    Fiaz Majeed1, Muhammad Shoaib2, Monagi H. Alkinani3, Wazir Zada Khan4, Shahzada Khurram5, Akber Abid Gardezi6, Muhammad Shafiq7,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.1, pp. 285-299, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.015488

Abstract Relational databases are still important in modern times due to their many advantages, such as ease of interaction, simplicity and data integrity. In this regard, structured query language (SQL) and technical knowledge about database schemas are the basic building blocks for retrieving information from relational databases. Generally, non-expert users cannot skillfully write technical queries on the target database. To this end, many database natural language interfaces (NLIDB) have been developed to greatly facilitate users. However, each system provides a different interface for new users, so beginners can use different interactive modes to enter keyword-based queries. For users, migrating from one… More >

    Ahad Alloqmani1, Omimah Alsaedi1, Nadia Bahatheg1, Reem Alnanih1,*, Lamiaa Elrefaei1,2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.40, No.3, pp. 1023-1042, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.019704

Abstract Interactive learning tools can facilitate the learning process and increase student engagement, especially tools such as computer programs that are designed for human-computer interaction. Thus, this paper aims to help students learn five different methods for solving nonlinear equations using an interactive learning tool designed with common principles such as feedback, visibility, affordance, consistency, and constraints. It also compares these methods by the number of iterations and time required to display the result. This study helps students learn these methods using interactive learning tools instead of relying on traditional teaching methods. The tool is implemented using the MATLAB app and… More >

    Shinjin Kang1, Jongin Choi2,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 1089-1105, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019979

Abstract The game user interface (UI) provides a large volume of information necessary to analyze the game screen. The availability of such information can be functional in vision-based machine learning algorithms. With this, there will be an enhancement in the application power of vision deep learning neural networks. Therefore, this paper proposes a game UI segmentation technique based on unsupervised learning. We developed synthetic labeling created on the game engine, image-to-image translation and segmented UI components in the game. The network learned in this manner can segment the target UI area in the target game regardless of the location of the… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.30, No.1, pp. 49-64, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016077

Abstract Smart wheelchairs play a significant role in supporting disabled people. Individuals with motor function impairments due to some disorders such as strokes or multiple sclerosis face frequent moving difficulties. Hence, they need constant support from an assistant. This paper presents a brain-controlled wheelchair model to assist disabled and paralyzed patients. The wheelchair is controlled by interpreting Electroencephalogram (EEG) signals, also known as brain waves. In the EEG technique, an electrode cap is positioned on the user’s scalp to receive EEG signals, which are detected and transformed by the Arduino microcontroller into motion commands, which drive the wheelchair. The proposed wheelchair… More >

Yunxing Zhang, Shan Ma, Kangping Liao, Wenyang Duan*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.1, pp. 43-64, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014847

Abstract In this study, a numerical model for simulating two-phase flow is developed. The Cartesian grid with Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) is adopted to reduce the computational cost. An explicit projection method is used for the time integration and the Finite Difference Method (FDM) is applied on a staggered grid for the discretization of spatial derivatives. The Volume of Fluid (VOF) method with Piecewise-Linear Interface Calculation (PLIC) is extended to the AMR grid to capture the gas-water interface accurately. A coarse-fine interface treatment method is developed to preserve the flux conservation at the interfaces. Several two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) benchmark… More >
