Micro-Expression Recognition Based on Spatio-Temporal Feature Extraction of Key Regions

    Wenqiu Zhu1,2, Yongsheng Li1,2, Qiang Liu1,2,*, Zhigao Zeng1,2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.77, No.1, pp. 1373-1392, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.037216

Abstract Aiming at the problems of short duration, low intensity, and difficult detection of micro-expressions (MEs), the global and local features of ME video frames are extracted by combining spatial feature extraction and temporal feature extraction. Based on traditional convolution neural network (CNN) and long short-term memory (LSTM), a recognition method combining global identification attention network (GIA), block identification attention network (BIA) and bi-directional long short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) is proposed. In the BIA, the ME video frame will be cropped, and the training will be carried out by cropping into 24 identification blocks (IBs), 10 IBs and uncropped IBs. To alleviate… More >

Analysis and Application of the Spatio-Temporal Feature in Wind Power Prediction

    Ruiguo Yu1,2, Zhiqiang Liu1,2, Jianrong Wang1,3, Mankun Zhao1,2, Jie Gao1,3, Mei Yu1,3,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.33, No.4, pp. 267-274, 2018, DOI:10.32604/csse.2018.33.267

Abstract The spatio-temporal feature with historical wind power information and spatial information can effectively improve the accuracy of wind power prediction, but the role of the spatio-temporal feature has not yet been fully discovered. This paper investigates the variance of the spatio-temporal feature. Based on this, a hybrid machine learning method for wind power prediction is designed. First, the training set is divided into several groups according to the variance of the input pattern, and then each group is used to train one or more predictors respectively. Multiple machine learning methods, such as the support vector machine regression and the decision… More >

FP-STE: A Novel Node Failure Prediction Method Based on Spatio-Temporal Feature Extraction in Data Centers

    Yang Yang1,*, Jing Dong1, Chao Fang2, Ping Xie3, Na An3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.3, pp. 1015-1031, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.09404

Abstract The development of cloud computing and virtualization technology has brought great challenges to the reliability of data center services. Data centers typically contain a large number of compute and storage nodes which may fail and affect the quality of service. Failure prediction is an important means of ensuring service availability. Predicting node failure in cloud-based data centers is challenging because the failure symptoms reflected have complex characteristics, and the distribution imbalance between the failure sample and the normal sample is widespread, resulting in inaccurate failure prediction. Targeting these challenges, this paper proposes a novel failure prediction method FP-STE (Failure Prediction… More >

A Dynamical Approach to the Spatio-temporal Features of the Portevin-Le Chatelier Effect

    G.Ananthakrishna1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.7, No.3, pp. 233-240, 2005, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2005.007.233

Abstract We show that the extended Ananthakrishna's model exhibits all the features of the Portevin - Le Chatelier effect including the three types of bands. The model reproduces the recently observed crossover from a low dimensional chaotic state at low and medium strain rates to a high dimensional power law state of stress drops at high strain rates. The dynamics of crossover is elucidated through a study of the Lyapunov spectrum. More >
