Abstract This study was designed to solve the problem of large waste volume from bamboo processing residues in recent years. Using magnesium oxychloride (MO) cementitious material as the main material and bamboo residue (BR) as the reinforcing material, a BR/MO composite material was prepared. The effects of BR amount on the molding properties, mechanical strength, and water resistance of BR/MO composites were examined and discussed. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffractometry (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis were used to characterize composite microscopic morphology, crystalline structure, and heat resistance. The results showed that, when the BR content was 1.00% (by wt), the flowability… More >

    Ayesha Sarwar1, Kashif Javed1, Muhammad Jawad Khan1, Saddaf Rubab1, Oh-Young Song2,*, Usman Tariq3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3825-3840, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016893

Abstract Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) is a system that provides a link between the brain of humans and the hardware directly. The recorded brain data is converted directly to the machine that can be used to control external devices. There are four major components of the BCI system: acquiring signals, preprocessing of acquired signals, features extraction, and classification. In traditional machine learning algorithms, the accuracy is insignificant and not up to the mark for the classification of multi-class motor imagery data. The major reason for this is, features are selected manually, and we are not able to get those features that give… More >

    Khakoo Mal1,2, Imtiaz Hussain Kalwar3, Khurram Shaikh2, Tayab Din Memon2,4, Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry1, Kashif Nisar5,*, Manoj Gupta6

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.3, pp. 823-841, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.016990

    Abstract

The core part of any study of rolling stock behavior is the wheel-track interaction patch because the forces produced at the wheel-track interface govern the dynamic behavior of the whole railway vehicle. It is significant to know the nature of the contact force to design more effective vehicle dynamics control systems and condition monitoring systems. However, it is hard to find the status of this adhesion force due to its complexity, highly non-linear nature, and also affected with an unpredictable operation environment. The purpose of this paper is to develop a model-based estimation technique using the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF)… More >

Abstract The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) shows that there are 13.2% of children at the age of 11 to 17 who are suffering from Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), globally. The treatment methods for ADHD are either psycho-stimulant medications or cognitive therapy. These traditional methods, namely therapy, need a large number of visits to hospitals and include medication. Neurogames could be used for the effective treatment of ADHD. It could be a helpful tool in improving children and ADHD patients’ cognitive skills by using Brain–Computer Interfaces (BCI). BCI enables the user to interact with the computer through brain activity using… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 961-976, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012433

Abstract The patients with brain diseases (e.g., Stroke and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)) are often affected by the injury of motor cortex, which causes a muscular weakness. For this reason, they require rehabilitation with continuous physiotherapy as these diseases can be eased within the initial stages of the symptoms. So far, the popular control system for robot-assisted rehabilitation devices is only of two types which consist of passive and active devices. However, if there is a control system that can directly detect the motor functions, it will induce neuroplasticity to facilitate early motor recovery. In this paper, the control system, which… More >
