    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.4, pp. 1173-1183, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2023.026526

Abstract Although tocopherols are essential for rice development, the molecular details by which their absence affects development remain to be determined. To study how tocopherols function during rice development, we performed a transcriptome deep sequencing (RNA-seq) analysis of the rice cultivar Nipponbare (Nip) and the tocopherol-deficient mutant small grain and dwarf 1-2 (sgd1-2). We identified 563 differentially expressed genes that were enriched in Gene Ontology categories associated with metabolism, stress, cellular responses, and transcriptional regulation. We determined that the total fatty acid composition of Nip and sgd1-2 was comparable, although cell membrane penetrability in sgd1-2 was significantly higher than in Nip… More >

Self-Triggered Consensus Filtering over Asynchronous Communication Sensor Networks

    Huiwen Xue1, Jiwei Wen1,*, Akshya Kumar Swain1, Xiaoli Luan1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.2, pp. 857-871, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020127

Abstract In this paper, a self-triggered consensus filtering is developed for a class of discrete-time distributed filtering systems. Different from existing event-triggered filtering, the self-triggered one does not require to continuously judge the trigger condition at each sampling instant and can save computational burden while achieving good state estimation. The triggering policy is presented for pre-computing the next execution time for measurements according to the filter’s own data and the latest released data of its neighbors at the current time. However, a challenging problem is that data will be asynchronously transmitted within the filtering network because each node self-triggers independently. Therefore,… More >

Zhijian Wu, Li Guo*, Jun Hong

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.1, pp. 611-636, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020694

Abstract The local arc-length method is employed to control the incremental loading procedure for phase-field brittle fracture modeling. An improved staggered algorithm with energy and damage iterative tolerance convergence criteria is developed based on the residuals of displacement and phase-field. The improved staggered solution scheme is implemented in the commercial software ABAQUS with user-defined element subroutines. The layered system of finite elements is utilized to solve the coupled elastic displacement and phase-field fracture problem. A one-element benchmark test compared with the analytical solution was conducted to validate the feasibility and accuracy of the developed method. Our study shows that the result… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 2171-2187, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.028605

Abstract A customized nutrition-rich diet plan is of utmost importance for cancer patients to intake healthy and nutritious foods that help them to be strong enough to maintain their body weight and body tissues. Consuming nutrition-rich diet foods will prevent them from the side effects caused before and after treatment thereby minimizing it. This work is proposed here to provide them with an effective diet assessment plan using deep learning-based automated medical diet system. Hence, an Enhanced Long-Short Term Memory (E-LSTM) has been proposed in this paper, especially for cancer patients. This proposed method will be very useful for cancer patients… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 211-218, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15208993118389

Abstract Osteosarcomas, especially those with metastatic or unresectable disease, have limited treatment options. The antitumor effects of pharmacologic inhibitors of angiogenesis in osteosarcomas are hampered in patients by the rapid development of tumor resistance, notably through increased invasiveness and accelerated metastasis. Here we demonstrated that thrombospondin 1 (TSP-1) is a potent inhibitor of the growth and metastasis of the osteosarcoma cell line MG-63. Moreover, we demonstrate that upregulation of TSP-1 facilitated expression of vasculostatin in MG-63 cells. In angiogenesis assays, overexpression of TSP-1 inhibited MG-63 cells and induced tube formation of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) in a CD36-dependent fashion.… More >

E2-Induced Activation of the NLRP3 Inflammasome Triggers Pyroptosis and Inhibits Autophagy in HCC Cells

Qing Wei1, Rui Zhu1, Junying Zhu, Rongping Zhao, Min Li

    Oncology Research, Vol.27, No.7, pp. 827-834, 2019, DOI:10.3727/096504018X15462920753012

Abstract Emerging evidence suggests that 17β-estradiol (E2) and estrogen receptor (ER) signaling are protective against hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). In our previous study, we showed that E2 suppressed the carcinogenesis and progression of HCC by targeting NLRP3 inflammasome activation, whereas the molecular mechanism by which the NLRP3 inflammasome initiated cancer cell death was not elucidated. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of NLRP3 inflammasome activation on cell death pathways and autophagy of HCC cells. First, we observed an increasing mortality in E2-treated HCC cells, and then apoptotic and pyroptotic cell death were both detected. The mortality of HCC cells was… More >

Research on Distributed Cooperative Control Strategy of Microgrid Hybrid Energy Storage Based on Adaptive Event Triggering

    Wenqian Zhang1, Jingwen Chen1,*, Saleem Riaz3, Naiwen Zheng1, Li Li2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.2, pp. 585-604, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020523

Abstract Distributed collaborative control strategies for microgrids often use periodic time to trigger communication, which is likely to enhance the burden of communication and increase the frequency of controller updates, leading to greater waste of communication resources. In response to this problem, a distributed cooperative control strategy triggered by an adaptive event is proposed. By introducing an adaptive event triggering mechanism in the distributed controller, the triggering parameters are dynamically adjusted so that the distributed controller can communicate only at a certain time, the communication pressure is reduced, and the DC bus voltage deviation is effectively reduced, at the same time,… More >

Abstract Considerable research has considered the design of low-power and high-speed devices. Designing integrated circuits with low-power consumption is an important issue due to the rapid growth of high-speed devices. Embedded static random-access memory (SRAM) units are necessary components in fast mobile computing. Traditional SRAM cells are more energy-consuming and with lower performances. The major constraints in SRAM cells are their reliability and low power. The objectives of the proposed method are to provide a high read stability, low energy consumption, and better writing abilities. A transmission gate-based multi-threshold single-ended Schmitt trigger (ST) 9T SRAM cell in a bit-interleaving structure without… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.17, No.2, pp. 141-146, 2022, DOI:10.32604/chd.2022.019743

Abstract A maternally inherited 828 kb microdeletion of 2q37.3 manifested in a 3-week-old premature boy as left juxtaposition of the atrial appendages associated with tricuspid atresia, double outlet infundibulum, subvalvar pulmonary atresia, large secundum atrial septal defect, and right aortic arch with mirror-image branching, consistent with developmental arrest early in heart looping. To the best of our knowledge, no previous 2q37 deletion syndrome has been reported with such a severe cardiac dysmorphology. Hence, this case adds to the cardiac phenotypes identified in 2q37 deletion syndrome. More >
