    Read-Write Dependency Aware Register Allocation

    Sheng Xiao1,*, Yong Chen2, Jing He3, Xi Yang4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.3, pp. 3527-3540, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.027081 - 03 April 2023

Abstract Read-write dependency is an important factor restricting software efficiency. Timing Speculative (TS) is a processing architecture aiming to improve energy efficiency of microprocessors. Timing error rate, influenced by the read-write dependency, bottlenecks the voltage down-scaling and so the energy efficiency of TS processors. We proposed a method called Read-Write Dependency Aware Register Allocation. It is based on the Read-Write Dependency aware Interference Graph (RWDIG) conception. Registers are reallocated to loosen the read-write dependencies, so resulting in a reduction of timing errors. The traditional no operation (Nop) padding method is also redesigned to increase the distance More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.7, pp. 1863-1873, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.024925 - 08 March 2023

Abstract In order to ensure the safe operation of the compressors used in water chillers, in the present study some interlock protections have been added to the related design. These include a low pressure protection, a high pressure protection, an exhaust temperature protection and a differential pressure protection. Some tests have been conducted by tuning the saturation suction and exhaust temperatures of the compressor through adjustment of the cold source outlet temperature and the ambient temperature. The results show that the ambient temperature increases with decreasing device load and increasing fan speed under the same saturated More > Graphic Abstract

    Ahmed Najat Ahmed1, JinHyung Kim2, Yunyoung Nam3,*, Mohamed Abouhawwash4,5

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.2, pp. 2527-2542, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.036106 - 09 February 2023

Abstract In this current century, most industries are moving towards automation, where human intervention is dramatically reduced. This revolution leads to industrial revolution 4.0, which uses the Internet of Things (IoT) and wireless sensor networks (WSN). With its associated applications, this IoT device is used to compute the received WSN data from devices and transfer it to remote locations for assistance. In general, WSNs, the gateways are a long distance from the base station (BS) and are communicated through the gateways nearer to the BS. At the gateway, which is closer to the BS, energy drains… More >

    Mohamed Amine Ouamri1,2, Reem Alkanhel3,*, Daljeet Singh4, El-sayed M. El-kenaway5, Sherif S. M. Ghoneim6

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 73-92, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.034461 - 20 January 2023

Abstract Increasing the coverage and capacity of cellular networks by deploying additional base stations is one of the fundamental objectives of fifth-generation (5G) networks. However, it leads to performance degradation and huge spectral consumption due to the massive densification of connected devices and simultaneous access demand. To meet these access conditions and improve Quality of Service, resource allocation (RA) should be carefully optimized. Traditionally, RA problems are nonconvex optimizations, which are performed using heuristic methods, such as genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization, and simulated annealing. However, the application of these approaches remains computationally expensive and unattractive… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.46, No.1, pp. 1153-1168, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.030802 - 20 January 2023

Abstract In every network, delay and energy are crucial for communication and network life. In wireless sensor networks, many tiny nodes create networks with high energy consumption and compute routes for better communication. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) is a very complex scenario to compute minimal delay with data aggregation and energy efficiency. In this research, we compute minimal delay and energy efficiency for improving the quality of service of any WSN. The proposed work is based on energy and distance parameters as taken dependent variables with data aggregation. Data aggregation performs on different models, namely Hybrid-Low… More >

Abstract Due to the fact that network space is becoming more limited, the implementation of ultra-dense networks (UDNs) has the potential to enhance not only network coverage but also network throughput. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) communications have recently garnered a lot of attention due to the fact that they are extremely versatile and may be applied to a wide variety of contexts and purposes. A cognitive UAV is proposed as a solution for the Internet of Things ground terminal’s wireless nodes in this article. In the IoT system, the UAV is utilised not only to determine… More >

Evaluation of Process and Economic Feasibility of Implementing a Topping Cycle Cogeneration

    Unique Karki*, Bhaskaran Gopalakrishnan

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.2, pp. 345-365, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.025600 - 29 November 2022

Abstract Industrial applications that require steam for their end-use generally utilize steam boilers that are typically oversized, citing operations flexibility. Similarly, gas turbine-based power plants corroborate a gas turbine system that may eventually relieve the usable exhaust into the atmosphere. This study explores the economic and technical feasibility of a topping cycle combined heat and power (CHP) system. It does so by leveraging a partially loaded boiler or gas turbine by increasing its unused load to generate steam and heat for subsequent usage. To this end, a decision support tool (COGENTEC) was developed, which emulates a… More > Graphic Abstract

Improved Metaheuristic Based Failure Prediction with Migration Optimization in Cloud Environment

    K. Karthikeyan1,*, Liyakathunisa2, Eman Aljohani2, Thavavel Vaiyapuri3

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 1641-1654, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.031582 - 03 November 2022

Abstract Cloud data centers consume high volume of energy for processing and switching the servers among different modes. Virtual Machine (VM) migration enhances the performance of cloud servers in terms of energy efficiency, internal failures and availability. On the other end, energy utilization can be minimized by decreasing the number of active, underutilized sources which conversely reduces the dependability of the system. In VM migration process, the VMs are migrated from underutilized physical resources to other resources to minimize energy utilization and optimize the operations. In this view, the current study develops an Improved Metaheuristic Based… More >
