    Masayuki Honda1, Kenichi Tatsumi2,*, Masaki Nakagawa3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.133, No.3, pp. 557-577, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020623

Abstract A model to predict photosynthetic carbon assimilation rate (A) with high accuracy is important for forecasting crop yield and productivity. Long short-term memory (LSTM), a neural network suitable for time-series data, enables prediction with high accuracy but requires mesophyll variables. In addition, for practical use, it is desirable to have a technique that can predict A from easily available information. In this study, we propose a BLSTMaugmented LSTM (BALSTM) model, which utilizes bi-directional LSTM (BLSTM) to indirectly reproduce the mesophyll variables required for LSTM. The most significant feature of the proposed model is that its hybrid architecture uses only three… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 2289-2308, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.029181

Abstract Accounting Information System (AIS), which is the foundation of any enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, is often built as centralized system. The technologies that allow the Internet-of-Value, which is built on five aspects that are network, algorithms, distributed ledger, transfers, and assets, are based on blockchain. Cryptography and consensus protocols boost the blockchain platform implementation, acting as a deterrent to cyber-attacks and hacks. Blockchain platforms foster innovation among supply chain participants, resulting in ecosystem development. Traditional business processes have been severely disrupted by blockchains since apps and transactions that previously required centralized structures or trusted third-parties to authenticate them may… More >

    M. El Sayed1,*, Wadia Faid Hassan Al-shameri1, M. A. El Safty2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.3, pp. 865-879, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020066

Abstract A soft, rough set model is a distinctive mathematical model that can be used to relate a variety of real-life data. In the present work, we introduce new concepts of rough set based on soft pre-lower and soft pre-upper approximation space. These concepts are soft pre-rough equality, soft pre-rough inclusion, soft pre-rough belonging, soft predefinability, soft pre-internal lower, and soft pre-external lower. We study the properties of these concepts. Finally, we use the soft pre-rough approximation to illustrate the importance of our method in decision-making for Chikungunya medical illnesses. In reality, the impact factors of Chikungunya’s medical infection were determined.… More >

    Xupeng Chen1,*, Zhuowen Sun2, Jianyong Pang1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.9, pp. 2489-2508, 2022, DOI: 10.32604/jrm.2022.019404

Abstract Mineral admixture concrete is a renewable material. It requires less cement than ordinary concrete and is thus beneficial for economical use of resources and environmental protection. To examine the impact of chloride salt on the durability of mineral admixture concrete under various conditions, in this study, test blocks are divided into two major groups: in one group, the test block is eroded by chloride salt on the interior and by sulphate/ magnesium salts on the exterior, and in the second group, the test block is eroded by external chloride/sulphate/ magnesium salts. Clean water is considered the control group. Dry-wet alternation… More > Graphic Abstract

Identification of Internal Damage in Circular Cylinders through Laser Scanning of Vibrating Surfaces

    Yisu Xi1, Binkai Shi2, Wei Xu1,3,*, Jing Ge4, Huaxin Zhu5, Dragoslav Sumarac6,7

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.16, No.2, pp. 163-177, 2022, DOI:10.32604/sdhm.2022.022082

Abstract With the aid of non-contact measurements of vibrating surfaces through laser scanning, operating deflection shapes (ODSs) with high spatial resolutions can be used to graphically characterize damage in plane structures. Although numerous damage identification approaches relying on laser-measured ODSs have been developed for plate-type structures, they cannot be directly applied to circular cylinders due to the gap between equations of motions of plates and circular cylinders. To fill this gap, a novel approach is proposed in this study for damage identification of circular cylinders. Damage-induced discontinuities of the derivatives of ODSs can be used to graphically manifest the occurrence of… More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.3, pp. 1103-1116, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.017273

Abstract The aerodynamics and heat transfer performance in the rear-mounted automobile cabin have an important influence on the engine's safety and the operational stability of the automobile. The article uses STAR-CCM and GT-COOL software to establish the 3D wind tunnel model and engine cooling system model of the internal combustion engine. At the same time, we established a 3D artificial coupling model through parameter transfer. The research results show that the heat transfer coefficient decreases with the increase of the comprehensive drag coefficient of the nacelle. This shows that the cabin flow field has an important influence on the heat transfer… More >

Internal Validity Index for Fuzzy Clustering Based on Relative Uncertainty

Refik Tanju Sirmen1,*, Burak Berk Üstündağ2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.72, No.2, pp. 2909-2926, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.023947

Abstract Unsupervised clustering and clustering validity are used as essential instruments of data analytics. Despite clustering being realized under uncertainty, validity indices do not deliver any quantitative evaluation of the uncertainties in the suggested partitionings. Also, validity measures may be biased towards the underlying clustering method. Moreover, neglecting a confidence requirement may result in over-partitioning. In the absence of an error estimate or a confidence parameter, probable clustering errors are forwarded to the later stages of the system. Whereas, having an uncertainty margin of the projected labeling can be very fruitful for many applications such as machine learning. Herein, the validity… More >

Abstract The Ball and beam system (BBS) is an attractive laboratory experimental tool because of its inherent nonlinear and open-loop unstable properties. Designing an effective ball and beam system controller is a real challenge for researchers and engineers. In this paper, the control design technique is investigated by using Intelligent Dynamic Inversion (IDI) method for this nonlinear and unstable system. The proposed control law is an enhanced version of conventional Dynamic Inversion control incorporating an intelligent control element in it. The Moore-Penrose Generalized Inverse (MPGI) is used to invert the prescribed constraint dynamics to realize the baseline control law. A sliding… More >
