    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.3, pp. 447-458, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014590

Abstract In this work, a life cycle analysis is accomplished for flat plate solar collectors. The purpose of this investigation is to predict the energy consumption during the manufacturing processes that results in carbon dioxide emissions. Energy consumption and system efficiency enhancement will be studied and predicted. CES EduPack software is used to perform the analysis of the currently commercial system, and the suggested changes are implemented to increase the efficiency and make the comparison. Even though cost analysis is done, the priority of selection is given to the most energy conserving and environmentally friendly alternative. However, if the compared alternatives… More >

Abstract The design of green cellular networking according to the traffic arrivals has the capability to reduce the overall energy consumption to a cluster in a cost-effective way. The cell zooming approach has appealed much attention that adaptively offloads the BS load demands adjusting the transmit power based on the traffic intensity and green energy availability. Besides, the researchers are focused on implementing renewable energy resources, which are considered the most attractive practices in designing energy-efficient wireless networks over the long term in a cost-efficient way in the existing infrastructure. The utilization of available solar can be adapted to acquire cost-effective… More >

A Heuristics-Based Cost Model for Scientific Workflow Scheduling in Cloud

Ehab Nabiel Al-Khanak1,*, Sai Peck Lee2, Saif Ur Rehman Khan3, Navid Behboodian4, Osamah Ibrahim Khalaf5, Alexander Verbraeck6, Hans van Lint1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 3265-3282, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015409

Abstract Scientific Workflow Applications (SWFAs) can deliver collaborative tools useful to researchers in executing large and complex scientific processes. Particularly, Scientific Workflow Scheduling (SWFS) accelerates the computational procedures between the available computational resources and the dependent workflow jobs based on the researchers’ requirements. However, cost optimization is one of the SWFS challenges in handling massive and complicated tasks and requires determining an approximate (near-optimal) solution within polynomial computational time. Motivated by this, current work proposes a novel SWFS cost optimization model effective in solving this challenge. The proposed model contains three main stages: (i) scientific workflow application, (ii) targeted computational environment,… More >

Secure Localization Based Authentication (SLA) Strategy for Data Integrity in WNS

    V. Manikandan1,*, M. Sivaram1, Amin Salih Mohammed2, V. Porkodi3, K. Shankar4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.3, pp. 4005-4018, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014643

Abstract Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has been extensively utilized as a communication model in Internet of Things (IoT). As well, to offer service, numerous IoT based applications need effective transmission over unstable locations. To ensure reliability, prevailing investigations exploit multiple candidate forwarders over geographic opportunistic routing in WSNs. Moreover, these models are affected by crucial denial of service (DoS) attacks, where huge amount of invalid data are delivered intentionally to the receivers to disturb the functionality of WSNs. Here, secure localization based authentication (SLA) is presented to fight against DoS attack, and to fulfil the need of reliability and authentication. By… More >

Economical Requirements Elicitation Techniques During COVID-19: A Systematic Literature Review

    Tauqeer ul Amin1,*, Basit Shahzad1, Fazal-e-Amin2, Muhammad Shoaib2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 2665-2680, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013263

Abstract Requirements elicitation is a fundamental phase of software development in which an analyst discovers the needs of different stakeholders and transforms them into requirements. This phase is cost- and time-intensive, and a project may fail if there are excessive costs and schedule overruns. COVID-19 has affected the software industry by reducing interactions between developers and customers. Such a lack of interaction is a key reason for the failure of software projects. Projects can also fail when customers do not know precisely what they want. Furthermore, selecting the unsuitable elicitation technique can also cause project failure. The present study, therefore, aimed… More >

Optimal Resource Allocation and Quality of Service Prediction in Cloud

    Priya Baldoss1,2,*, Gnanasekaran Thangavel3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 253-265, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.013695

Abstract In the present scenario, cloud computing service provides on-request access to a collection of resources available in remote system that can be shared by numerous clients. Resources are in self-administration; consequently, clients can adjust their usage according to their requirements. Resource usage is estimated and clients can pay according to their utilization. In literature, the existing method describes the usage of various hardware assets. Quality of Service (QoS) needs to be considered for ascertaining the schedule and the access of resources. Adhering with the security arrangement, any additional code is forbidden to ensure the usage of resources complying with QoS.… More >

A Review of Energy-Related Cost Issues and Prediction Models in Cloud Computing Environments

    Mohammad Aldossary*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 353-368, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014974

Abstract With the expansion of cloud computing, optimizing the energy efficiency and cost of the cloud paradigm is considered significantly important, since it directly affects providers’ revenue and customers’ payment. Thus, providing prediction information of the cloud services can be very beneficial for the service providers, as they need to carefully predict their business growths and efficiently manage their resources. To optimize the use of cloud services, predictive mechanisms can be applied to improve resource utilization and reduce energy-related costs. However, such mechanisms need to be provided with energy awareness not only at the level of the Physical Machine (PM) but… More >

Ordering Cost Depletion in Inventory Policy with Imperfect Products and Backorder Rebate

    Sandeep Kumar1, Teekam Singh1,2, Kamaleldin Abodayeh3, Wasfi Shatanawi3,4,5,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2343-2357, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014224

Abstract This study presents an inventory model for imperfect products with depletion in ordering costs and constant lead time where the price discount in the backorder is permitted. The imperfect products are refused or modified or if they reached to the customer, returned and thus some extra costs are experienced. Lately some of the researchers explicitly present on the significant association between size of lot and quality imperfection. In practical situations, the unsatisfied demands increase the period of lead time and decrease the backorders. To control customers' problems and losses, the supplier provides a price discount in backorders during shortages. Also,… More >

A Genetic Algorithm Optimization for Multi-Objective Multicast Routing

    Ahmed Y. Hamed1, Monagi H. Alkinani2, M. R. Hassan3,*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.6, pp. 1201-1216, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.012663

Abstract Many applications require to send information from a source node to multiple destinations nodes. To support these applications, the paper presents a multi-objective based genetic algorithm, which is used in the construction of the multicast tree for data transmission in a computer network. The proposed algorithm simultaneously optimizes total weights (cost, delay, and hop) of the multicast tree. Experimental results prove that the proposed algorithm outperforms a recently published Multi-objective Multicast Algorithm specially designed for solving the multicast routing problem. Also, the proposed approach has been applied to ten-node and twenty-node network to illustrate its efficiency. In addition, the execution… More >
