Abstract Aiming at optimizing the energy consumption of HVAC, an energy conservation optimization method was proposed for HVAC systems based on the sensitivity analysis (SA), named the sensitivity analysis combination method (SAC). Based on the SA, neural network and the related settings about energy conservation of HVAC systems, such as cooling water temperature, chilled water temperature and supply air temperature, were optimized. Moreover, based on the data of the existing HVAC system, various optimal control methods of HVAC systems were tested and evaluated by a simulated HVAC system in TRNSYS. The results show that the proposed SA combination method can reduce… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2123-2140, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034431

Abstract Machine learning is a technique for analyzing data that aids the construction of mathematical models. Because of the growth of the Internet of Things (IoT) and wearable sensor devices, gesture interfaces are becoming a more natural and expedient human-machine interaction method. This type of artificial intelligence that requires minimal or no direct human intervention in decision-making is predicated on the ability of intelligent systems to self-train and detect patterns. The rise of touch-free applications and the number of deaf people have increased the significance of hand gesture recognition. Potential applications of hand gesture recognition research span from online gaming to… More >

    Rafael Marin Ferro1,2,*, Renato Pavanello2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.2, pp. 1371-1397, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.026043

Abstract This work analyzes the implementation of a continuous method of structural topology optimization (STO) using open-source software for all stages of the topology optimization problem: modeling, sensitivity analysis and optimization. Its implementation involves three main components: numerical analysis using the Finite Element Method (FEM), sensitivity analysis using an Adjoint method and an optimization solver. In order to allow the automated numerical solution of Partial Differential Equations (PDEs) and perform a sensitivity analysis, FEniCS and Dolfin Adjoint software are used as tools, which are open-source code. For the optimization process, Ipopt (Interior Point OPTimizer) is used, which is a software package… More >

    Wenhui Li1, Dazhi Wang1,*, Shuo Cao2, Deshan Kong1, Sihan Wang1, Zhong Hua1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 259-276, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.034622

Abstract In this paper, the axial-flux permanent magnet driver is modeled and analyzed in a simple and novel way under three-dimensional cylindrical coordinates. The inherent three-dimensional characteristics of the device are comprehensively considered, and the governing equations are solved by simplifying the boundary conditions. The axial magnetization of the sector-shaped permanent magnets is accurately described in an algebraic form by the parameters, which makes the physical meaning more explicit than the purely mathematical expression in general series forms. The parameters of the Bessel function are determined simply and the magnetic field distribution of permanent magnets and the air-gap is solved. Furthermore,… More >

Study of the Seepage Mechanism in Thick Heterogeneous Gas Reservoirs

    Xin Huang1,*, Yunpeng Jiang1, Daowu Huang1, Xianke He1, Xianguo Zhang2, Ping Guo3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1679-1691, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.025312

    Abstract

The seepage mechanism plays a crucial role in low-permeability gas reservoirs. Compared with conventional gas reservoirs, low-permeability sandstone gas reservoirs are characterized by low porosity, low permeability, strong heterogeneity, and high water saturation. Moreover, their percolation mechanisms are more complex. The present work describes a series of experiments conducted considering low-permeability sandstone cores under pressure-depletion conditions (from the Xihu Depression in the East China Sea Basin). It is shown that the threshold pressure gradient of a low-permeability gas reservoir in thick layers is positively correlated with water saturation and negatively correlated with permeability and porosity. The reservoir stress sensitivity is… More >

    Donghai Li1,2, Jiawei Tian1, Shengwen Shi2, Shanchao Wang2, Jucai Deng2, Shuilong He1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.136, No.1, pp. 421-445, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.024133

Abstract To better improve the lightweight and fatigue durability performance of the tractor cab, a multi-objective lightweight design of the cab was carried out in this study. First, the finite element model of the cab with counterweight loading was established and then confirmed by the physical testing, and use the inertial relief method to obtain stress distribution under unit load. The cab-frame rigid-flexible coupling multi-body dynamics model was built by Adams/car software. Taking the cab airbag mount displacement and acceleration signals acquired on the proving ground as the desired signals and obtaining the fatigue analysis load spectrum through Femfat-Lab virtual iteration.… More > Graphic Abstract

    Zhijie Zheng1, Song Zhang1, Xiaolei Zhang2, Bo Yang1, Fang Yan3, Xiaoning Ge3,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.3, pp. 633-647, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.024081

Abstract The DC distribution network system equipped with a large number of power electronic equipment exhibits weak damping characteristics and is prone to low-frequency and high-frequency unstable oscillations. The current interpretation of the oscillation mechanism has not been unified. Firstly, this paper established the complete state-space model of the distribution system consisting of a large number of electric vehicles, characteristic equation of the distribution network system is derived by establishing a state-space model, and simplified reduced-order equations describing the low-frequency oscillation and the high-frequency oscillation are obtained. Secondly, based on eigenvalue analysis, the oscillation modes and the influence of the key… More >

A Processor Performance Prediction Method Based on Interpretable Hierarchical Belief Rule Base and Sensitivity Analysis

    Chen Wei-wei1, He Wei1,2,*, Zhu Hai-long1, Zhou Guo-hui1, Mu Quan-qi1, Han Peng1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 6119-6143, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035743

Abstract The prediction of processor performance has important reference significance for future processors. Both the accuracy and rationality of the prediction results are required. The hierarchical belief rule base (HBRB) can initially provide a solution to low prediction accuracy. However, the interpretability of the model and the traceability of the results still warrant further investigation. Therefore, a processor performance prediction method based on interpretable hierarchical belief rule base (HBRB-I) and global sensitivity analysis (GSA) is proposed. The method can yield more reliable prediction results. Evidence reasoning (ER) is firstly used to evaluate the historical data of the processor, followed by a… More >

Abstract Liquefaction is one of the most destructive phenomena caused by earthquakes, which has been studied in the issues of potential, triggering and hazard analysis. The strain energy approach is a common method to investigate liquefaction potential. In this study, two Artificial Neural Network (ANN) models were developed to estimate the liquefaction resistance of sandy soil based on the capacity strain energy concept (W) by using laboratory test data. A large database was collected from the literature. One group of the dataset was utilized for validating the process in order to prevent overtraining the presented model. To investigate the complex influence… More >
