    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3459-3478, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.025521

Abstract The generation of electricity based on renewable energy sources, particularly Photovoltaic (PV) system has been greatly increased and it is simply instigated for both domestic and commercial uses. The power generated from the PV system is erratic and hence there is a need for an efficient converter to perform the extraction of maximum power. An improved interleaved Single-ended Primary Inductor-Converter (SEPIC) converter is employed in proposed work to extricate most of power from renewable source. This proposed converter minimizes ripples, reduces electromagnetic interference due to filter elements and the continuous input current improves the power output of PV panel. A… More >

    N. Kanagaraj*, Mohammed Al-Ansi

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 769-784, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.029457

Abstract In this research, a modified fractional order proportional integral derivate (FOPID) control method is proposed for the photovoltaic (PV) and thermoelectric generator (TEG) combined hybrid renewable energy system. The faster tracking and steady-state output are aimed at the suggested maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control technique. The derivative order number (µ) value in the improved FOPID (also known as PIλDµ) control structure will be dynamically updated utilizing the value of change in PV array voltage output. During the transient, the value of µ is changeable; it’s one at the start and after reaching the maximum power point (MPP), allowing for… More >

An Adaptive Wireless Power Sharing Control for Multiterminal HVDC

    Hasan Alrajhi*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 117-129, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.022464

Abstract Power sharing among multiterminal high voltage direct current terminals (MT-HVDC) is mainly developed based on a priority or sequential manners, which uses to prevent the problem of overloading due to a predefined controller coefficient. Furthermore, fixed power sharing control also suffers from an inability to identify power availability at a rectification station. There is a need for a controller that ensures an efficient power sharing among the MT-HVDC terminals, prevents the possibility of overloading, and utilizes the available power sharing. A new adaptive wireless control for active power sharing among multiterminal (MT-HVDC) systems, including power availability and power management policy,… More >

Implementation of FPGA Based MPPT Techniques for Grid-Connected PV System

    Thamatapu Eswara Rao*, S. Elango

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1783-1798, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.028835

Abstract Global energy demand is growing rapidly owing to industrial growth and urbanization. Alternative energy sources are driven by limited reserves and rapid depletion of conventional energy sources (e.g., fossil fuels).Solar photovoltaic (PV), as a source of electricity, has grown in popularity over the last few decades because of their clean, noise-free, low-maintenance, and abundant availability of solar energy. There are two types of maximum power point tracking (MPPT) techniques: classical and evolutionary algorithm-based techniques. Precise and less complex perturb and observe (P&O) and incremental conductance (INC) approaches are extensively employed among classical techniques. This study used a field-programmable gate array… More >

Buck Converter Current Measurement Using Differential Amplifier

    P. Rajeswari*, V. Manikandan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1387-1402, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.025866

Abstract The accuracy of the measured current is a preeminent parameter for Current Control based Power Converter applications to ensure genuine operation of the designed converter. The current measurement accuracy can be affected by several parameters which includes the type of technology used, components used for the selected technology, aging, usage, operating and environmental conditions. The effect of gain resistors and their manufacturing tolerances on differential amplifier-based buck converter current measurement is investigated in this work. The analysis mainly focused on the output voltage variation and its accuracy with respect to the change in gain resistance tolerances. The gain resistors with… More >

    E. Jessy Mol*, M. Mary Linda

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 1471-1489, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.024027

Abstract The prominence of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) in the process of power generation is exponentially increased in the recent days since these sources assist in minimizing the environmental contamination. A grid-tied DFIG (Doubly Fed Induction Generator) based WECS (Wind Energy Conversion System) is introduced in this work, in which a Landsman converter is implemented to improvise the output voltage of PV without any fluctuations. A novel GA (Genetic Algorithm) assisted ANN (Artificial Neural Network) is employed for tracking the Maximum power from PV. Among the rotor and grid side controllers, the former is implemented by combining the stator flux with… More >

    R. S. Preethishri*, J. Anitha Roseline, K. Murugesan, M. Senthil Kumaran

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 997-1014, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.025510

Abstract The Power Factor Correction (PFC) in Switched Reluctance (SR) motor is discussed in this article. The SR motors are applicable for multiple applications like electric vehicles, wind mills, machineries etc. The doubly salient structure of SR motor causes the occurrence of torque ripples, which affects the power factor of the motor. To improve the power quality, the power factor has to be corrected and the ripples have to be minimized. In order to achieve these objectives, a novel power factor correction (PFC) method is proposed in this work. Here, the conventional Diode Bridge Rectifier (DBR) is replaced by a Bridgeless… More >
