    Abstract Cologania broussonetii (Balb.) DC. (Fabaceae) grows from the Bolivian eastern Andes to the north west of Argentina, Cordoba hills and San Luis Province. It is recognized as a native forage. The objectives of this study were to characterize the seed, the germination and the seedling of C. broussonetii. Seed structure was characterized through free hand sections and analyzed with optical and stereoscopic microscopy.     Abstract Pinus maximartinezii (Rzedowski) is an endemic endangered species, confined to a single population of approximately 2000 to 2500 mature trees. It covers about 400 ha in southern Zacatecas, Mexico. The success of tissue culture techniques for germplasm preservation depends on regeneration of cultures.     Abstract Scanning electron microscope (SEM) study of the pollen and seed morphology of Peganum harmala L. and Zygophyllum fabago L. (Zygophyllaceae), in native Bulgarian populations, was carried out. Additionally, a light microscope (LM) investigation on pollen grains was made in order to elucidate the peculiarities of the major parameters of pollen surface and size.     Abstract Cadmium (Cd) induces several effects in different tissues, but our knowledge of the toxic effects on organelles is insufficient. To observe the progression of Cd effects on organelle structure and function, HuH-7 cells (human hepatic carcinoma cell line) were exposed to CdCl2 in increasing concentrations (1 μM – 20 μM) and exposure times (2 h – 24 h).
