    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 909-921, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022907

Abstract A unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) plays a crucial role in the Power quality improvement of a power system. In this paper, a reduced switch multilevel inverter is with artificial neural network, soft computing technique control is proposed for UPQC. This proposed topology is employed for the mitigation of various power quality issues such as voltage sag, voltage swell, power factor, harmonics, and restoration time of voltage compensation. To show the enriched performance of the proposed topology comparative analysis is made with other two topologies of UPQC such as Conventional UPQC and UPQC using cascaded H bridge (CHB) five-level Inverter.… More >

    K. Saravanan1,*, G. M. Tamilselvan2, A. Rajendran3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.3, pp. 1063-1077, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.020789

Abstract As huge users are involved, there is a difficulty in spectrum allocation and scheduling in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRNs). Collision increases when there is no allocation of spectrum and these results in huge drop rate and network performance degradation. To solve these problems and allocate appropriate spectrum, a novel method is introduced termed as Quality of Service (QoS) Improvement Proper Scheduling (QIPS). The major contribution of the work is to design a new cross layer QoS Aware Scheduling based on Loss-based Proportional Fairness with Multihop (QoSAS-LBPFM). In Medium Access Control (MAC) multi-channel network environment mobile nodes practice concurrent broadcast between… More >

    Mingwan Mei1, Ping Wang1, Yanbo Che1,*, Zihan Lv1, Zmarrak Wali Khanand1, Chao Xing1,2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 591-607, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.016585

    Abstract

In the medium voltage direct current (MVDC) transmission system, a small number of MMC sub modules will reduce the power quality. In this paper, based on the research background of Photovoltaic Medium Voltage Direct Current (PV-MVDC) system, a Hybrid Modulation Strategy based on the Decoupled Double Synchronous Reference Frame (DDSRF) control strategy is proposed. The dual arm complementary hybrid modulation combining nearest-level-SPWM (NL-SPWM) can keep the number of SMs in the ON state constant. Then, the corresponding voltage sharing control algorithm of sub module (SM) is introduced. Through theoretical calculation, the modulation strategy can be found to stabilize the DC… More >

Experimental Study on Improvement Effects of Completely Weathered Phyllite Using Red Clay and Cement for High-Speed Railway Embankments

    Xiushao Zhao1, Jianglong Rao1, Qijing Yang1,2,*, Yu Rong3, Zhitao Fu1, Zhiyao Wang1, Zixi Chen1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.5, pp. 1287-1305, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.017473

Abstract Completely weathered phyllite (CWP) has the characteristics of difficult compaction, low shear strength after compaction and large settlement after construction. The traditional improvement method using a single agent of red clay or cement for CWP satisfies the subgrade requirements for ordinary railway, but cannot meet the requirements of immediate strength and long-term post-construction settlement of high-speed railway at the same time. A series of experimental investigations were undertaken for the blended CWP soils, with three additives used. The first additive was red clay, the second was cement and the third was a combination of both red clay and cement at… More > Graphic Abstract

Optimization of Organic Mulches Thickness Improves Soil Moisture Retention under Controlled Conditions

    Jiayi Zhang1, Guohua Fu2, Zhiyang Jin3, Lihang Chi1, Guocheng Xu1, Daran Yue1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.91, No.4, pp. 841-857, 2022, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.017938

Abstract Organic mulch can improve the moisture, chemical composition, dust, and dust suppression of soil, and beautify the environment. In view of the rapid evaporation rate and serious loss of soil water in tropical areas, this paper explored the effect of organic mulch materials with different thickness on the increase of soil water retention rate and the improvement of soil water loss caused by evaporation. Rubberwood sawdust (RWS), rubberwood bark (RWB), coconut fiber (CF), and Mulch (MC) were selected as the mulching materials. Field experiment and laboratory experiment were performed, and soil-moisture content and temperature were continuously monitored. However, from the… More >

Machine Learning Approach for Improvement in Kitsune NID

Abdullah Alabdulatif1, Syed Sajjad Hussain Rizvi2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 827-840, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021879

Abstract Network intrusion detection is the pressing need of every communication network. Many network intrusion detection systems (NIDS) have been proposed in the literature to cater to this need. In recent literature, plug-and-play NIDS, Kitsune, was proposed in 2018 and greatly appreciated in the literature. The Kitsune datasets were divided into 70% training set and 30% testing set for machine learning algorithms. Our previous study referred that the variants of the Tree algorithms such as Simple Tree, Medium Tree, Coarse Tree, RUS Boosted, and Bagged Tree have reported similar effectiveness but with slight variation inefficiency. To further extend this investigation, we… More >

On Mixed Model for Improvement in Stock Price Forecasting

    Qunhui Zhang1, Mengzhe Lu3,4, Liang Dai2,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.2, pp. 795-809, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.019987

Abstract Stock market trading is an activity in which investors need fast and accurate information to make effective decisions. But the fact is that forecasting stock prices by using various models has been suffering from low accuracy, slow convergence, and complex parameters. This study aims to employ a mixed model to improve the accuracy of stock price prediction. We present how to use a random walk based on jump-diffusion, to obtain stock predictions with a good-fitting degree by adjusting different parameters. Aimed at getting better parameters and then using the time series model to predict the data, we employed the time… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.6, pp. 1811-1825, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.015751

Abstract The permeability is a key factor to determine the efficiency of coalbed methane (CBM) production. The borehole enlargement technology using hydraulic and mechanical measures to cut coal is an effective method to increase the coal seam permeability and improve the efficiency of gas drainage. Reasonable design of the layout of boreholes is the prerequisite for efficient and economical gas drainage. In this paper, based on the strain-softening model, the stress and permeability model of the coal seam around the enlarged borehole was built, and based on the dual-medium model, the gas migration model in the coal seam was established. Then… More >

    N. Kanagaraj*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.40, No.2, pp. 517-538, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.019149

Abstract In this paper, the hybrid photovoltaic-thermoelectric generator (PV-TEG) combined dynamic voltage restorer (DVR) system is proposed for the power quality disturbances compensation in a single-phase distribution system. The stable and precise level of input voltage is essential for the smooth and trouble-free operation of the electrically sensitive loads which are connected at the utility side to avoid system malfunctions. In this context, the hybrid PV-TEG energy module combined DVR system is proposed in this paper. With the support of the hybrid energy module, the DVR will perform the power quality disturbances compensation effectively with needed voltage and /or power. In… More >
