    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.3, pp. 1095-1107, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.023256

Abstract Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) records brain activity using electroencephalogram (EEG) headsets in the form of EEG signals; these signals can be recorded, processed and classified into different hand movements, which can be used to control other IoT devices. Classification of hand movements will be one step closer to applying these algorithms in real-life situations using EEG headsets. This paper uses different feature extraction techniques and sophisticated machine learning algorithms to classify hand movements from EEG brain signals to control prosthetic hands for amputated persons. To achieve good classification accuracy, denoising and feature extraction of EEG signals is a significant step. We… More >

    Xueqin Tian1, Jinfei Sun2, Tong Xu1, Mengran Cui2, Xinlei Wang1, Jianxiang Guo2, De-gejirifu1,*, Na Wang1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 723-737, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.015982

Abstract Although the Combined Cooing, Heating and Power System (hereinafter referred to as “CCHP”) improves the capacity utilization rate and energy utilization efficiency, single use of CCHP system cannot realize dynamic matching between supply and demand loads due to the unbalance features of the user’s cooling and heating loads. On the basis of user convenience and wide applicability of clean air energy, this paper tries to put forward a coupled CCHP system with combustion gas turbine and ASHP ordered power by heat, analyze trends of such parameters as gas consumption and power consumption of heat pump in line with adjustment of… More >

    Inamul Hasan1,2,*, R. Mukesh2, P. Radha Krishnan1,2, R. Srinath1, R. B. Dhanya Prakash2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 567-584, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023252

Abstract In this research, the aerodynamic performance and flow characteristics of NASA SC (2)-0714 airfoil and HH02 airfoil in the helicopter main rotor are evidently analyzed. The supercritical airfoil is used in the aircraft for attaining better transonic and high-speed flow characteristics. Moreover, a specialized helicopter airfoil called HH02 is used in the Apache helicopter rotor for increasing the operational speed. As most of the high-speed helicopters are using four-bladed main rotor configuration, it is analyzed with prior attention. The lift and thrust act in different directions for the forward phase of the flight whereas the lift and thrust act in… More >

Abstract In recent years, the emergence of nanotechnology experienced incredible development in the field of medical sciences. During the past decade, investigating the characteristics of nanoparticles during fluid flow has been one of the intriguing issues. Nanoparticle distribution and uniformity have emerged as substantial criteria in both medical and engineering applications. Adverse effects of chemotherapy on healthy tissues are known to be a significant concern during cancer therapy. A novel treatment method of magnetic drug targeting (MDT) has emerged as a promising topical cancer treatment along with some attractive advantages of improving efficacy, fewer side effects, and reduce drug dose. Live Migration of Virtual Machines Using a Mamdani Fuzzy Inference System

    Tahir Alyas1, Iqra Javed1, Abdallah Namoun2, Ali Tufail2, Sami Alshmrany2, Nadia Tabassum3,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.2, pp. 3019-3033, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.019836

Abstract Efforts were exerted to enhance the live virtual machines (VMs) migration, including performance improvements of the live migration of services to the cloud. The VMs empower the cloud users to store relevant data and resources. However, the utilization of servers has increased significantly because of the virtualization of computer systems, leading to a rise in power consumption and storage requirements by data centers, and thereby the running costs. Data center migration technologies are used to reduce risk, minimize downtime, and streamline and accelerate the data center move process. Indeed, several parameters, such as non-network overheads and downtime adjustment, may impact… More >

A Low-Cost, Real-Time Rooftop IoT-Based Photovoltaic (PV) System for Energy Management and Home Automation

Muhammad Uzair*, Salah Al-Kafrawi, Karam Al-Janadi, Ibrahim Al-Bulushi

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.1, pp. 83-101, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2022.016411

Abstract This work discusses the importance of monitoring and energy management of green energy resources in order to minimize the negative impacts of electricity generation by regular power plants. The paper introduces a highly efficient, low-cost rooftop photovoltaics (PV) solar panel system which can provide monitoring, controlling and automation. The proposed system is based on Internet of Things (IoT) and can be used to control different utilities in any premises automatically or set by the user-defined priority list, as compared to the existing IoT-based PV systems which can only perform monitoring and maintenance of the PV panels or only certain parameters,… More >

Performance Analysis of Two-Stage Optimal Feature-Selection Techniques for Finger Knuckle Recognition

    P. Jayapriya*, K. Umamaheswari

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 1293-1308, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.022583

Abstract Automated biometric authentication attracts the attention of researchers to work on hand-based images to develop applications in forensics science. Finger Knuckle Print (FKP) is one of the hand-based biometrics used in the recognition of an individual. FKP is rich in texture, less in contact and known for its unique features. The dimensionality of the features, extracted from the image, is one of the main problems in pattern recognition. Since selecting the relevant features is an important but challenging task, the feature subset selection is an optimization problem. A reduced number of features results in enhanced classification accuracy. The proposed FKP… More >

Performance Analysis of Low Power Interference Cancellation Architecture for OFDM System

    N. Manikanda Devarajan1,*, S. Thenmozhi2, K. Jayaram3, R. Saravanakumar4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 1167-1178, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.021558

Abstract Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a wireless communication technology that is used for highly reliable and high data rate communication. In a multi-user OFDM system, the interference has occurred in the receiver side between the consecutive OFDM symbols. This interference reduces the performance of the OFDM system. To achieve good quality in received symbols the interference level should be minimized. The conventional cancellation system requires higher interference reduction time and power. These limitations of the conventional interference cancellation architectures for OFDM systems are overcome by proposing efficient and low power interference cancellation architecture. Hence, this paper proposes a novel… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.71, No.1, pp. 183-197, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.021860

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) can be termed as an auto-configured and infrastructure-less wireless networks to monitor physical or environmental conditions, such as temperature, sound, vibration, pressure and motion etc. WSNs may comprise thousands of Internet of Things (IoT) devices to sense and collect data from its surrounding, process the data and take an automated and mechanized decision. On the other side the proliferation of these devices will soon cause radio spectrum shortage. So, to facilitate these networks, we integrate Cognitive Radio (CR) functionality in these networks. CR can sense the unutilized spectrum of licensed users and then use these empty… More >
