    Abstract Called island-crossing tunnels, some specific underwater tunneling projects face constraints imposed by geological and water conditions, necessitating their passage through artificial or natural islands.     Abstract This paper explores the smoke flow characteristics in tunnel fires, giving a particular emphasis on the effects of different distances between the smoke outlets and the fire source.     Abstract As the velocity of a train increases, the corresponding air pumping power consumption of the brake discs increases proportionally. In the present experimental study, a standard axle-mounted brake disc with circumferential pillars was analyzed using a 1:1 scale model and a test rig in a wind tunnel.     Abstract The aorto-ventricular tunnel is a rare congenital cardiac anomaly. We present a case of aorto-ventricular tunnel diagnosed via fetal echocardiography. Emergency surgery was performed on the 2nd day of life to close the tunnel, located just in front of the right coronary ostium, due to the patient’s unstable health condition. The postoperative period revealed complete occlusion of the right coronary artery. Due to the patient’s stability, we opted not to reintervene on the right coronary artery.
