Abstract Qinghai Lake Basin area in Gangcha county is selected as the study area in terms of desertification change features in this paper. Based on the remote sensing (RS) and global positioning system (GPS) technologies, the desertification information range from 1989 to 2014 in the study area is extracted. Using the method of the decision tree, the desertification in the research area is been divided into four grades including mild desertification, moderate desertification, severe desertification and serious desertification. The change characteristics of desertification in the study area were analyzed in detail, which showed that the desertification in the study area experienced… More >

    Ishani Mishra1,*, Sanjay Jain2, Vivek Maik3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.2, pp. 1109-1123, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.025999

Abstract In wireless body sensor network (WBSN), the set of electrocardiogram (ECG) data which is collected from sensor nodes and transmitted to the server remotely supports the experts to monitor the health of a patient. While transmitting these collected data some adversaries may capture and misuse it due to the compromise of security. So, the major aim of this work is to enhance secure transmission of ECG signal in WBSN. To attain this goal, we present Pity Beetle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (PBOA) based Elliptic Galois Cryptography (EGC) with Chaotic Neural Network. To optimize the key generation process in Elliptic Curve Cryptography… More >

    JUNXIA LIU1, KE PANG2, FEI HE2,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.7, pp. 1661-1673, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018023

Abstract Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world and seriously threatens the health of women worldwide. Prognostic models based on immune-related genes help to improve the prognosis prediction and clinical treatment of breast cancer patients. In the study, we used weighted gene co-expression network analysis to construct a co-expression network to screen out highly prognostic immune-related genes. Subsequently, the prognostic immune-related gene signature was successfully constructed from highly immune-related genes through COX regression and LASSO COX analysis. Survival analysis and time receiver operating characteristic curves indicate that the prognostic signature has strong predictive performance. And we… More >

Abstract Quality control of ginseng currently is mainly based on ginsenoside analysis, but rarely focuses on the volatile organic components. In the current work, an untargeted metabolomics approach, by headspace solid-phase micro-extraction gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC/MS), was elaborated and further employed to holistically compare the compositional difference of the volatile components simultaneously from 12 Panax herbal medicines, which included P. ginseng (PG), P. quinquefolius (PQ), P. notoginseng (PN), red ginseng (PGR), P. ginseng leaf (PGL), P. quinquefolius leaf (PQL), P. notoginseng leaf (PNL), P. ginseng flower (PGF), P. quinquefolius flower (PQF), P. notoginseng flower (PNF), P. japonicus (PJ), and P. japonicusMore >

Interactive Human Interface for ERP Component Extraction from Gifted Children

    Kawther Benharrath1, Amine Ben Slama2,*, Balkine Khadoumi1, Mounir Sayadi1, Hervé Rix3, Olivier Meste3, Sophie Guetat5, Jérôme Lebrun3, Marie-Noële Magnie-Mauro4,5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.2, pp. 1063-1080, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023446

Abstract In the last century, scientists started to give importance to gifted children (GC) and to understand their behavior. Since then, research has pursued the various categories of these children and their early diagnosis in order to find the best control of their skills. Therefore, most researchers focus on recent advances in electroencephalogram (EEG) and cognitive events. The event-related brain potentials (ERPs) technique is generally used in the cognitive neuroscience process. However, it is still a challenge to extract these potentials from a few trials of electroencephalogram (EEG) data. The N400 ERP component is an important part of the studies of… More >

A Deep Learning Breast Cancer Prediction Framework

Asmaa E. E. Ali*, Mofreh Mohamed Salem, Mahmoud Badway, Ali I. EL Desouky

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.3, No.3, pp. 81-96, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jai.2021.022433

Abstract Breast cancer (BrC) is now the world’s leading cause of death for women. Early detection and effective treatment of this disease are the only rescues to reduce BrC mortality. The prediction of BrC diseases is very difficult because it is not an individual disease but a mixture of various diseases. Many researchers have used different techniques such as classification, Machine Learning (ML), and Deep Learning (DL) of the prediction of the breast tumor into Benign and Malignant. However, still there is a scope to introduce appropriate techniques for developing and implementing a more effective diagnosis system. This paper proposes a… More >

Abstract In the context of constructing an embedded system to help visually impaired people to interpret text, in this paper, an efficient High-level synthesis (HLS) Hardware/Software (HW/SW) design for text extraction using the Gamma Correction Method (GCM) is proposed. Indeed, the GCM is a common method used to extract text from a complex color image and video. The purpose of this work is to study the complexity of the GCM method on Xilinx ZCU102 FPGA board and to propose a HW implementation as Intellectual Property (IP) block of the critical blocks in this method using HLS flow with taking account the… More >

Molecular mechanisms of Tanshinone IIA in Hepatocellular carcinoma therapy via WGCNA-based network pharmacology analysis

    HAN ZHAO1, JING GUO1, QINGJIA CHI2, MENG FANG1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1245-1259, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018117

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a worldwide malignant tumor that caused irreversible consequences. Tanshinone IIA has been shown to play a notable role in HCC treatment. However, the potential targets and associating mechanism of Tanshinone IIA against HCC remain unknown. We first screened out 105 overlapping genes by integrating the predicted targets of Tanshinone IIA from multiple databases and the differentially expressed genes of HCC from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Then, we performed weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) using the RNA-seq profiles of overlapping genes and HCC-related clinical information. 23 genes related to clinical tumor grade in the… More >

Arsenic trioxide inhibits the activity of SphK1 by decreasing the level of phosphatidylserine and phosphatidic acid in the human gastric cancer cell line MGC-803

PEI LIU, ZHE CHEN, XIAOQIONG MA*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 737-743, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2021.015786

Abstract Sphingosine kinase 1 (SphK1) is an important synthetase during the synthesis of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) from sphingosine (Sph). Previous studies demonstrated that arsenic trioxide (As2O3) could reduce the level of S1P in human gastric cancer cell line MGC-803, indicating that As2O3 may inhibit the activity of SphK1. In this study, the effect of As2O3 on the SphK1 activation pathway was investigated. Western blot and quantitative real-time PCR analysis were used to evaluate the changes in protein and mRNA levels. The multi-dimensional mass spectrometry-based shotgun lipidomics method (MDMS-SL) was used for the quantitative detection of phosphatidylserine (PS) and phosphatidic acid (PA). The… More >
