Summary
The rapid evolution of additive manufacturing techniques, ranging from macro-scale Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) to micro/nano-scale high-precision Two-Photon Polymerization (2PP), has revolutionized the design and fabrication of advanced polymer composites and functional structures.
To fully unlock the potential of these manufacturing methods, a deeper understanding of novel polymer systems, advanced composite formulations, and intricate processing–structure–property relationships is essential. Concurrently, the integration of data-driven approaches, artificial intelligence, and machine learning into materials science offers unprecedented capabilities for predicting molecular behaviors, optimizing curing or thermal processing parameters, and tailoring next-generation functional polymers. This Special Issue aims to bridge the gap between advanced polymer chemistry/materials science and intelligent computational optimization.
We invite original research articles, short communications, and comprehensive reviews focusing on the synthesis, advanced processing, microstructural characterization, and emerging functional applications of smart polymer systems. Special emphasis will be placed on studies that leverage hybrid experimental-machine learning methodologies to elucidate how processing conditions dictate the morphological, mechanical, thermal, and functional properties of polymeric materials.
