    Chih-Ping Wu*, Ruei-Syuan Chang

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.141, No.1, pp. 917-949, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.052307 - 20 August 2024

Abstract This work develops a Hermitian C differential reproducing kernel interpolation meshless (DRKIM) method within the consistent couple stress theory (CCST) framework to study the three-dimensional (3D) microstructure-dependent static flexural behavior of a functionally graded (FG) microplate subjected to mechanical loads and placed under full simple supports. In the formulation, we select the transverse stress and displacement components and their first- and second-order derivatives as primary variables. Then, we set up the differential reproducing conditions (DRCs) to obtain the shape functions of the Hermitian C differential reproducing kernel (DRK) interpolant’s derivatives without using direct differentiation. The interpolant’s… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.141, No.1, pp. 187-217, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.051402 - 20 August 2024

Abstract The denoising of microseismic signals is a prerequisite for subsequent analysis and research. In this research, a new microseismic signal denoising algorithm called the Black Widow Optimization Algorithm (BWOA) optimized Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) joint Wavelet Threshold Denoising (WTD) algorithm (BVW) is proposed. The BVW algorithm integrates VMD and WTD, both of which are optimized by BWOA. Specifically, this algorithm utilizes VMD to decompose the microseismic signal to be denoised into several Band-Limited Intrinsic Mode Functions (BLIMFs). Subsequently, these BLIMFs whose correlation coefficients with the microseismic signal to be denoised are higher than a threshold… More >

Abstract Lignin, lignosulfonate, and synthesized phosphorylated lignosulfonate were introduced as green fillers in citric acid-sucrose adhesives for bonding particleboard fabricated from areca leaf sheath (ALS). The characteristics of particleboards were compared to that of ultralow emitting formaldehyde (ULEF-UF). The fillers derived from Eucalyptus spp. kraft-lignin were added for flame retardancy enhancement. 10% of each lignin and modified lignin was added into the ULEF-UF and citric acid-sucrose bonded particleboards. Analyses applied to particleboards included thermal characteristics, X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), morphological properties, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), as well as physical, mechanical, and fire resistance characteristics of the… More > Graphic Abstract

Abstract Natural fibre (NFR) reinforced functional polymer composites are quickly becoming an indispensable sustainable material in the transportation industry because of their lightweight, lower cost in manufacture, and adaptability to a wide variety of goods. However, the major difficulties of using these fibres are their existing poor dimensional stability and the extreme hydrophilicity. In assessing the mechanical properties (MP) of composites, the interfacial bonding (IB) happening between the NFR and the polymer matrix (PM) plays an incredibly significant role. When compared to NFR/synthetic fibre hybrid composites, hybrid composites (HC) made up of two separate NFR are… More > Graphic Abstract

Risk-Balanced Routing Strategy for Service Function Chains of Cyber-Physical Power System Considering Cross-Space Cascading Failure

He Wang, Xingyu Tong, Huanan Yu*, Xiao Hu, Jing Bian

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.9, pp. 2525-2542, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.050594 - 19 August 2024

Abstract Cyber-physical power system (CPPS) has significantly improved the operational efficiency of power systems. However, cross-space cascading failures may occur due to the coupling characteristics, which poses a great threat to the safety and reliability of CPPS, and there is an acute need to reduce the probability of these failures. Towards this end, this paper first proposes a cascading failure index to identify and quantify the importance of different information in the same class of communication services. On this basis, a joint improved risk-balanced service function chain routing strategy (SFC-RS) is proposed, which is modeled as More >

Abstract Since the 1950s, when the Turing Test was introduced, there has been notable progress in machine language intelligence. Language modeling, crucial for AI development, has evolved from statistical to neural models over the last two decades. Recently, transformer-based Pre-trained Language Models (PLM) have excelled in Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks by leveraging large-scale training corpora. Increasing the scale of these models enhances performance significantly, introducing abilities like context learning that smaller models lack. The advancement in Large Language Models, exemplified by the development of ChatGPT, has made significant impacts both academically and industrially, capturing widespread… More >

    Xueli He1,, Shengkun Lv1,, Ruifeng Dou1,*, Yanying Zhang1, Junsheng Wang2, Xunliang Liu1, Zhi Wen1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.2, pp. 2873-2895, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052571 - 15 August 2024

Abstract Four typical theories on the formation of thermal tears: strength, liquid film, intergranular bridging, and solidification shrinkage compensation theories. From these theories, a number of criteria have been derived for predicting the formation of thermal cracks, such as the stress-based Niyama, Clyne, and RDG (Rapaz-Dreiser-Grimaud) criteria. In this paper, a mathematical model of horizontal centrifugal casting was established, and numerical simulation analysis was conducted for the centrifugal casting process of cylindrical Al-Cu alloy castings to investigate the effect of the centrifugal casting process conditions on the microstructure and hot tearing sensitivity of alloy castings by… More >

Abstract Recent advancements in wireless communications have allowed the birth of novel wireless sensor networks (WSN). A sensor network comprises several micro-sensors deployed randomly in an area of interest. A micro-sensor is provided with an energy resource to supply electricity to all of its components. However, the disposed energy resource is limited and battery replacement is generally infeasible. With this restriction, the sensors must conserve energy to prolong their lifetime. Various energy conservation strategies for WSNs have been presented in the literature, from the application to the physical layer. Most of these solutions focus only on… More >
