Dong Qiu, Rongwen Dong, Shuqiao Chen, Andi Li

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.1, pp. 147-150, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1327153

Abstract In this paper, we research the optimization problems with multiple Z-number valued objectives. First, we convert Z-numbers to classical fuzzy numbers to simplify the calculation. A new dominance relationship of two fuzzy numbers based on the lower limit of the possibility degree is proposed. Then according to this dominance relationship, we present a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm to solve the optimization problems. Finally, a simple example is used to demonstrate the validity of the suggested algorithm. More >

Abstract This paper presents a topology optimization method for variable stiffness composite panels with varying fiber orientation and curvilinear fiber path. Non-uniform rational B-Splines (NURBS) based Isogeometric analysis (IGA) is utilized for the numerical computation of the general minimum compliance problem. The sensitivity analysis of the structure compliance function for the density and bi-layer orientation is conducted. The bi-layer fiber paths in the design domain are generated using streamline method and updated by divided pieces reselection method after the optimization process. Several common examples are tested to demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. The results show that the proposed method can… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 351-376, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.08058

Abstract This article presents a systematic research methodology of modular design for conceptual auto body frame by hybrid optimization method. A modified graph-based decomposition optimization algorithm is utilized to generate an optimal BIW assembly topo model composed of “potential modules”. The consistency constraint function in collaborative optimization is extended to maximize the commonality of modules and minimize the performance loss of all car types in the same product family simultaneously. A novel screening method is employed to select both “basic structures” and “reinforcement” modules based on the dimension optimization of the manufacturing elements and the optimal assembly mode; this allows for… More >

Na Li*, Wei Wang*, Bin Ye*, Song Wu†,‡

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 87-100, 2014, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2014.011.087

Abstract ACL damage is one the most frequent causes of knee injuries and thus has long been the focus of research in biomechanics and sports medicine. Due to the anisometric geometry and functional complexity of the ACL in the knee joint, it is usually difficult to experimentally study the biomechanics of ACLs. Anatomically ACL geometry was obtained from both MR images and anatomical observations. The optimal material parameters of the ACL were obtained by using an optimization-based material identification method that minimized the differences between experimental results from ACL specimens and FE simulations. The optimal FE model simulated biomechanical responses of… More >

Comparison of the Virtual Fields Method and the Optimization Method to Characterize Regional Variations in Material Properties of Soft Tissues

    Yue Mei1,2,3, Stephane Avril3,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.2, pp. 44-44, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.07034

Abstract Characterizing regional variations of material properties in soft tissues is essential for biomedical engineering and clinical medicine, including but not limited to cancerous disease detection and patient-specific surgical planning of cardiovascular diseases. Identification of nonhomogeneous material property distribution usually requires solving inverse problems in nonlinear elasticity. Generally, inverse algorithms can be categorized into two groups: iterative inversion and direct inversion. In direct inversion, the material property distribution of soft tissues is estimated directly from the equilibrium equations, while the inverse problem is posed as an optimization problem in iterative inversion. In this presentation, we compare the performance of one direct… More >

Direct Interval Multi-Objective Optimization Method for Uncertain Structures

    Guiping Liu*, Sheng Liu

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.21, No.4, pp. 92-92, 2019, DOI:10.32604/icces.2019.05523

Abstract In engineering multi-objective optimization of structures, the parameters involved in the problems are usually given deterministic values. However, due to the presence of manufacturing and measurement errors, uncertainty inevitably exists in the geometrical properties of the structure, the material properties, the boundary conditions, etc. For uncertain problems, the interval optimization methods are widely used. They describe the uncertainty by intervals which only need to find the upper and lower bounds of the uncertain parameters instead of constructing the exact probability distribution function. However, in multi-objective optimization problems, if considered all the upper and lower bounds of the objective functions as… More >

    Xinyue Liu1, Yunqiao Liu1, Xiaobo Gong1,*, Huaxiong Huang2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.116, No.2, pp. 281-300, 2018, DOI: 10.31614/cmes.2018.04989

Abstract In this work, a three-dimensional axisymmetric model with nanoparticle, receptor-ligand bonds and cell membrane as a system was used to study the quasi-static receptor-mediated endocytosis process of spherical nanoparticles in drug delivery. The minimization of the system energy function was carried out numerically, and the deformations of nanoparticle, receptor-ligand bonds and cell membrane were predicted. Results show that passive endocytosis may fail due to the rupture of receptor-ligand bonds during the wrapping process, and the size and rigidity of nanoparticles affect the total deformation energy and the terminal wrapping stage. Our results suggest that, in addition to the energy requirement,… More >

    Zichun Yang1,2, Maolin Peng1,3,4, Yueyun Cao1, Lei Zhang1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.98, No.4, pp. 409-442, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.098.409

Abstract A new multi-objective reliability-based robust design optimization (M ORBRDO) model is proposed which integrats the multi-objective robustness, the reliability sensitivity robustness and the six sigma robustness design idea. The pure-quadratic polynomial functions are adopted to fit the performance objective functions (POF) and the ultimate limited state functions (ULSF) of the structure. Based on the ULSF and the checking point method, the equations of the first order reliability index are calculated. The mapping transformation method is employed when the non-normal distribution variables are included. According to the POF and the Taylor series expansion method, the equations of mean value and standard… More >

An Interval Optimization Method Considering the Dependence between Uncertain Parameters

    C. Jiang1,2, Q.F. Zhang1, X. Han1, D. Li3, J. Liu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 65-82, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2011.074.065

Abstract In this paper, an interval optimization method is developed to deal with a class of problems that there exists dependence between the interval parameters. An ellipsoidal convex model is used to model the uncertainty domain, in which the parameter dependence can be well reflected through the shape of a multi-dimensional ellipsoid. Based on an order relation and a reliability-based possibility degree of interval, the uncertain optimization can be transformed to a deterministic nesting optimization. An efficient algorithm is then constructed to solve the created nesting optimization, in which a sequence of approximate interval optimizations are created and the optimal design… More >
