Developments and Applications of Neutrosophic Theory in Civil Engineering Fields: A Review

    Zhenhan Zhang, Jun Ye*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 887-916, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.022961

Abstract Neutrosophic theory can effectively and reasonably express indeterminate, inconsistent, and incomplete information. Since Smarandache proposed the neutrosophic theory in 1998, neutrosophic theory and related research have been developed and applied to many important fields. Indeterminacy and fuzziness are one of the main research issues in the field of civil engineering. Therefore, the neutrosophic theory is very suitable for modeling and applications of civil engineering fields. This review paper mainly describes the recent developments and applications of neutrosophic theory in four important research areas of civil engineering: the neutrosophic decision-making theory and applied methods, the neutrosophic evaluation methods and applications of… More >

A New Three-Parameter Inverse Weibull Distribution with Medical and Engineering Applications

    Refah Alotaibi1, Hassan Okasha2,3, Hoda Rezk4, Mazen Nassar2,5,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.135, No.2, pp. 1255-1274, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.022623

Abstract The objective of this article is to provide a novel extension of the conventional inverse Weibull distribution that adds an extra shape parameter to increase its flexibility. This addition is beneficial in a variety of fields, including reliability, economics, engineering, biomedical science, biological research, environmental studies, and finance. For modeling real data, several expanded classes of distributions have been established. The modified alpha power transformed approach is used to implement the new model. The data matches the new inverse Weibull distribution better than the inverse Weibull distribution and several other competing models. It appears to be a distribution designed to… More >

Research on Representative Engineering Applications of Anemometer Towers Location in Complex Topography Wind Resource Assessment

    Hao Liu1, Xiaoyang Zhang1, Zhongjie Yan1,*, Yingjian Yang2,3, Qing’an Li3,4,5, Chang Cai3,4

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.1, pp. 163-179, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.019927

Abstract The typical location and number of anemometer towers in the assessed area are the key to the accuracy of wind resource assessment in complex topography. As calculation examples, this paper used two typical complex topography wind farms in Guangxi, Yunnan province in China. Firstly, we simulated the wind resource status of the anemometer tower in the Meteodyn WT software. Secondly, we compared the simulated wind resource with the actual measured data by the anemometer tower in the same situation. Thirdly, we analyzed the influence of anemometer tower location and quantity in the accuracy of wind resource assessment through the comparison… More >

DC-Link Capacitor Optimization in AC–DC Converter by Load Current Prediction

    V. V. Nijil*, P. Selvan

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 1043-1062, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.028028

Abstract Alternating Current–Direct Current (AC–DC) converters require a high value bulk capacitor or a filter capacitor between the DC–DC conversion stages, which in turn causes many problems in the design of a AC–DC converter. The component package size for this capacitor is large due to its high voltage rating and capacitance value. In addition, the high charging current creates more problems during the product compliance testing phase. The shelf life of these specific high value capacitors is less than that of Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC), which limits its use for the highly reliable applications. This paper presents a feasibility study to… More >

Dental pulp stem cells and banking of teeth as a lifesaving therapeutic vista

    SUKUMARAN ANIL1,2,*, RAMYA RAMADOSS3, NEBU G. THOMAS4, JASMIN M. GEORGE4, VISHNUPRIYA K. SWEETY4

    BIOCELL, Vol.47, No.1, pp. 71-80, 2023, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2023.024334

Abstract Exfoliated deciduous or an extracted healthy adult tooth can be used to harvest, process, and cryogenically preserve dental pulp stem cells. Future stem cell-based regenerative medicine methods could benefit significantly from these mesenchymal stem cells. Teeth serve as a substantial source of mesenchymal stem cells, otherwise disposed of as medical waste. Care should be taken to store this treasure trove of stem cells. Collective responsibility of patients, dentists, and physicians is necessary to ensure that this valuable resource is not wasted and that every possible dental pulp stem cell is available for use in the future. The dental pulp stem… More >

Empirical Analysis of Software Success Rate Forecasting During Requirement Engineering Processes

    Muhammad Hasnain1, Imran Ghani2, Seung Ryul Jeong3,*, Muhammad Fermi Pasha4, Sardar Usman5, Anjum Abbas6

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 783-799, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.030162

Abstract Forecasting on success or failure of software has become an interesting and, in fact, an essential task in the software development industry. In order to explore the latest data on successes and failures, this research focused on certain questions such as is early phase of the software development life cycle better than later phases in predicting software success and avoiding high rework? What human factors contribute to success or failure of a software? What software practices are used by the industry practitioners to achieve high quality of software in their day-to-day work? In order to conduct this empirical analysis a… More >

Polymers from Renewable Resources: Perspectives in Biomedical Applications

Andrea Morelli, Dario Puppi, Federica Chiellini*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 83-112, 2013, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2012.634106

Abstract Polymers, particularly those susceptible to undergoing biodegradation under physiological environments, can be considered the materials of choice for biomedical applications such as tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, and controlled and targeted drug delivery. The development of these relatively new fi elds of biomedical research represents the driving force towards the exploitation of renewable resources for the obtainment of biobased polymeric biomaterials. This perspective article reports on the biomedical applications of three major categories of biobased polymeric materials obtained from renewable resources, namely, polysaccharides, proteins and polyesters of natural origins. Particular emphasis is given to biobased polymers that display only minor modifi… More >

An Optimized Technique for RNA Prediction Based on Neural Network

Ahmad Ali AlZubi*, Jazem Mutared Alanazi

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.3, pp. 3599-3611, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.027913

Abstract Pathway reconstruction, which remains a primary goal for many investigations, requires accurate inference of gene interactions and causality. Non-coding RNA (ncRNA) is studied because it has a significant regulatory role in many plant and animal life activities, but interacting micro-RNA (miRNA) and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) are more important. Their interactions not only aid in the in-depth research of genes’ biological roles, but also bring new ideas for illness detection and therapy, as well as plant genetic breeding. Biological investigations and classical machine learning methods are now used to predict miRNA-lncRNA interactions. Because biological identification is expensive and time-consuming, machine… More >

Due to the high costs of exposure to excessive noise; continuous sound evaluation, propose and implement noise control plans in occupational environments is necessary. Thus, the present study aimed to review environmental sound measurements, drawing of noise maps, and prioritizing the engineering noise control methods using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). This study was a descriptive-analytical study that aimed to assess occupational noises and present a control plan in the City Gas Stations (CGSs) of Kerman, Iran in 2021. The present study was… More >
