Abstract In this paper, the influence of NaCl freeze-thaw (F-T) cycles and dry-wet (D-W) alternations on the flexural, compressive and bonding strengths of alkali-activated fly ash (FA) and a blast furnace slag powder (BFS) is investigated. The considered NaCl concentration is 3%. The effect of polypropylene fibers on the mechanical strengths is also examined. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetry (TG) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) are selected to discern the mechanisms underpinning the NaCl-induced erosion. The obtained results indicate that the best results in terms of material resistance are obtained with admixtures containing 60% BFS and 40% FA in terms of mass… More >

Ameer Abed Jaddoa* , Hussain Saad Abd

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.20, pp. 1-12, 2023, DOI:10.5098/hmt.20.6

Abstract In this work, the demeanour of heat transfer in a cooled upstanding turbulent flow condition of supercritical carbon dioxide SC- CO2 was investigated and analyzed. Several scenarios were adopted to handle the experimental data acquired by applying a perpendicular pipe with bending tape used in the examination model. The outcomes were presented using a typical method 'the dimensionless constitution'. Also, a modification was achieved to improve the relationship among the parameters for the processes of up and down flows. The achieved results will help address this research gap on turbulent perpendicular compound heat load based on cooling conditions. Finally, the… More >

PRPF6 promotes metastasis and paclitaxel resistance of ovarian cancer via SNHG16/CEBPB/GATA3 axis

HAN WANG, YINGYING ZHOU, SIYANG ZHANG, YA QI, MIN WANG*

    Oncology Research, Vol.29, No.4, pp. 275-289, 2021, DOI:10.32604/or.2022.03561

Abstract Metastasis and paclitaxel (PTX) resistance are the main reason for the poor prognosis of ovarian cancer (OC). Evidence showed that RNA-binding proteins (RBPs) and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) can modulate post-transcriptional regulation. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship among RBP, lncRNA and OC and to further guide clinical therapy. Immunohistochemistry revealed that pre-mRNA processing factor 6 (PRPF6) was upregulated in OC chemoresistant tissues and was closely related to advanced (Federation of International of Gynecologists and Obstetricians) FIGO stages and chemo-resistance. PRPF6 promoted progression, and PTX resistance in vitro and in vivo. And the transcripts of small… More >
