    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.3, pp. 1703-1717, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.016919

Abstract Anomaly detection in surveillance videos is an extremely challenging task due to the ambiguous definitions for abnormality. In a complex surveillance scenario, the kinds of abnormal events are numerous and might co-exist, including such as appearance and motion anomaly of objects, long-term abnormal activities, etc. Traditional video anomaly detection methods cannot detect all these kinds of abnormal events. Hence, we utilize multiple probabilistic models inference to detect as many different kinds of abnormal events as possible. To depict realistic events in a scene, the parameters of our methods are tailored to the characteristics of video sequences of practical surveillance scenarios.… More >

Abstract Sorafenib, a multikinase inhibitor used for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma, is limited by its low oral bioavailability. To overcome this drawback, we have developed novel camel milk casein-derived nanoparticles as a drug delivery system. Camel milk casein is not only biocompatible on oral administration but is actually a dietary protein of pharmaceutical relevance. Casein is used because of its amphiphilic nature, self-assembling property, ability to show sustained release, and capability of encapsulating both hydrophilic and hydrophobic drugs. In this study, camel milk casein nanoparticles loaded with sorafenib were developed and characterized. Characterization of casein nanoparticles was done by dynamic… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 111-125, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.016612

Abstract Metabolic reprogramming and immunologic suppression are two critical characteristics promoting the progression of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The integrative analysis of all the metabolism-related genes (MRGs) in HNSCC is lacking and the interaction between the metabolism and the immune characteristics also requires more exploration to uncover the potential mechanisms. Therefore, this study was designed to establish a prognostic signature based on all the MRGs in HNSCC. Genes of HNSCC samples were available from the TCGA and GEO databases while the MRGs were retrieved from a previous study. Ultimately 4 prognostic MRGs were selected to construct a model… More >

Abstract Most interesting area is the growing demand of flying-IoT mergers with smart cities. However, aerial vehicles, especially unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), have limited capabilities for maintaining node energy efficiency. In order to communicate effectively, IoT is a key element for smart cities. While improving network performance, routing protocols can be deployed in flying-IoT to improve latency, packet drop rate, packet delivery, power utilization, and average-end-to-end delay. Furthermore, in literature, proposed techniques are very much complex which cannot be easily implemented in real-world applications. This issue leads to the development of lightweight energy-efficient routing in flying-IoT networks. This paper addresses the… More >

Abstract Digital surveillance systems are ubiquitous and continuously generate massive amounts of data, and manual monitoring is required in order to recognise human activities in public areas. Intelligent surveillance systems that can automatically ide.pngy normal and abnormal activities are highly desirable, as these would allow for efficient monitoring by selecting only those camera feeds in which abnormal activities are occurring. This paper proposes an energy-efficient camera prioritisation framework that intelligently adjusts the priority of cameras in a vast surveillance network using feedback from the activity recognition system. The proposed system addresses the limitations of existing manual monitoring surveillance systems using a… More >

    M. Nuri Seyman*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.40, No.2, pp. 795-804, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.019734

Abstract One of the most important methods used to cope with multipath fading effects, which cause the symbol to be received incorrectly in wireless communication systems, is the use of multiple transceiver antenna structures. By combining the multi-input multi-output (MIMO) antenna structure with non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA), which is a new multiplexing method, the fading effects of the channels are not only reduced but also high data rate transmission is ensured. However, when the maximum likelihood (ML) algorithm that has high performance on coherent detection, is used as a symbol detector in MIMO NOMA systems, the computational complexity of the system… More >

Abstract Power domain non-orthogonal multiple access combined with a universal filtered multi-carrier (NOMA-UFMC) has the potential to cope with fifth generation (5G) unprecedented challenges. NOMA employs power-domain multiplexing to support several users, whereas UFMC is robust to timing and frequency misalignments. Unfortunately, NOMA-UFMC waveform has a high peak-to-average power (PAPR) issue that creates a negative affect due to multicarrier modulations, rendering it is inefficient for the impending 5G mobile and wireless networks. Therefore, this article seeks to presents a discrete Hartley transform (DHT) pre-coding-based NOMA enabled universal filter multicarrier (UFMC) (DHT-NOMA-UFMC) waveform design for lowering the high PAPR. Additionally, DHT precoding… More >
