as the objective function. To… More >

An Enhanced Decentralized Virtual Machine Migration Approach for Energy-Aware Cloud Data Centers

    R. Jayamala*, A. Valarmathi

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 347-358, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.012401

Abstract Cloud computing is an increasingly important technology to deliver pay-as-you-go online computing services. In this study, the cloud service provider permits the cloud user to pay according to the user’s needs. Various methods have been used to reduce energy utilization in the cloud. The rapid increase of cloud users has led to increased energy consumption and higher operating costs for cloud providers. A key issue in cloud data centers is their massive energy consumption to operate and maintain computing services. Virtual machine (VM) migration is a method to reduce energy consumption. This study proposes enhanced decentralized virtual machine migration (EDVMM),… More >

Abdulfattah Noorwali1, Muhammad Awais Javed2, Mohammad Zubair Khan3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 463-476, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014668

Abstract Unmanned Ariel Vehicles (UAVs) are flying objects whose trajectory can be remotely controlled. UAVs have lot of potential applications in the areas of wireless communications, internet of things, security, traffic management, monitoring, and smart surveying. By enabling reliable communication between UAVs and ground nodes, emergency notifications can be efficiently and quickly disseminated to a wider area. UAVs can gather data from remote areas, industrial units, and emergency scenarios without human involvement. UAVs can support ubiquitous connectivity, green communications, and intelligent wireless resource management. To efficiently use UAVs for all these applications, important challenges need to be investigated. In this paper,… More >

A Review of Energy-Related Cost Issues and Prediction Models in Cloud Computing Environments

    Mohammad Aldossary*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 353-368, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014974

Abstract With the expansion of cloud computing, optimizing the energy efficiency and cost of the cloud paradigm is considered significantly important, since it directly affects providers’ revenue and customers’ payment. Thus, providing prediction information of the cloud services can be very beneficial for the service providers, as they need to carefully predict their business growths and efficiently manage their resources. To optimize the use of cloud services, predictive mechanisms can be applied to improve resource utilization and reduce energy-related costs. However, such mechanisms need to be provided with energy awareness not only at the level of the Physical Machine (PM) but… More >

Fuzzy Based Adaptive Deblocking Filters at Low-Bitrate HEVC Videos for Communication Networks

    Anudeep Gandam1,*, Jagroop Singh Sidhu2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 3045-3063, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013663

Abstract In-loop filtering significantly helps detect and remove blocking artifacts across block boundaries in low bitrate coded High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) frames and improves its subjective visual quality in multimedia services over communication networks. However, on faster processing of the complex videos at a low bitrate, some visible artifacts considerably degrade the picture quality. In this paper, we proposed a four-step fuzzy based adaptive deblocking filter selection technique. The proposed method removes the quantization noise, blocking artifacts and corner outliers efficiently for HEVC coded videos even at low bit-rate. We have considered Y (luma), U (chroma-blue), and V (chroma-red) components… More >

Trade-Off between Efficiency and Effectiveness: A Late Fusion Multi-View Clustering Algorithm

    Yunping Zhao1, Weixuan Liang1, Jianzhuang Lu1,*, Xiaowen Chen1, Nijiwa Kong2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2709-2722, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013389

Abstract Late fusion multi-view clustering (LFMVC) algorithms aim to integrate the base partition of each single view into a consensus partition. Base partitions can be obtained by performing kernel k-means clustering on all views. This type of method is not only computationally efficient, but also more accurate than multiple kernel k-means, and is thus widely used in the multi-view clustering context. LFMVC improves computational efficiency to the extent that the computational complexity of each iteration is reduced from O(n3) to O(n) (where n is the number of samples). However, LFMVC also limits the search space of the optimal solution, meaning that… More >

Abstract Nowadays, healthcare applications necessitate maximum volume of medical data to be fed to help the physicians, academicians, pathologists, doctors and other healthcare professionals. Advancements in the domain of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) and Multimedia Wireless Sensor Networks (MWSN) are tremendous. M-WMSN is an advanced form of conventional Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) to networks that use multimedia devices. When compared with traditional WSN, the quantity of data transmission in M-WMSN is significantly high due to the presence of multimedia content. Hence, clustering techniques are deployed to achieve low amount of energy utilization. The current research work aims at introducing a new… More >

Abstract Heat stress (HS) reaction can lead to serious physiological dysfunction associated with cardiovascular and various organ diseases. Ginsenoside Rg3 (G-Rg3) is a representative component of ginseng rare saponin and can protect against multiple organs, also used as functional food to adjust the balance of the human body, but the therapeutic effect and molecular mechanism of G-Rg3 on male diseases under HS are underexplored. The aim of the present study, G-Rg3 was prepared through the efficient conversion of ginsenoside Rd and investigate the contribution of G-Rg3 to testicular injury induced exposure to HS. All mice were divided into four groups as… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.5, pp. 1063-1072, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.010137

Abstract The aim of this study is to consider the economic, resource, energy and environmental factors in a low-carbon economic efficiency evaluation system and to analyze the factors affecting iron and steel enterprises. A combined data envelopment analysis and Malmquist index model have been used in this paper. We empirically investigate the low-carbon efficiency of the Chinese steel industry using observations of 17 listed enterprises from 2009 to 2013. The results show that the economic efficiency of China’s iron & steel enterprises is generally low. The Malmquist productivity index also shows a decreasing trend. Based on our findings, some policies are… More >
