Strategy for Creating AR Applications in Static and Dynamic Environments Using SLAM- and Marker Detector-Based Tracking

    Chanho Park1,2, Hyunwoo Cho1, Sangheon Park1, Sung-Uk Jung1, Suwon Lee3,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.1, pp. 529-549, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019214

Abstract Recently, simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) has received considerable attention in augmented reality (AR) libraries and applications. Although the assumption of scene rigidity is common in most visual SLAMs, this assumption limits the possibilities of AR applications in various real-world environments. In this paper, we propose a new tracking system that integrates SLAM with a marker detection module for real-time AR applications in static and dynamic environments. Because the proposed system assumes that the marker is movable, SLAM performs tracking and mapping of the static scene except for the marker, and the marker detector estimates the 3-dimensional pose of the… More >

Abstract Metastatic spread of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) to the spleen is uncommon, only occurring in approximately 1% of cases. Atraumatic splenic rupture due to HCC metastasis is extremely rare and affects patient prognosis, clinical management, and mortality. We report a case of a 65-year-old man with a history of chronic hepatitis B infection who presented with left-sided abdominal pain and fatigue. Clinical examination showed acute anemia with elevated levels of serum alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) and protein induced by vitamin K absence (PIVKA-II). On ultrasound and computed tomography imaging, hemoperitoneum caused by a ruptured splenic tumor was revealed. In addition to multiple hepatic… More >

The Method of Fundamental Solutions for Two-Dimensional Elastostatic Problems with Stress Concentration and Highly Anisotropic Materials

    M. R. Hematiyan1,*, B. Jamshidi1, M. Mohammadi2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.3, pp. 1349-1369, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.018235

Abstract The method of fundamental solutions (MFS) is a boundary-type and truly meshfree method, which is recognized as an efficient numerical tool for solving boundary value problems. The geometrical shape, boundary conditions, and applied loads can be easily modeled in the MFS. This capability makes the MFS particularly suitable for shape optimization, moving load, and inverse problems. However, it is observed that the standard MFS lead to inaccurate solutions for some elastostatic problems with stress concentration and/or highly anisotropic materials. In this work, by a numerical study, the important parameters, which have significant influence on the accuracy of the MFS for… More >

Abstract Security weaknesses in web applications deployed in cloud architectures can seriously affect its data confidentiality and integrity. The construction of the procedure utilized in the static analysis tools of source code security differs and therefore each tool finds a different number of each weakness type for which it is designed. To utilize the possible synergies different static analysis tools may process, this work uses a new method to combine several source codes aiming to investigate how to increase the performance of security weakness detection while reducing the number of false positives. Specifically, five static analysis tools will be combined with… More >

Abstract According to the literature, different mechanisms and kinetics proceeding of regenerative growth has been established using the basic models of liver regeneration (after resection or chemically induced). Hence, in order to determine general regularities of the adaptive-compensatory processes in various pathological conditions, the processes taking place in the cholestatic liver of adult white rats during the first four days after common bile duct ligation have been studied. It has been shown that in cholestatic liver, compensatory-adaptive processes take place with different kinetics compared to those after resection. In particular, in response to the increased functional load caused by destructive processes… More >

    Sound & Vibration, Vol.55, No.3, pp. 253-262, 2021, DOI:10.32604/sv.2021.011627

Abstract The analysis of spliced column has been carried out to detect optimum location of providing splices in the column. In the present work, static and dynamic (free vibration) analyses of spliced column have been done by randomising the location of splicing. A symmetrical four storey steel framed building has been modelled, analysed and designed for loads (dead, live and earthquake loads) recommended by Indian Codal provisions using Staad.Pro. The critical column at each floor level is identified based on axial force (AF), bending moment (BM) and shear force (SF). The total 16 models of spliced columns have been designed and… More >
