    Abstract The investigation of specific genes will establish more useful biomarkers for accurate detection and management of gynecological cancers, especially patients with cervical cancer (CCP).     Confocal laser scanning microscopy and immunohistochemistry of cerebellar Lugaro cells

    Abstract The present paper shows by means of confocal laser scanning microscopy the immunoreactivity of rat cerebellar Lugaro cells for calbindin, synapsin-I, PSD-95, GluR1, CaMKII alpha, and N-cadherin. Lugaro cells were easily characterized by their location beneath Purkinje cells. Calbindin revealed immunoreactivity in the cell body, and the axonal and dendritic processes. Synapsin-I labelled the presynaptic endings on Lugaro cells. Synapsin-I and PSD-95 immunoreactivity demonstrated the localization of presynaptic and postsynaptic endings surrounding cell soma, corresponding to afferent extrinsic and intrinsic cerebellar fi bers.     Abstract Three IgG class anti-bovine CXCL8 (bCXCL8) monoclonal antibody (mAb)-secreting hybridomas, SH8-8D7, SH8-12A5 and SH8-2A1, were developed. SH8-8D7 was IgG2a, and SH8-12A5 and SH8-2A1 were IgG1. All three mAbs detected recombinant bCXCL8 (rbCXCL8) by immunoprecipitation and Western blotting. SH8- 2A1 could neutralise the chemotactic activity of rbCXCL8 towards neutrophils. The quantitative bCXCL8 ELISA was constituted by the combination of SH8-12A5 and biotin-SH8-2A1.     Abstract The localization of GluR1 subunits of ionotropic glutamate receptors in the glial cells and inhibitory neurons of cerebellar cortex and their association with the climbing and parallel fibers, and basket cell axons were studied. Samples of P14 and P21 rat cerebellar cortex were exposed to a specific antibody against GluR1 subunit(s) of AMPA receptors and were examined with confocal laser scanning microscopy.     Biphasic and monophasic sarcomatoid carcinoma of the urinary bladder

    Abstract We report a rare case of sarcomatoid carcinoma of the urinary bladder which showed both of biphasic and monophasic phenotypes through its clinical course. A 64 year-old man presented with gross hematuria and interrupted voiding. Radiological examination demonstrated a pedunculated tumor in the bladder with no distant metastases. Pathological diagnosis of transurethral resection revealed biphasic sarcomatoid carcinoma, pT1, composed of squamous cell carcinoma component and spindle cell component. The disease had repeated local recurrences and partial and total cystectomies were performed consequently.     Primary signet-ring cell carcinoma of the prostate

    Abstract We report a rare case of primary signet-ring cell carcinoma of the prostate in an advanced stage. A 62-year-old man with serum level of prostate-specific antigen at 364.70 ng/ml was diagnosed as having cT4N1M1c prostatic signet-ring cell carcinoma of Gleason score 5 + 4 = 9. Immunohistochemical examination demonstrated cytoplasmic immunoreactivity to prostate-specific antigen in signet-ring cancer cells. The intracytoplasmic vacuoles in the signet-ring cells showed mucin production with a positive staining with periodic acid-Schiff.
