Abstract This study evaluated the survival effects of metronomic maintenance therapy with oral fluoropyrimidine in patients with stage III colorectal cancer (CRC) according to epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) expression. We enrolled 197 patients with stage III CRC who had undergone radical resection and FOLFOX regimen adjuvant chemotherapy. The clinicopathological features and effects of metronomic maintenance therapy with oral capecitabine (daily dose of 850 mg/m2 , twice daily, on days 1–14 every 3 weeks for 6 months) on survival according to treatment group and EGFR expression were analyzed. By conducting an in vitro cell line study and in vivo study through… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.10, pp. 2291-2301, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.020198

Abstract This study used transcriptome and epigenetic data to predict the prognosis of immune-related genes (IRGs) Apelin (APLN) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The TCGA database has gene expression and clinical data for HCC. And DNA methylation 450 k data for HCC was download from the University of California Santa Cruz (UCSC) Xena browser. Performing clinical and prognostic analysis of APLN expression, results show that APLN is highly expressed in tumor samples. And it has an increasing trend with the development of clinical stage and T stage. To explore the prognostic role of APLN, the Immune-related DNA methylation (DNAm) sites… More >

    JUNXIA LIU1, KE PANG2, FEI HE2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.7, pp. 1661-1673, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018023

Abstract Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and seriously threatens the health of women worldwide. Prognostic models based on immune-related genes help to improve the prognosis prediction and clinical treatment of breast cancer patients. In the study, we used weighted gene co-expression network analysis to construct a co-expression network to screen out highly prognostic immune-related genes. Subsequently, the prognostic immune-related gene signature was successfully constructed from highly immune-related genes through COX regression and LASSO COX analysis. Survival analysis and time receiver operating characteristic curves indicate that the prognostic signature has strong predictive performance. And we… More >

Prognostic, diagnostic and therapeutic potential of endothelial progenitor cells for patients with ischaemic stroke: Hype or Hope

    ULVI BAYRAKTUTAN*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.7, pp. 1593-1598, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018679

Abstract Ischaemic stroke is a debilitating disease with immense personal, societal and economic impact. Thrombolysis with recombinant tissue plasminogen activator remains the only approved pharmacotherapy for this disease. As each year less than 1% of eligible patients receive this therapy worldwide, efficacious new therapeutics are desperately needed. Emerging evidence suggest endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), capable of repairing damaged vasculature, as one such therapeutics. However, questions regarding their optimal dose, delivery route and in vivo survivability remain largely unanswered. Outgrowth endothelial cells, generated in large numbers by ex vivo expansion of EPCs, enable effective assessment of these issues and may eventually serve… More >

    S. Karthik1, Robin Singh Bhadoria2, Jeong Gon Lee3,*, Arun Kumar Sivaraman4, Sovan Samanta5, A. Balasundaram6, Brijesh Kumar Chaurasia7, S. Ashokkumar8

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.1, pp. 243-259, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023864

Abstract Data is always a crucial issue of concern especially during its prediction and computation in digital revolution. This paper exactly helps in providing efficient learning mechanism for accurate predictability and reducing redundant data communication. It also discusses the Bayesian analysis that finds the conditional probability of at least two parametric based predictions for the data. The paper presents a method for improving the performance of Bayesian classification using the combination of Kalman Filter and K-means. The method is applied on a small dataset just for establishing the fact that the proposed algorithm can reduce the time for computing the clusters… More >

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.16, No.1, pp. 81-96, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.016905

Abstract Fatigue crack prediction is a critical aspect of prognostics and health management research. The particle filter algorithm based on Lamb wave is a potential tool to solve the nonlinear and non-Gaussian problems on fatigue growth, and it is widely used to predict the state of fatigue crack. This paper proposes a method of lamb wave-based early fatigue microcrack prediction with the aid of particle filters. With this method, which the changes in signal characteristics under different fatigue crack lengths are analyzed, and the state- and observation-equations of crack extension are established. Furthermore, an experiment is conducted to verify the feasibility… More >

    Chandla Ellis1,*, C. Chellamuthu1, J. Jayaseelan2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 1121-1138, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023079

Abstract Nature's remarkable and merciful gift to the planet Earth is sunlight which may be highly lucrative if harvested and harnessed properly. Photovoltaic (PV) panels are used to convert the solar energy to electrical energy which are currently used to feed AC loads/grid. In this paper, modelling, performance and power flow studies of grid connected single phase inverter fed from PV array under steady state as well as transient conditions are considered. This paper focuses on the study and development of analytical model of micro-grid integrated single phase five level cascaded H-bridge inverter (MGISPFLCHBPVI) powered by a PV panel. A simple… More >

    XIAOFEI LV1,#, XI YU2,#, JIE XU3, MINGYI WANG4, CHENG PENG1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1189-1196, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018249

Abstract The kinesin family member 18A protein was dysregulated in several human cancers and involved in cancer progression. However, the significance in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma (OTSCC) has not been studied. The present study was intended to explore the functions of KIF18A in oral tongue squamous cell carcinoma. The immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay was performed to assess the relationships between the KIF18A protein expression level and clinical-pathological features of the patients. The biological functions of KIF18A in OTSCC cells were investigated by the experiments in vitro and in vivo. Based on immunohistochemistry, we found that KIF18A was correlated with the clinical-pathological… More >
