Abstract Fusarium head blight (FHB) is a disease caused by several Fusarium species, notably, F. culmorum and F. graminearum. These pathogens adversely affect the technological and sanitary qualities of cereal grains, particularly durum wheat. Under favorable environmental conditions and in susceptible varieties, these Fusarium species can significantly reduce both the quantity and quality of crops. This study evaluated the pathogenicity of the two Fusarium species (FC2006 and FG2008) in the growth of durum wheat coleoptiles. The plant material included four commercially grown parental varieties (G9, G10, G11, G12) and eight breeding lines (G1, G2, G3, G4, G5, G6, G7, G8).… More >

A Digital Twin Framework for Structural Strength Monitoring

    Ziyu Xu1, Kuo Tian1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.011245

Abstract Considering experimental testing data is costly, and sensor data is often sparse, while simulation analysis provides overall strength information with lower accuracy, a digital twin framework is proposed for full-field structural strength assessment and prediction. The framework is mainly divided into two stages. In the offline stage, the simulation model of the structure is established, and the sensor layouts are completed. Then, the DNN pre-training model is constructed based on the reduced simulation data. In the online stage, the experimentally measured data are predicted to obtain the time-series sensors data, and the traditional transfer learning… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.121, No.11, pp. 3263-3287, 2024, DOI:10.32604/ee.2024.054019 - 21 October 2024

Abstract Currently, the operational performance assessment system in the power market primarily focuses on power generation and electricity retail companies, lacking a system tailored to the operational characteristics of power generation/selling integrated companies. Therefore, this article proposes an assessment index system for assessing the operational performance of a power generation/selling integrated company, encompassing three dimensions: basic capacity, development potential, and external environment. A dynamic proportional adjustment coefficient is designed, along with a subjective and objective weighting model for assessment indexes based on a combined weighting method. Subsequently, the operational performance of an integrated company is assessed More > Graphic Abstract

Using Machine Learning to Determine the Efficacy of Socio-Economic Indicators as Predictors for Flood Risk in London

    Grace Gau1, Minerva Singh2,3,*

    Revue Internationale de Géomatique, Vol.33, pp. 427-443, 2024, DOI:10.32604/rig.2024.055752 - 11 October 2024

Abstract This study examines how socio-economic characteristics predict flood risk in London, England, using machine learning algorithms. The socio-economic variables considered included race, employment, crime and poverty measures. A stacked generalization (SG) model combines random forest (RF), support vector machine (SVM), and XGBoost. Binary classification issues employ RF as the basis model and SVM as the meta-model. In multiclass classification problems, RF and SVM are base models while XGBoost is meta-model. The study utilizes flood risk labels for London areas and census data to train these models. This study found that SVM performs well in binary… More >

Mario Eugenio Sello1,*, Rafael Adrian Maddio1, Santiago Ignacio Hurtado1, Daniel Alejandro Castillo1, Daiana Vanesa Perri1, Octavio Agusto Bruzzone2, Marcos Horacio Easdale1

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.93, No.9, pp. 2479-2498, 2024, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2024.053168 - 30 September 2024

Abstract Adaptive management in arid and semi-arid regions of Patagonia, Argentina, requires a thorough understanding of vegetative dynamics, which can be obtained via rangeland assessment and monitoring. These practices are essential for decision-making to prevent environmental degradation, especially in the light of drought aggravated by climate change. In turn, most methods used to evaluate rangelands focus on data obtained from field measurements and vegetation classifications based on remote sensing data. One of the most frequent problems is that field-based rangeland assessments, based on field measurements, turn out to be expensive because they require high efforts in… More >
