A Secure and Efficient Cluster-Based Authentication Scheme for Internet of Things (IoTs)

    Kanwal Imran1,*, Nasreen Anjum2, Abdullah Alghamdi3, Asadullah Shaikh3, Mohammed Hamdi3, Saeed Mahfooz1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1033-1052, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.018589

Abstract IPv6 over Low Power Wireless Personal Area Network (6LoWPAN) provides IP connectivity to the highly constrained nodes in the Internet of Things (IoTs). 6LoWPAN allows nodes with limited battery power and storage capacity to carry IPv6 datagrams over the lossy and error-prone radio links offered by the IEEE 802.15.4 standard, thus acting as an adoption layer between the IPv6 protocol and IEEE 802.15.4 network. The data link layer of IEEE 802.15.4 in 6LoWPAN is based on AES (Advanced Encryption Standard), but the 6LoWPAN standard lacks and has omitted the security and privacy requirements at higher layers. The sensor nodes in… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 19-41, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.018579

Abstract In this paper, we developed a new customizable low energy Software Defined Networking (SDN) based Internet of Things (IoT) platform that can be reconfigured according to the requirements of the target IoT applications. Technically, the platform consists of a set of low cost and energy efficient single-board computers, which are interconnected within a network with the software defined configuration. The proposed SDN switch is deployed on Raspberry Pi 3 board using Open vSwitch (OvS) software, while the Floodlight controller is deployed on the Orange Pi Prime board. We firstly presented and implemented the method for measuring a delay introduced by… More >

ETM-IoT: Energy-Aware Threshold Model for Heterogeneous Communication in the Internet of Things

    A. Vijaya Krishna1, A. Anny Leema2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1815-1827, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.018455

Abstract The internet of things (IoT) has a wide variety of applications, which in turn raises many challenging issues. IoT technology enables devices to closely monitor their environment, providing context-aware intelligence based on the real-time data collected by their sensor nodes. The IoT not only controls these devices but also monitors their user's behaviour. One of the major issues related to IoT is the need for an energy-efficient communication protocol which uses the heterogeneity and diversity of the objects connected through the internet. Minimizing energy consumption is a requirement for energy-constrained nodes and outsourced nodes. The IoT nodes deployed in different… More >

A Cost-Effective Approach for NDN-Based Internet of Medical Things Deployment

    Syed Sajid Ullah1, Saddam Hussain1, Abdu Gumaei2,3,*, Mohsin S. Alhilal4, Bader Fahad Alkhamees4, Mueen Uddin5, Mabrook Al-Rakhami2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 233-249, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.017971

Abstract Nowadays, healthcare has become an important area for the Internet of Things (IoT) to automate healthcare facilities to share and use patient data anytime and anywhere with Internet services. At present, the host-based Internet paradigm is used for sharing and accessing healthcare-related data. However, due to the location-dependent nature, it suffers from latency, mobility, and security. For this purpose, Named Data Networking (NDN) has been recommended as the future Internet paradigm to cover the shortcomings of the traditional host-based Internet paradigm. Unfortunately, the novel breed lacks a secure framework for healthcare. This article constructs an NDN-Based Internet of Medical Things… More >

An IoT-Aware System for Managing Patients’ Waiting Time Using Bluetooth Low-Energy Technology

    Reham Alabduljabbar*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.40, No.1, pp. 1-16, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.018102

Abstract It is a common observation that whenever patients arrives at the front desk of a hospital, outpatient clinic, or other health-associated centers, they have to first queue up in a line and wait to fill in their registration form to get admitted. The long waiting time without any status updates is the most common complaint, concerning health officials. In this paper, UrNext, a location-aware mobile-based solution using Bluetooth low-energy (BLE) technology is presented to solve the problem. Recently, a technology-oriented method, the Internet of Things (IoT), has been gaining popularity in helping to solve some of the healthcare sector’s problems.… More >

IDV: Internet Domain Name Verification Based on Blockchain

    Ning Hu1, Yu Teng2, Yan Zhao1, Shi Yin1, Yue Zhao3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.1, pp. 299-322, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016839

Abstract The rapid development of blockchain technology has provided new ideas for network security research. Blockchain-based network security enhancement solutions are attracting widespread attention. This paper proposes an Internet domain name verification method based on blockchain. The authenticity of DNS (Domain Name System) resolution results is crucial for ensuring the accessibility of Internet services. Due to the lack of adequate security mechanisms, it has always been a challenge to verify the authenticity of Internet domain name resolution results. Although the solution represented by DNSSEC (Domain Name System Security Extensions) can theoretically solve the domain name verification problem, it has not been… More >

A Material Identification Approach Based on Wi-Fi Signal

    Chao Li1, Fan Li1,2, Wei Du3, Lihua Yin1,*, Bin Wang4, Chonghua Wang5, Tianjie Luo1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 3383-3397, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.020765

Abstract Material identification is a technology that can help to identify the type of target material. Existing approaches depend on expensive instruments, complicated pre-treatments and professional users. It is difficult to find a substantial yet effective material identification method to meet the daily use demands. In this paper, we introduce a Wi-Fi-signal based material identification approach by measuring the amplitude ratio and phase difference as the key features in the material classifier, which can significantly reduce the cost and guarantee a high level accuracy. In practical measurement of Wi-Fi based material identification, these two features are commonly interrupted by the software/hardware… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.3, pp. 4151-4168, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.019178

Abstract The early diagnosis of pre-existing coronary disorders helps to control complications such as pulmonary hypertension, irregular cardiac functioning, and heart failure. Machine-based learning of heart sound is an {efficient} technology which can help minimize the workload of manual auscultation by automatically identifying irregular cardiac sounds. Phonocardiogram (PCG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) waveforms provide the much-needed information for the diagnosis of these diseases. In this work, the researchers have converted the heart sound signal into its corresponding repeating pattern-based spectrogram. PhysioNet 2016 and PASCAL 2011 have been taken as the benchmark datasets to perform experimentation. The existing models, viz. MobileNet, Xception, Visual… More >
