    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 309-323, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014802

Abstract As a representative technique in natural language processing (NLP), named entity recognition is used in many tasks, such as dialogue systems, machine translation and information extraction. In dialogue systems, there is a common case for named entity recognition, where a lot of entities are composed of numbers, and are segmented to be located in different places. For example, in multiple rounds of dialogue systems, a phone number is likely to be divided into several parts, because the phone number is usually long and is emphasized. In this paper, the entity consisting of numbers is named as number entity. The discontinuous… More >

    Jilong Bian1,*, Jinfeng Li2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 175-189, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014635

Abstract The stereo matching method based on a space-aware network is proposed, which divides the network into three sections: Basic layer, scale layer, and decision layer. This division is beneficial to integrate residue network and dense network into the space-aware network model. The vertical splitting method for computing matching cost by using the space-aware network is proposed for solving the limitation of GPU RAM. Moreover, a hybrid loss is brought forward to boost the performance of the proposed deep network. In the proposed stereo matching method, the space-aware network is used to calculate the matching cost and then cross-based cost aggregation… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 43-57, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014530

Abstract This paper presents a feature modeling approach to address the 3D structural topology design optimization with feature constraints. In the proposed algorithm, various features are formed into searchable shape features by the feature modeling technology, and the models of feature elements are established. The feature elements that meet the design requirements are found by employing a feature matching technology, and the constraint factors combined with the pseudo density of elements are initialized according to the optimized feature elements. Then, through controlling the constraint factors and utilizing the optimization criterion method along with the filtering technology of independent mesh, the structural… More >

    Xianqing Chen1,2, Yan Yan3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 325-343, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.014489

Abstract Alcoholism is an unhealthy lifestyle associated with alcohol dependence. Not only does drinking for a long time leads to poor mental health and loss of self-control, but alcohol seeps into the bloodstream and shortens the lifespan of the body’s internal organs. Alcoholics often think of alcohol as an everyday drink and see it as a way to reduce stress in their lives because they cannot see the damage in their bodies and they believe it does not affect their physical health. As their drinking increases, they become dependent on alcohol and it affects their daily lives. Therefore, it is important… More >

Exact Run Length Evaluation on a Two-Sided Modified Exponentially Weighted Moving Average Chart for Monitoring Process Mean

Piyatida Phanthuna, Yupaporn Areepong*, Saowanit Sukparungsee

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 23-41, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.013810

Abstract A modified exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) scheme is one of the quality control charts such that this control chart can quickly detect a small shift. The average run length (ARL) is frequently used for the performance evaluation on control charts. This paper proposes the explicit formula for evaluating the average run length on a two-sided modified exponentially weighted moving average chart under the observations of a first-order autoregressive process, referred to as AR(1) process, with an exponential white noise. The performance comparison of the explicit formula and the numerical integral technique is carried out using the absolute relative change… More >

Abstract The steadily growing traffic load has resulted in lots of bridge collapse events over the past decades, especially for short-to-medium span bridges. This study investigated probabilistic and dynamic traffic load effects on short-to-medium span bridges using practical heavy traffic data in China. Mathematical formulations for traffic-bridge coupled vibration and probabilistic extrapolation were derived. A framework for extrapolating probabilistic and dynamic traffic load effect was presented to conduct an efficient and accurate extrapolation. An equivalent dynamic wheel load model was demonstrated to be feasible for short-to-medium span bridges. Numerical studies of two types of simply-supported bridges were conducted based on site-specific… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.127, No.1, pp. 361-384, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.012720

Abstract This work is concerned with the application of a redefined set of extended uniform cubic B-spline (RECBS) functions for the numerical treatment of time-fractional Telegraph equation. The presented technique engages finite difference formulation for discretizing the Caputo time-fractional derivatives and RECBS functions to interpolate the solution curve along the spatial grid. Stability analysis of the scheme is provided to ensure that the errors do not amplify during the execution of the numerical procedure. The derivation of uniform convergence has also been presented. Some computational experiments are executed to verify the theoretical considerations. Numerical results are compared with the existing schemes… More >
