Abstract The over-deterministic method (ODM) is dedicated to calculate a small set of unknown coefficients from a large system of equations, by making use of a large number of data points. A displacement over-deterministic method (DODM) developed by Ayatollahi et al. [1] has been employed by for calculating the stress intensity factors (SIFs) as well as the coefficients of the higher-order terms in the Williams’ series expansions for cracked bodies. The ODM provides a great idea to easily obtain fracture parameters, combine with finite element method (FEM).

Subdivisional Modelling Method for Matched Metal Additive Manufacturing and Its Implementation on Novel Negative Poisson's Ratio Lattice Structures

    Ruiqi Pan1, Wei Xiong2, Liang Hao1,*, Yan Li1,*

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.30, No.2, pp. 1-1, 2024, DOI:10.32604/icces.2024.011651

Abstract As metal additive manufacturing (MAM) becomes more widely used in engineering, an increasing number of novel lattice structures are being developed. However, most recently developed lattice structures do not match the requirement of MAM efficiently. Based on the Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), comparing the mainstream implicit and explicit modelling methods, it is proposed to introduce a Subdivisional (Sub-D) modelling method to model lattice structures with better modelling versatility, 3D printability, and mechanical properties. To this end, a novel negative Poisson's ratio (NPR) structure is developed as an example to demonstrate the efficient and wide… More >

Abstract EVI2A has emerged as a significant biomarker in various diseases; however, its biological role and mechanism in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC) remains unexplored. We used TCGA and GEO databases to analyze EVI2A gene expression comprehensively and performed pan-cancer assessments. Clinical relevance was evaluated through Kaplan-Meier analysis and ROC curves. The gene’s immune relevance was explored through analyses of the tumor microenvironment (TME), Tumor Immune Single-cell Hub (TISCH), immune checkpoints, and immunotherapy sensitivity. Our results indicate that EVI2A expression is upregulated in KIRC, showing correlations with tumor grade and T/N/M stage. EVI2A demonstrates high… More >

    Qianqian Zhang1, Yingmei Li1,*, Jianjun Zhan2,*, Shan Chen1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 1251-1273, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.053892 - 15 October 2024

Abstract This research focuses on improving the Harris’ Hawks Optimization algorithm (HHO) by tackling several of its shortcomings, including insufficient population diversity, an imbalance in exploration vs. exploitation, and a lack of thorough exploitation depth. To tackle these shortcomings, it proposes enhancements from three distinct perspectives: an initialization technique for populations grounded in opposition-based learning, a strategy for updating escape energy factors to improve the equilibrium between exploitation and exploration, and a comprehensive exploitation approach that utilizes variable neighborhood search along with mutation operators. The effectiveness of the Improved Harris Hawks Optimization algorithm (IHHO) is assessed by… More >

Abstract Recognizing the variation of genetic resources is the first step in selection. One of the most important variations in grain crops is the uniformity of seed grain weight, which can be converted into seed size. However, it has been challenging since it needs high labor costs and time to measure it on a large scale. The current study used an image analysis technique to measure the grain seed area of about 100 seeds per accession with 64 germplasm of Tartary buckwheat (Fagopyrum tataricum) to study variation among and within them. To understand the nature of variation, More >
