A Fractional Order Fast Repetitive Control Paradigm of Vienna Rectifier for Power Quality Improvement

    Sue Wang1, Xintao Luo1,*, Saleem Riaz2, Haider Zaman3, Chaohong Zhou1, Pengfei Hao1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.2, pp. 1159-1176, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021850

Abstract Due to attractive features, including high efficiency, low device stress, and ability to boost voltage, a Vienna rectifier is commonly employed as a battery charger in an electric vehicle (EV). However, the 6k ± 1 harmonics in the acside current of the Vienna rectifier deteriorate the THD of the ac current, thus lowering the power factor. Therefore, the current closed-loop for suppressing 6k ± 1 harmonics is essential to meet the desired total harmonic distortion (THD). Fast repetitive control (FRC) is generally adopted; however, the deviation of power grid frequency causes delay link in the six frequency fast repetitive control… More >

    R. Hemalatha1,*, M. Ramasamy2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1505-1525, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.026301

Abstract In recent day’s power distribution system is distress from acute power quality issues. In this work, for compensating Power Quality (PQ) disturbances a seven level cascaded H-bridge inverter is implemented in distribution static compensator which protects power quality problems in currents. Distribution Static Compensator (DSTATCOM) aid to enhances power factor and removes total harmonic distortion which is drawn from non-linear load. The D–Q reference theory based hysteresis current controller is employed to generate reference current for compensation of harmonics and reactive power, additionally Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) classifier is used which easily separates exact harmonics. In the meantime fuzzy logic… More >

Production of Wood Fibers from Thermally Treated Wood

Maximilien Gibier*, Pierre Girods, Yann Rogaume

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.5, pp. 1427-1439, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022057

Abstract The reduction of the hygroscopicity of wood fibers was investigated through a Thermal Treatment (TT) on wood chips performed before the defibering process. The TT and defibering tests were both carried out on a continuous pilot at semi-industrial scale. The thermal treatment study of wood chips, equivalent to a low temperature pyrolysis, was achieved for four conditions (280°C–320°C) for a duration of 10 min. Mass quantification of solids, condensables and gases (FTIR) at the outcome of the thermal treatment allowed to achieve the mass balances for each condition. The increase of the reactor temperature from 280°C to 320°C leads to… More >

Resource Allocation Using Phase Change Hyper Switching Algorithm in the Cloud Environment

    J. Praveenchandar1,*, A. Tamilarasi2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.34, No.3, pp. 1839-1850, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.026354

Abstract Cloud computing is one of the emerging technology; it provides various services like Software as a Service, Platform as a Service, and Infrastructure as a Service on demand. It reduces the cost of traditional computing by renting the resources instead of buying them for a huge cost. The usage of cloud resources is increasing day by day. Due to the heavy workload, all users cannot get uninterrupted service at some time. And the response time of some users also gets increased. Resource allocation is one of the primary issues of a cloud environment, one of the challenging problems is improving… More >

Simulating Error-Opening of Pressure Relief Valves of a Station on a Continuous Undulating Oil Pipeline with Large Elevation Difference

    Xiaohua Chen1,*, Caifu Lan1, Honghao Zheng2, Wang Li1, Chao Zhao1, Wenjun Dang3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.4, pp. 1439-1452, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018208

Abstract For oil pipeline in mountain areas, high hydrostatic pressure in the pipeline may cause error-opening of pressure relief valves, and oil is discharged from the pipeline to the pressure relief tanks, bringing spilling-over risk of the pressure relief tanks. Therefore, simulating the error-opening situations of the pressure relief valves and investigating the oil discharge process are necessary for checking the possibility of the spilling-over accident and then proposing measures to improve the pressure relief system. This research focuses on a continuous undulating oil pipeline with large elevation difference and a station along this pipeline, which is named B station in… More >

    Abstract

The roots of the vegetal Curcuma due to its high content of polyphenols, has been used successfully in several clinical situations. This review assessed the effect of curcumin/Curcuma longa on symptoms and metabolic changes in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). A systematic review of animal models and randomized clinical trials (RCTs) was conducted by searching the following electronic databases: PubMed, CENTRAL, LILACS, Science Direct, and ClinicalTrials.gov. From 997 found records, 62 were included. More than 90% of the animal studies reported an improvement in macroscopic, histologic and/or functional activity; 80% identified decreased oxidative and/or inflammatory biomarkers in animals treated with curcumin.… More >

Low-Cost IMU Sensors for Satellite Maturity Improvement

Omar Ben Bahri*, Abdullah Alhumaidi Alotaibi

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.43, No.3, pp. 1315-1326, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.024979

Abstract The satellite technology proves its impact in the modern era with its wide benefits and applications. However, the cost of the development in this field presents gaps in many countries, almost the developed countries. Therefore, this paper provides a rich platform around low-cost sensors in order to improve maturity in space technology, mostly the system of attitude determination and control. The development of this knowledge turns out to be very interesting in order to achieve a space mission which leads to the progression of the spatial technology readiness level (TRL) defined by the international measurement scale which is able to… More >

Biological Control of Root-Knot Nematode Meloidogyne incognita in Psoralea corylifolia Plant by Enhancing the Biocontrol Efficacy of Trichoderma harzianum Using Press Mud

    Yasar Nishat1, Mohammad Danish1,*, Heba I. Mohamed2,*, Hisamuddin Shaikh1, Abeer Elhakem3

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.8, pp. 1757-1777, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.021267

Abstract Meloidogyne incognita is a plant pathogen causing root-knot disease and loss of crop yield. The present study aimed to use Trichoderma harzianum as a biocontrol agent against plant-parasitic nematodes and used press mud, which is a solid waste by-product of sugarcane, as a biocontrol agent and biofertilizer. Therefore, the combined application of T. harzianum and press mud may enhance nematode control and plant growth. Elemental analysis of press mud using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) integrated with an Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX) analyzer revealed the presence of different elements such as C, O, Mg, Si, P, K, Ca, Cu and Zn.… More >

Abstract Moringa leaf extract (MLE) has been shown to promote beneficial outcomes in animals and plants. It is rich in amino acids, antioxidants, phytohormones, minerals, and many other bioactive compounds with nutritional and growth-promoting potential. Recent reports indicated that MLE improved abiotic stress tolerance in plants. Our understanding of the mechanisms underlying MLE-mediated abiotic stress tolerance remains limited. This review summarizes the existing literature on the role of MLE in promoting plant abiotic stress acclimation processes. MLE is applied to plants in a variety of ways, including foliar spray, rooting media, and seed priming. Exogenous application of MLE promoted crop plant… More >
