Yuling Zhai*, Long Li, Zihao Xuan, Mingyan Ma, Hua Wang

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.3, pp. 629-646, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017485

Abstract The thermo-physical properties of nanofluids are highly dependent on the used base fluid. This study explores the influence of the mixing ratio on the thermal conductivity and viscosity of ZnO-CuO/EG (ethylene glycol)-W (water) hybrid nanofluids with mass concentration and temperatures in the ranges 1-5 wt.% and 25-60°C, respectively. The characteristics and stability of these mixtures were estimated by TEM (transmission electron microscopy), visual observation, and absorbance tests. The results show that 120 min of sonication and the addition of PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone) surfactant can prevent sedimentation for a period reaching up to 20 days. The increase of EG (ethylene glycol)… More >

Junaid Khan, Rashid Ali, Muzammil Zubair, Syed Mohd Yahya*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 827-846, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.016344

Abstract Cooling the PV surface in a Photovoltaic Thermal system is a pivotal operational aspect to be taken into account to achieve optimized values of performance parameters in a Photovoltaic Thermal System. The experimental design used in this study facilitates the flow of varying concentrations of Zn-water nanofluid in serpentine copper tubing installed at the rear of the PV panel thereby preventing the PV surface temperature from increasing beyond the threshold value at which a decrease in electrical efficiency starts to occur. This fusion of solar thermal with PV devices leads to better electrical and thermal efficiency values resulting in decreased… More >

Abstract The energy produced by the melting stretching disks surface has a wide range of commercial applications, including semi-conductor material preparation, magma solidification, permafrost melting, and frozen land refreezing, among others. In view of this, in the current communication we analyzed magnetohydrodynamic flow of Maxwell nanofluid between two parallel rotating disks. Nanofluids are important due to their astonishing properties in heat conduction flows and in the enhancement of electronic and manufacturing devices. Furthermore, the distinct tiny-sized particles and in the Maxwell water-based fluid for enhancing the heat transfer rate are analyzed. The heat equation is developed in the occurrence of thermal… More >

    Usman Inayat1,*, Shaukat Iqbal1, Tareq Manzoor2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.2, pp. 751-776, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.018665

Abstract In this contemporary study, theoritical investigation of nanofluidic model is thought-out. Two-dimensional nanomaterials based mixed flow is considered here. Convective solar radiative heat transport properties have been investigated over a nonlinearly stretched wall in the presence of magneto-hydrodynamic (MHD), by innovative application of semi analytical “optimal homotopy asymptotic method (OHAM)”. OHAM does not require any discretization, linearization and small parameter assumption. OHAM describes extremely precise order solutions without the need of computing further higher order terms, therefore, fast convergence is observed. Nanofluidic governing model is transformed into system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by exploitation of similarity transformation. To study… More >

    Rabha W. Ibrahim1,*, Ahmed M. Ajaj2, Nadia M.G. Al-Saidi3, Dumitru Balean4,5,6

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.1, pp. 221-232, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.018348

Abstract The science of strategy (game theory) is known as the optimal decision-making of autonomous and challenging players in a strategic background. There are different strategies to complete the optimal decision. One of these strategies is the similarity technique. Similarity technique is a generalization of the symmetric strategy, which depends only on the other approaches employed, which can be formulated by altering diversities. One of these methods is the fractal theory. In this investigation, we present a new method studying the similarity analytic solution (SAS) of a 3D-fractal nanofluid system (FNFS). The dynamic evolution is completely given by the concept of… More >

    S. M. Atif1, W. A. Khan2,*, Muhammad Abbas3,*, Umair Rashid4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.1, pp. 205-220, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017304

Abstract In this numerical study, the effect of quartic autocatalysis type of chemical reaction, buoyancy force and thermal radiation phenomenon and magnetic effect on tangent hyperbolic nanofluid past an upper horizontal surface of a paraboloid has been studied. By considering the Buongiorno model approach, a diffusion of unequal coefficients in the presence of gyrotactic microorganism is discussed. Implementation of microorganism's idea is used to stabilize the nanoparticles through bioconvection. The modeled PDEs of the problems are converted into nonlinear ODEs with the assistant of the similarity transformations. To tackle nonlinear ODEs, MATLAB package bvp4c is used. In addition, a hallmark of… More >

Numerical Simulation for Bioconvection of Unsteady Stagnation Point Flow of Oldroyd-B Nanofluid with Activation Energy and Temperature-Based Thermal Conductivity Past a Stretching Disk

Muhammad Sami Rashad1, Haihu Liu1,*, Shan Ali Khan2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.1, pp. 233-254, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017277

Abstract A mathematical modeling is explored to scrutinize the unsteady stagnation point flow of Oldroyd-B nanofluid under the thermal conductivity and solutal diffusivity with bioconvection mechanism. Impacts of Joule heating and Arrhenius activation energy including convective boundary conditions are studied, and the specified surface temperature and constant temperature of wall (CTW) are discussed. The consequences of thermal conductivity and diffusivity are also taken into account. The flow is generated through stretchable disk geometry, and the behavior of non-linear thermal radiation is incorporated in energy equation. The partial differential equations governing the fluid flow in the structure is reduced into dimensionless nonlinear… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.6, pp. 1659-1679, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.017657

Abstract A two-dimensional (2D) laminar flow of nanofluids confined within a square cavity having localized heat source at the bottom wall has been investigated. The governing Navier–Stokes and energy equations have been non dimensionalized using the appropriate non dimensional variables and then numerically solved using finite volume method. The flow was controlled by a range of parameters such as Rayleigh number, length of heat source and nanoparticle volume fraction. The numerical results are represented in terms of isotherms, streamlines, velocity and temperature distribution as well as the local and average rate of heat transfer. A comparative study has been conducted for… More >
