    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.3, pp. 627-640, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.050321

Abstract Genetic manipulation (either restraint or enhancement) of the biosynthesis pathway of α-linolenic acid (ALA) in seed oil is an important goal in Brassica napus breeding. B. napus is a tetraploid plant whose genome often harbors four and six homologous copies, respectively, of the two fatty acid desaturases FAD2 and FAD3, which control the last two steps of ALA biosynthesis during seed oil accumulation. In this study, we compared their promoters, coding sequences, and expression levels in three high-ALA inbred lines 2006L, R8Q10, and YH25005, a low-ALA line A28, a low-ALA/high-oleic-acid accession SW, and the wildtype ZS11. The expression levels of… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.1, pp. 223-243, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2020.012065

Abstract Readily available chemical fertilizers have resulted in a decline in the use of organic manure (e.g., green manures), a traditionally sustainable source of nutrients. Based on this, we applied urea at the rate of 270 kg ha−1 with and without green manure in order to assess nitrogen (N) productivity in a double rice cropping system in 2017. In particular, treatment combinations were as follows: winter fallow rice-rice (WF-R-R), milk vetch rice-rice (MV-R-R), oil-seed rape rice-rice (R-R-R) and potato crop rice-rice (P-R-R). Results revealed that green manure significantly (p ≤ 0.05) improved the soil chemical properties and net soil organic carbon… More >

    S. Michałowski1, M. A. Mosiewicki2*, M. Kuran´ska1, M. I. Aranguren2, A. Prociak1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.6, No.4, pp. 426-437, 2018, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2017.634163

Abstract Elastomeric polyurethanes were prepared from a reference polyurethane system modified with biobased polyols synthesized using rapeseed or palm oils. The reference material was modified by replacement of the commercial polyol by 10% of biopolyols and also by addition of sisal fibers up to 5 wt%. The higher functionality of the biopolyols increased the crosslinking density of the networks and this was reflected by an increase in hardness and a decrease in water absorption. The effect of the sisal fibers mainly improved the mechanical and thermomechanical properties of the system with rapeseed oil because of good dispersion and strong fiber-matrix interaction.… More >
