    Sound & Vibration, Vol.56, No.3, pp. 275-291, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sv.2022.020207

Abstract Noise pollution is one of the most significant harmful physical factors in the industrial and occupational environments. Due to the high costs of exposure to excessive noise; continuous sound evaluation, propose and implement noise control plans in occupational environments is necessary. Thus, the present study aimed to review environmental sound measurements, drawing of noise maps, and prioritizing the engineering noise control methods using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This study was a descriptive-analytical study that aimed to assess occupational noises and present a control plan in the City Gas Stations (CGSs) of Kerman, Iran in 2021. The present study was… More >

A Numerical Investigation on the Influence of the Circular Ring on the Aerodynamic Noise Generated by a Cooling Fan

    Jun Feng1,2, Tao Bian1,2,5, Qianpeng Han2, Bing Wang1,3,4,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 1-14, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.018275

Abstract The influence of the width of the circular ring of a car cooling fan on the aerodynamic noise is investigated numerically through the determination of the overall sound pressure level (OASPL). The results demonstrate that when the circular rings cover near 2/3 of the width of the blade tips of the rotor in the axis direction, the rotor has the lowest OASPL and the related total pressure efficiency and flow mass rate are better than the corresponding values obtained for a reference rotor without a circular ring. With increasing the width of the circular ring in the axis direction, the… More > Graphic Abstract

Effective Denoising Architecture for Handling Multiple Noises

    Na Hyoun Kim, Namgyu Kim*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2667-2682, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.029732

Abstract Object detection, one of the core research topics in computer vision, is extensively used in various industrial activities. Although there have been many studies of daytime images where objects can be easily detected, there is relatively little research on nighttime images. In the case of nighttime, various types of noises, such as darkness, haze, and light blur, deteriorate image quality. Thus, an appropriate process for removing noise must precede to improve object detection performance. Although there are many studies on removing individual noise, only a few studies handle multiple noises simultaneously. In this paper, we propose a convolutional denoising autoencoder… More >

An Enhanced Graphical Authentication Scheme Using Multiple-Image Steganography

    Khalil Hamdi Ateyeh Al-Shqeerat*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.3, pp. 2095-2107, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.028975

Abstract Most remote systems require user authentication to access resources. Text-based passwords are still widely used as a standard method of user authentication. Although conventional text-based passwords are rather hard to remember, users often write their passwords down in order to compromise security. One of the most complex challenges users may face is posting sensitive data on external data centers that are accessible to others and do not be controlled directly by users. Graphical user authentication methods have recently been proposed to verify the user identity. However, the fundamental limitation of a graphical password is that it must have a colorful… More >

Outage Probability Analysis of Free Space Communication System Using Diversity Combining Techniques

    Hasnain Kashif*, Muhammad Nasir Khan

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 6001-6017, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.031291

Abstract Recently, free space optical (FSO) communication is gaining much attention towards the research community. The reason for this attention is the promises of high data-rate, license-free deployment, and non-interfering links. It can, however, give rise to major system difficulties concerning alignment and atmospheric turbulence. FSO is the degradation in the signal quality because of atmospheric channel impairments and conditions. The worst effect is due to fog particles. Though, Radio Frequency (RF) links are able to transmit the data in foggy conditions but not in rain. To overcome these issues related to both the FSO and RF links. A free space… More >

    Muhammad Irfan1, Farman Ali2, Fazal Muhammad3,*, Saifur Rahman1, Ammar Armghan4, Yousaf Khan5, Faisal Althobiani6, Rehan Shafiq7, Mohammed Alshareef8, Mohammad E. Gommosani9

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 4885-4895, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030157

Abstract The fiber nonlinearity and phase noise (PN) are the focused impairments in the optical communication system, induced by high-capacity transmission and high laser input power. The channels include high-capacity transmissions that cannot be achieved at the end side without aliasing because of fiber nonlinearity and PN impairments. Thus, addressing of these distortions is the basic objective for the 5G mobile network. In this paper, the fiber nonlinearity and PN are investigated using the assembled methodology of millimeter-wave and radio over fiber (mmWave-RoF). The analytical model is designed in terms of outage probability for the proposed mmWave-RoF system. The performance of… More >

    Abdullah G. Alharbi1, Jawad Mirza2, Mehak Raza3, Salman Ghafoor4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5411-5422, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.029317

Abstract In this paper, we report a simulation study on the performance enhancement of Praseodymium doped silica fiber amplifiers (PDFAs) in O-band (1270–1350 nm) in terms of small signal gain, power conversion efficiency (PCE), and output optical power by employing bidirectional pumping. The PDFA performance is examined by optimizing the length of Praseodymium doped silica fiber (PDF), its mode-field diameter (MFD) and the concentration of Pr3+. A small-signal peak gain of 56.4 dB, power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 47%, and output optical power of around 1.6 W (32 dBm) is observed at optimized parameters for input signal wavelength of 1310 nm.… More >

    S. Rooban1,*, A. Yamini Naga Ratnam1, M. V. S. Ramprasad2, N. Subbulakshmi3, R. Uma Mageswari4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5169-5184, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027974

Abstract Advanced technology used for arithmetic computing application, comprises greater number of approximate multipliers and approximate adders. Truncation and Rounding-based Scalable Approximate Multiplier (TRSAM) distinguish a variety of modes based on height (h) and truncation (t) as TRSAM (h, t) in the architecture. This TRSAM operation produces higher absolute error in Least Significant Bit (LSB) data shift unit. A new scalable approximate multiplier approach that uses truncation and rounding TRSAM (3, 7) is proposed to increase the multiplier accuracy. With the help of foremost one bit architecture, the proposed scalable approximate multiplier approach reduces the partial products. The proposed approximate TRSAM… More >

In recent years, the need for speech enhancement has been increased due to challenges that occurred in various applications such as hearing aids, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), and mobile speech communication systems. Most of the Speech Enhancement research work has been carried out for English, Chinese, and other European languages. Only a few research works involve speech enhancement in Indian regional Languages. In this paper, we propose a two-fold architecture to perform speech enhancement for Tamil speech signal based on convolutional recurrent neural… More >
