    Arka Das1, Anthony Khoury1, Eduardo Divo1, *, Victor Huayamave1, Andres Ceballos2, Ron Eaglin2, Alain Kassab3, Adam Payne4, Vijay Yelundur4, Hubert Seigneur5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.3, pp. 757-777, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.08164

Abstract This paper presents a numerical reduced order model framework to simulate the physics of the thermomechanical processes that occur during c-Si photovoltaic (PV) cell fabrication. A response surface based on a radial basis function (RBF) interpolation network trained by a Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) of the solution fields is developed for fast and accurate approximations of thermal loading conditions on PV cells during the fabrication processes. The outcome is a stand-alone computational tool that provides, in real time, the quantitative and qualitative thermomechanical response as a function of user-controlled input parameters for fabrication processes with the precision of 3D finite… More >

Abstract With the improvement of the national economic level, the number of vehicles is still increasing year by year. According to the statistics of National Bureau of Statics, the number is approximately up to 327 million in China by the end of 2018, which makes urban traffic pressure continues to rise so that the negative impact of urban traffic order is growing. Illegal parking-the common problem in the field of transportation security is urgent to be solved and traditional methods to address it are mainly based on ground loop and manual supervision, which may miss detection and cost much manpower. A Coarse Alignment Based on the Sliding Fixed-Interval Least Squares Denoising Method

    Yongyun Zhu1, Tao Zhang1,*, Mohan Li2, Di Wang1, Shaoen Wu3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.3, pp. 1305-1321, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.06406

Abstract The observation vectors in traditional coarse alignment contain random noise caused by the errors of inertial instruments, which will slow down the convergence rate. To solve the above problem, a real-time noise reduction method, sliding fixed-interval least squares (SFI-LS), is devised to depress the noise in the observation vectors. In this paper, the least square method, improved by a sliding fixed-interval approach, is applied for the real-time noise reduction. In order to achieve a better-performed coarse alignment, the proposed method is utilized to de-noise the random noise in observation vectors. First, the principles of proposed SFI-LS algorithm and coarse alignment… More >

UPFC Based Real-Time Optimization of Power Systems for Dynamic Voltage Regulation

    Serhat Berat Efe1,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.116, No.3, pp. 391-406, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.01784

Abstract Flexible alternating current transmission system (FACTS) components are used to utilize the electrical transmission lines at their optimum capacity. The best way to achieve this optimization is to manage the active and reactive power flows. A unified power flow controller (UPFC) is one of the most significant devices developed for the effective control of power flows. Although conventional UPFC structures can be used to achieve this process, the expansion of power systems has led to the necessity of developing various UPFC devices. This paper focuses on an advanced real time control approach of UPFC for dynamic voltage regulation. The developed… More >

A weakened weak (W2) formulation for certified solutions with bounds, real-time computation and inverse analysis of biomechanics problems

    G. R. Liu1, 2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.12, No.4, pp. 113-114, 2009, DOI:10.3970/icces.2009.012.113

Abstract This paper introduces first a weakened weakform (W2) using a generalized gradient smoothing technique for an unified formulation of a wide class of compatible and incompatible displacement methods including settings of the finite element methods (FEM) and meshfree methods of special properties including the upper bound properties. A G space is first defined to include discontinuous functions allowing the use of much more types of methods/techniques to create shape functions for numerical models; Properties and a set of important inequalities for G spaces are then proven in theory and analyzed in detail. We prove that the numerical methods developed based… More >

Monitoring of Real-Time Complex Deformed Shapes of Thin-Walled Channel Beam Structures Subject to the Coupling Between Bi-Axial Bending and Warping Torsion

    Rui Lu1, Zhanjun Wu1, Qi Zhou1, Hao Xu1,*

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.13, No.3, pp. 267-287, 2019, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2019.06323

Abstract Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a research focus involving a large category of techniques performing in-situ identification of structural damage, stress, external loads, vibration signatures, etc. Among various SHM techniques, those able to monitoring structural deformed shapes are considered as an important category. A novel method of deformed shape reconstruction for thin-walled beam structures was recently proposed by Xu et al. [1], which is capable of decoupling complex beam deformations subject to the combination of different loading cases, including tension/compression, bending and warping torsion, and also able to reconstruct the full-field displacement distributions. However, this method was demonstrated only under… More >

The Quality Assessment of Non-Integer-Hour Data in GPS Broadcast Ephemerides and Its Impact on the Accuracy of Real-Time Kinematic Positioning Over the South China Sea

    Zhangzhen Sun1, Tianhe Xu1,*, Fan Gao1, Chunhua Jiang1, Guochang Xu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 263-280, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.04425

Abstract Abnormal effects in GPS broadcast ephemerides can have a significant effect on real-time navigation and positioning solutions that use the orbit and clock error data provided by GPS broadcast ephemerides. This paper describes three types of non-integer-hour navigation data in GPS broadcast ephemeris data. Compared with GPST integer hour data, we find that there are two types of data blocks for non-integer-hour navigation containing gross errors with different levels of precision, which is reflected in the user range accuracy (URA) of the broadcast ephemeris. These gross errors can cause large deviations when using the GPS broadcast ephemeris for orbit calculation… More >

Abstract Drone also known as unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has drawn lots of attention in recent years. Quadcopter as one of the most popular drones has great potential in both industrial and academic fields. Quadcopter drones are capable of taking off vertically and flying towards any direction. Traditional researches of drones mainly focus on their mechanical structures and movement control. The aircraft movement is usually controlled by a remote controller manually or the trajectory is pre-programmed with specific algorithms. Consumer drones typically use mobile device together with remote controllers to realize flight control and video transmission. Implementing different functions on mobile… More >

Abstract The rapid spread of microblog messages and sensitivity of unexpected events make microblog become the public opinion center of burst events. Online burst events detection oriented real-time microblog message stream has become an important research problem in the field of microblog public opinion. Because of the large amount of real-time microblog message stream and irregular language of microblog message, it is important to process real-time microblog message stream and detect burst events accurately. In this paper, an online burst events detection framework is proposed. In this framework, abnormal messages are detected based on sliding time window and two-level hash table.… More >
