    A. Sahaya Jenifera , P. Saikrishnana,*, J. Rajakumarb

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.17, pp. 1-8, 2021, DOI:10.5098/hmt.17.4

Abstract This paper examines the steady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow of water over a yawed cylinder with variable fluid properties and non-uniform mass transfer. The impact of viscous dissipation is taken into consideration. The velocity and temperature fields are governed by coupled nonlinear partial differential equations together with boundary constraints. These governing equations are converted to dimensionless form with suitable non-similar transformations and then solved using an implicit finite difference method and the quasi-linearization technique. The results indicate that the yaw angle enhancement declines the skin friction coefficient in the axial direction and the heat transfer coefficient. It is also ascertained that… More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, pp. 1-8, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.42

Abstract In this paper, a steady and laminar flow of ferrofluid (Fe3O4/Water) in a uniformly heated tube under the effect of non-uniform magnetic field arranged periodically along the tube is numerically analyzed using the finite volume method. The analysis sheds light on the flow pattern, Nusselt number, friction factor and the Performance Evaluation Criterion, at laminar flow regime (102Re ≤ 103 ) and for various magnetic numbers (Mn = 0, 2.83 · 104 , 6.37 · 104 and 1.13 · 105 ). The obtained results show that the magnetic field generated by periodic arrangement of the wire pitches, forces… More >

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.2, pp. 1423-1438, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.026057

Abstract An image can be degraded due to many environmental factors like foggy or hazy weather, low light conditions, extra light conditions etc. Image captured under the poor light conditions is generally known as non-uniform illumination image. Non-uniform illumination hides some important information present in an image during the image capture Also, it degrades the visual quality of image which generates the need for enhancement of such images. Various techniques have been present in literature for the enhancement of such type of images. In this paper, a novel architecture has been proposed for enhancement of poor illumination images which uses radial… More >

Robust and Reusable Fuzzy Extractors from Non-Uniform Learning with Errors Problem

    Joo Woo1, Jonghyun Kim1, Jong Hwan Park2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.1, pp. 1985-2003, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033102

Abstract A fuzzy extractor can extract an almost uniform random string from a noisy source with enough entropy such as biometric data. To reproduce an identical key from repeated readings of biometric data, the fuzzy extractor generates a helper data and a random string from biometric data and uses the helper data to reproduce the random string from the second reading. In 2013, Fuller et al. proposed a computational fuzzy extractor based on the learning with errors problem. Their construction, however, can tolerate a sub-linear fraction of errors and has an inefficient decoding algorithm, which causes the reproducing time to increase significantly. In 2016,… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 261-271, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.020076

Abstract A three-dimensional model for the numerical simulation of casing-cement behavior is used to investigate residual strength in the perforated casing of ultra deep wells. The influence of the hole diameter, hole density and phase angle on the residual strength of the casing under non-uniform stress and fracturing conditions is revealed through the consideration of different perforation parameters. It is shown that the residual strength of the casing increases with the hole diameter and periodically changes with the hole density; the phase angle is the main factor that affects the residual strength of the perforated casing, and the perforation should be… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.1, pp. 105-116, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.020049

Abstract An uncertainty analysis method is proposed for the assessment of the residual strength of a casing subjected to wear and non-uniform load in a deep well. The influence of casing residual stress, out-of-roundness and non-uniform load is considered. The distribution of multi-source parameters related to the residual anti extrusion strength and residual anti internal pressure strength of the casing after wear are determined using the probability theory. Considering the technical casing of X101 well in Xinjiang Oilfield as an example, it is shown that the randomness of casing wear depth, formation elastic modulus and formation Poisson’s ratio are the main… More >

Multi Chunk Learning Based Auto Encoder for Video Anomaly Detection

    Xiaosha Qi1, Genlin Ji2,*, Jie Zhang2, Bo Sheng3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.3, pp. 1861-1875, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.027182

Abstract Video anomaly detection is essential to distinguish abnormal events in large volumes of surveillance video and can benefit many fields such as traffic management, public security and failure detection. However, traditional video anomaly detection methods are unable to accurately detect and locate abnormal events in real scenarios, while existing deep learning methods are likely to omit important information when extracting features. In order to avoid omitting important features and improve the accuracy of abnormal event detection and localization, this paper proposes a novel method called Multi Chunk Learning based Skip Connected Convolutional Auto Encoder (MCSCAE). The proposed method improves the… More >

Single-Layer Wideband Circularly Polarized Antenna Using Non-Uniform Metasurface for C-band Applications

    Huy Hung Tran1,2, Khoa Nguyen-Dang1,2,*, Niamat Hussain3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.2, pp. 2487-2498, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016027

Abstract A single-layer design of non-uniform metasurface (MS) based circularly polarized (CP) antenna with wideband operation characteristic is proposed and investigated in this paper. The antenna is excited by a truncated corner squared patch as a primary radiating CP source. Then, a non-uniform MS is placed in the same layer with the driven patch. Besides increasing the impedance bandwidth, the non-uniform MS also generates two additional CP bands in the high frequency band, leading to significantly increase the antenna’s overall performances. The use of non-uniform MS distinguishes our design from the other CP MS based antennas in literature, in which the… More >

Study of the Combustion Process inside an Ethanol-Diesel Dual Direct Injection Engine Based on a Non-Uniform Injection Approach

    Liying Zhou1,2, Yu Liang2,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.1, pp. 159-170, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.010051

Abstract The use of ethanol is a promising method to reduce the emissions of diesel engines. The present study has been based on the installation of a gasoline electronic injection system in a single-cylinder diesel engine to control the amount of ethanol entering the cylinder during the compression (while diesel has been injected into the cylinder by the original pump injection system). The injection time has been controlled by crank angle signal collected by an AVL angle indicator. In the tests ethanol and diesel each accounted for half of the fuel volume, and the total heat energy supply of the fuel… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 3195-3213, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.012471

Abstract In this paper, the Galerkin finite element method (FEM) together with the characteristic-based split (CBS) scheme are applied to study the case of the non-linear Boussinesq approximation within sinusoidal heating inclined enclosures filled with a non-Darcy porous media and nanofluids. The enclosure has an inclination angle and its side-walls have varying sinusoidal temperature distributions. The working fluid is a nanofluid that is consisting of water as a based nanofluid and Al2O3 as nanoparticles. The porous medium is modeled using the Brinkman Forchheimer extended Darcy model. The obtained results are analyzed over wide ranges of the non-linear Boussinesq parameter 0 ≤… More >
