    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.1, pp. 1799-1814, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.018819

Abstract To promote reliable and secure communications in the cognitive radio network, the automatic modulation classification algorithms have been mainly proposed to estimate a single modulation. In this paper, we address the classification of superimposed modulations dedicated to 5G multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) two-way cognitive relay network in realistic channels modeled with Nakagami- distribution. Our purpose consists of classifying pairs of users modulations from superimposed signals. To achieve this goal, we apply the higher-order statistics in conjunction with the MultiBoostAB classifier. We use several efficiency metrics including the true positive (TP) rate, false positive (FP) rate, precision, recall, F-Measure and receiver operating… More >

Abstract As the installation of small cells increases, the use of relay also increases. The relay operates as a base station as well as just an amplifier. As the roles and types of relays become more diverse, appropriate relay selection technology is an effective way to improve communication performance. Many researches for relay selection have been studied to secure the reliability of relay communication. In this paper, the relay selection scheme is proposed for a cooperative system using decode-and-forward (DF) relaying scheme in the mobile communication system. To maintain the transmission rate, the proposed scheme classifies a candidate group considering the… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 575-588, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018245

Abstract In this article, a low-cost electromagnetic structure emulating photonic nanojets is utilized to improve the efficiency of wireless relay networks. The spectral element method, due to its high accuracy, is used to verify the efficiency of the proposed structure by solving the associate field distribution. The application of optimal single-relay selection method shows that full diversity gain with low complexity can be achieved. In this paper, the proposed technique using smart relays combines the aforementioned two methods to attain the benefits of both methods by achieving the highest coding and diversity gain and enhances the overall network performance in terms… More >

Samer Alabed*, Issam Maaz, Mohammad Al-Rabayah

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 539-553, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018061

Abstract In this article, we introduce a new bi-directional dual-relay selection strategy with its bit error rate (BER) performance analysis. During the first step of the proposed strategy, two relays out of a set of N relay-nodes are selected in a way to optimize the system performance in terms of BER, based on the suggested algorithm which checks if the selected relays using the max-min criterion are the best ones. In the second step, the chosen relay-nodes perform an orthogonal space-time coding scheme using the two-phase relaying protocol to establish a bi-directional communication between the communicating terminals, leading to a significant… More >

Abstract Spatial diversity plays a significant role in wireless communication systems, including the Fourth Generation (4G) and Fifth Generation (5G) systems, and it is expected to be a fundamental part of the future wireless communication systems as well. The Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) technology, which is included in the IEEE 802.16j standard, still holds the most crucial position in the 4G spectrum as it promises to improve the throughput, capacity, spectral, and energy efficiency of wireless communication systems in the 2020s. This makes MIMO a viable technology for delay constrained medical and health care facilities. This paper presents an approximate closed-form expression… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 367-376, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1294873

Abstract This paper studies how to deploy relay nodes into traditional wireless sensor networks with constraint aiming to simultaneously optimize two important factors; average energy consumption and average network reliability. We consider tackling this multi-objective (MO) optimization problem with three metaheuristics, which employ greatly different evolutional strategies, and aim at an in-depth analysis of different performances of these metaheuristics to our problem. For this purpose, a statistical procedure is employed to analyse the results for confidence, in consideration of two MO quality metrics; hypervolume and coverage of two sets. After comprehensive analysis of the results, it is concluded that NSGA-II provides… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.2, pp. 1043-1064, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.09819

Abstract Future wireless networks demand high spectral efficiency, energy efficiency and reliability. Cooperative non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) with simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) is considered as one of the novel techniques to meet this demand. In this work, an adaptive power allocation scheme called SWIPT based adaptive power allocation (SWIPT-APA-NOMA) is proposed for a power domain NOMA network. The proposed scheme considers the receiver sensitivity of the end users while calculating the power allocation coefficients in order to prevent wastage of power allocated to user in outage and by offering priority to any one of the users to use… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.1, pp. 401-416, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.06680

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the performance of secondary transmission scheme based on Markov ON-OFF state of primary users in Underlay cognitive radio networks. We propose flexible secondary cooperative transmission schemewith interference cancellation technique according to the ON-OFF status of primary transmitter. For maximal ratio combining (MRC) at destination, we have derived exact closed-form expressions of the outage probability in different situations. The numerical simulation results also reveal that the proposed scheme improve the secondary transmission performance compared with traditional mechanism in terms of secondary outage probability and energy efficiency. CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.63, No.1, pp. 197-212, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.07059

Abstract This paper proposes a hybrid spectrum accessing mechanism by using NOMA-based cooperative transmission and beam-forming technology. In this mechanism, the secondary user employs spectrum-sensing technology to detect the existence of the primary user. If the primary user does not exist, the secondary source user directly transmits data to the destination user. If the primary user exists, the secondary source user finds the optimal relay according to certain selection principle before transmitting data to the destination user through the chosen relay node. For the signal receiving stage, the secondary user takes use of beam-forming technology to receive the signal from both… More >
