    EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF ENHANCED NUCLEATE BOILING HEAT TRANSFER ON UNIFORM AND MODULATED POROUS STRUCTURES

    Abstract An experimental investigation of the Critical Heat Flux (CHF) and heat transfer coefficient (HTC) of two-phase heat transfer of de-Ionized (DI) water, pool boiling was conducted using several kinds of sintered copper microparticle porous uniform and modulated structures. The modulated porous structure reached a heat flux of 450 W/cm2 and a heat transfer coefficient of 230,000 W/m2K. The thick and thin uniform porous structures achieved CHFs of 290 W/cm2 and 227 W/cm2 , respectively, and heat transfer coefficients of 118,000 W/m2K and 104,000 W/m2K.     Abstract This paper reports the results of an experimental investigation of transient, turbulent mixed convection in a vertical channel in which one of the walls is heated and the other is adiabatic. The goal is to simultaneously estimate the constants in a Nusselt number correlation whose form is assumed a priori by synergistically marrying the experimental results with repeated numerical calculations that assume guess values of the constants.     Abstract The stability of free convection in an annulus is governed by the boundary conditions on the inner and outer walls of the annulus and the upper and lower boundaries. This paper explores the effect of free convection on the inner surface of the annulus, where the boundary conditions for the outer wall and the upper and lower boundaries are controlled.     Abstract Conjugate heat transfer from a flat circular disk is investigated both computationally and experimentally with a constant heat flux imposed on its bottom surface and a shower head of air jets impinging on the top surface. Although cystathionine-gamma-lyase (CSE) plays an important role in the development of multiple tumors, the clinical implication and potential mechanisms of CSE in HCC development remain elusive. Methods: In our study, the CSE expression in HCC was analyzed in Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) and The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) datasets and further confirmed by RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry assays in HCC samples.     Abstract Background: L-dopa (Levodopa) is well known for managing PD (Parkinson’s disease); however, its prolonged use caused dyskinesia (LID). Due to the varied presentation of LID, effective treatment options are scarce.     Abstract Corundo-baddeleyit material (CBM) – EUCOR – is a heat- and wear-resistant material even at extreme temperatures. This article introduces an original numerical model of solidification and cooling of this material in a non-metallic mold. The second, cooperating model of chemical heterogeneity and its application on EUCOR samples prove that the applied method of measuring the chemical heterogeneity provides the detailed quantitative information on the material structure and makes it possible to analyze the solidification process.     Abstract Convection heat loss inevitably occurs in receivers of high concentrating solar concentrators. All the concentrators are need to be tack during the operation and hence the position of the receiver is changing continually.     RADIO FREQUENCY HEATING OF IMPLANTED TISSUE ENGINEERED SCAFFOLDS: SIMULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES

    Abstract Heat can be potentially used for accelerating biodegradation of implanted tissue engineered scaffolds. Cyclic and continuous radio frequency (RF) heating was applied to implanted chitosan and alginate scaffolds at 4 applied voltages, 3 frequencies, and 2 thermally conditioning environments. A 3D finite element model was developed to simulate the RF treatment. A uniform RF heating was achieved at the scaffold top. For alginate, voltage was the only significant RF heating factor while both frequency and voltage significantly affected RF heating of chitosan.
