Efficient Route Planning for Real-Time Demand-Responsive Transit

    Hongle Li1, SeongKi Kim2,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.79, No.1, pp. 473-492, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.048402

Abstract Demand Responsive Transit (DRT) responds to the dynamic users’ requests without any fixed routes and timetables and determines the stop and the start according to the demands. This study explores the optimization of dynamic vehicle scheduling and real-time route planning in urban public transportation systems, with a focus on bus services. It addresses the limitations of current shared mobility routing algorithms, which are primarily designed for simpler, single origin/destination scenarios, and do not meet the complex demands of bus transit systems. The research introduces an route planning algorithm designed to dynamically accommodate passenger travel needs and enable real-time route modifications.… More >

Application of Automated Guided Vehicles in Smart Automated Warehouse Systems: A Survey

Zheng Zhang, Juan Chen*, Qing Guo

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 1529-1563, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021451

Abstract Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) have been introduced into various applications, such as automated warehouse systems, flexible manufacturing systems, and container terminal systems. However, few publications have outlined problems in need of attention in AGV applications comprehensively. In this paper, several key issues and essential models are presented. First, the advantages and disadvantages of centralized and decentralized AGVs systems were compared; second, warehouse layout and operation optimization were introduced, including some omitted areas, such as AGVs fleet size and electrical energy management; third, AGVs scheduling algorithms in chessboardlike environments were analyzed; fourth, the classical route-planning algorithms for single AGV and multiple… More > Graphic Abstract

Route Planning for Autonomous Transmission of Large Sport Utility Vehicle

    V. A. Vijayakumar*, J. Shanthini, S. Karthik, K. Srihari

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.1, pp. 659-669, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.028400

Abstract The autonomous driving aims at ensuring the vehicle to effectively sense the environment and use proper strategies to navigate the vehicle without the interventions of humans. Hence, there exist a prediction of the background scenes and that leads to discontinuity between the predicted and planned outputs. An optimal prediction engine is required that suitably reads the background objects and make optimal decisions. In this paper, the author(s) develop an autonomous model for vehicle driving using ensemble model for large Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) that uses three different modules involving (a) recognition model, (b) planning model and (c) prediction model. Abstract Nowadays, vehicular ad hoc networks (VANET) turn out to be a core portion of intelligent transportation systems (ITSs), that mainly focus on achieving continual Internet connectivity amongst vehicles on the road. The VANET was utilized to enhance driving safety and build an ITS in modern cities. Driving safety is a main portion of VANET, the privacy and security of these messages should be protected. In this aspect, this article presents a blockchain with sunflower optimization enabled route planning scheme (BCSFO-RPS) for secure VANET. The presented BCSFO-RPS model focuses on the identification of routes in such a way that vehicular communication… More >

    El-Sayed M. El-kenawy1,2, Zeeshan Shafi Khan3,*, Abdelhameed Ibrahim4, Bandar Abdullah Aloyaydi5, Hesham Arafat Ali2,4, Ali E. Takieldeen2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 2241-2255, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.026672

Abstract Recently, the path planning problem may be considered one of the most interesting researched topics in autonomous robotics. That is why finding a safe path in a cluttered environment for a mobile robot is a significant requisite. A promising route planning for mobile robots on one side saves time and, on the other side, reduces the wear and tear on the robot, saving the capital investment. Numerous route planning methods for the mobile robot have been developed and applied. According to our best knowledge, no method offers an optimum solution among the existing methods. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), a numerical… More >

Abstract Airline industry has witnessed a tremendous growth in the recent past. Percentage of people choosing air travel as first choice to commute is continuously increasing. Highly demanding and congested air routes are resulting in inadvertent delays, additional fuel consumption and high emission of greenhouse gases. Trajectory planning involves creation identification of cost-effective flight plans for optimal utilization of fuel and time. This situation warrants the need of an intelligent system for dynamic planning of optimized flight trajectories with least human intervention required. In this paper, an algorithm for dynamic planning of optimized flight trajectories has been proposed. The proposed algorithm… More >
