    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3489-3502, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033356

Abstract Medical image segmentation is a crucial process for computer-aided diagnosis and surgery. Medical image segmentation refers to portioning the images into small, disjointed parts for simplifying the processes of analysis and examination. Rician and speckle noise are different types of noise in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) that affect the accuracy of the segmentation process negatively. Therefore, image enhancement has a significant role in MRI segmentation. This paper proposes a novel framework that uses 3D MRI images from Kaggle and applies different diverse models to remove Rician and speckle noise using the best possible noise-free image. The proposed techniques consider the… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 3663-3677, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.030064

Abstract The current study proposes a novel technique for feature selection by inculcating robustness in the conventional Signal to noise Ratio (SNR). The proposed method utilizes the robust measures of location i.e., the “Median” as well as the measures of variation i.e., “Median absolute deviation (MAD) and Interquartile range (IQR)” in the SNR. By this way, two independent robust signal-to-noise ratios have been proposed. The proposed method selects the most informative genes/features by combining the minimum subset of genes or features obtained via the greedy search approach with top-ranked genes selected through the robust signal-to-noise ratio (RSNR). The results obtained via… More >

A Robust Asynchrophasor in PMU Using Second-Order Kalman Filter

    Nayef Alqahtani1,2,*, Ali Alqahtani3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.2, pp. 2557-2573, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.026316

Abstract Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) provide Global Positioning System (GPS) time-stamped synchronized measurements of voltage and current with the phase angle of the system at certain points along with the grid system. Those synchronized data measurements are extracted in the form of amplitude and phase from various locations of the power grid to monitor and control the power system condition. A PMU device is a crucial part of the power equipment in terms of the cost and operative point of view. However, such ongoing development and improvement to PMUs’ principal work are essential to the network operators to enhance the grid… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.1, pp. 583-598, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.023093

Abstract In recent years, Internet of Things (IoT) technology has emerged and gradually sprung up. As the needs of large-scale IoT applications cannot be satisfied by the fifth generation (5G) network, wireless communication network needs to be developed into the sixth generation (6G) network. However, with the increasingly prominent security problems of wireless communication networks such as 6G, covert communication has been recognized as one of the most promising solutions. Covert communication can realize the transmission of hidden information between both sides of communication to a certain extent, which makes the transmission content and transmission behavior challenging to be detected by… More > Graphic Abstract

Robust Frequency Estimation Under Additive Symmetric α-Stable Gaussian Mixture Noise

    Peng Wang1, Yulu Tian2, Bolong Men1,*, Hailong Song1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 83-95, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027602

Abstract Here the estimating problem of a single sinusoidal signal in the additive symmetric α-stable Gaussian (ASαSG) noise is investigated. The ASαSG noise here is expressed as the additive of a Gaussian noise and a symmetric α-stable distributed variable. As the probability density function (PDF) of the ASαSG is complicated, traditional estimators cannot provide optimum estimates. Based on the Metropolis-Hastings (M-H) sampling scheme, a robust frequency estimator is proposed for ASαSG noise. Moreover, to accelerate the convergence rate of the developed algorithm, a new criterion of reconstructing the proposal covariance is derived, whose main idea is updating the proposal variance using… More >

    Dur-e-Jabeen1,*, Tahmina Khan2, Rumaisa Iftikhar1, Ali Akbar Siddique1, Samiya Asghar1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 539-557, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.032393

Abstract In recent years, it has been evident that internet is the most effective means of transmitting information in the form of documents, photographs, or videos around the world. The purpose of an image compression method is to encode a picture with fewer bits while retaining the decompressed image’s visual quality. During transmission, this massive data necessitates a lot of channel space. In order to overcome this problem, an effective visual compression approach is required to resize this large amount of data. This work is based on lossy image compression and is offered for static color images. The quantization procedure determines… More >

Abstract To reduce the vibration and sound radiation of underwater cylindrical shells, a skin composed of micro floating raft arrays and a compliant wall is proposed in this paper. A vibroacoustic coupling model of a finite cylindrical shell covered with this skin for the case of turbulence excitation is established based on the shell theories of Donnell. The model is solved with the modal superposition method to investigate the effects of the structural parameters of micro floating raft elements on the performance of reducing vibration and sound radiation of the cylindrical shell of this skin. The results indicate that increasing the… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.6, pp. 2431-2445, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.020779

Abstract In order to improve the condition monitoring and fault diagnosis of wind turbines, a stacked noise reduction autoencoding network based on group normalization is proposed in this paper. The network is based on SCADA data of wind turbine operation, firstly, the group normalization (GN) algorithm is added to solve the problems of stack noise reduction autoencoding network training and slow convergence speed, and the RMSProp algorithm is used to update the weight and the bias of the autoenccoder, which further optimizes the problem that the loss function swings too much during the update process. Finally, in the last layer of… More >
