    Yanchao Yue1, *, Tangbing Chen1, Lingling Zhang1, Moustafa Abdelsalam1, Josephine Musanyufu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 259-272, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.07218

Abstract Based on wave interference, a methodology to realize the total transmission phenomenon of SH0 waves is proposed in this paper. After a systematical theoretical investigation, an exact frequency of a flat plate consisting of another medium with finite length, is obtained, which is furthermore exemplified by the finite element method. This frequency is the same as the classical Fabry-Perot condition and dependent on the thickness of the material. It has been revealed that an SH0 wave, with its wavelength equal to twice of the length of another medium, can totally transmit across the medium without reflection. Especially when the impedance… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.117, No.1, pp. 1-16, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.04141

Abstract Cryptography and steganography are two important and related fields of infor- mation security. But, steganography is slightly different in the sense that it hides the ex- istence of secret information from unauthorized users. It is one of the most appealing research domains, have applications like copyright protection, data integrity protection and manipulation detection. Several steganography techniques have been proposed in literature. But, in this work a new information hiding algorithm is presented. The proposed technique de-correlates frequency components of cover image using discrete cosine transform and uses the least significant bits of frequency components for hiding secret information. The tech-nique… More >

Abstract The present study aims to explore the effects of p53 and its target gene Rap2B on the autophagy of U2OS cells. U2OS cells were treated with siRNA against p53, Rap2B, and PLCε. Relative expressions of p53, Rap2B, and PLCε were determined using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) and Western blotting, respectively. Levels of IP3 in the cells were determined using Enzyme-linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). Levels of Ca2+ were detected using Flow cytometry. Fluorescence microscopy was used to observe the autophagy of cells. Knockdown of p53 significantly decreased the expressions of Rap2B protein. Additionally, knockdown of p53 significantly decreased the mRNA… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.5, Suppl.1, pp. 31-38, 2017, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2017.634131

Abstract The objective of this study was to use soybean meal and 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE) to develop a highly water-resistant, soy-based bioadhesive for plywood fabrication. The physical properties and performance characteristics of the resulting adhesive, including solid content, viscosity, water resistance, crystallinity, fracture morphology, thermal behavior, and cracks, were evaluated. The proposed adhesive was compared against the traditional soy adhesive with polyamidoamine-epichlorohydrin (PAE). Results showed that adding 8 g of BDDE into the adhesive formulation improved the solid content up to 32.83% and reduced the viscosity to 27340 mPa·s. The wet shear strength of plywood bonded with the adhesive was… More >

    Xu Wang1,3, Jianhong Zhou1,2, Bo Pang1,2, Dawei Zhao1,2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.12, pp. 1363-1380, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.08218

Abstract Introduction of the strategy of anhydrous calcium carbonate protection incorporated with the drop by drop reaction, high-purity 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride ([Bmim] Cl) was prepared at reaction temperature of 80°C for only 10 h. Cellulose samples from different biomass sources (with different degree of polymerization characteristic) could be rapidly (no more than 10 minutes) and completely dissolved in the [Bmim] Cl using a microwave-assisted ionothermal route. Homogeneous cellulosic regenerates with high degree of polymerization and thermal stability characteristics were obtained through a coagulation process in water. Furthermore, the dissolved celluloses were readily regenerated into solid products such as casting films and spinning… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.12, pp. 1333-1346, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.07905

Abstract It is essential to design economic and efficient tougheners to prepare high-performance epoxy resin; however, this has remained a huge challenge. Herein, an eco-friendly, low-cost, and facile-fabricated bio-based hyperbranched toughener, carboxylic acid-functionalized tannic acid (CATA), was successfully prepared and applicated to the preparation of solvent-free epoxy resins. The mechanical performance, morphology, structural characterization, and thermal characterization of toughened epoxy resin system were studied. The toughened epoxy resin system with only 1.0wt% CATA reached the highest impact strength, 111% higher than the neat epoxy resin system. Notably, the tensile strength and elongation at break of toughened epoxy resin systems increased moderately… More >

    Pacheco-Aguirre J, E Ruiz-Sánchez, A Reyes-Ramírez, J Cristóbal-Alejo, J Tun-Suárez, L Borges-Gómez

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.85, pp. 1-6, 2016, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2016.85.001

Abstract Antagonistic bacteria used as biological control agent may loss effectiveness at the field due to environmental factors such as UV radiation, dryness and high temperature. An inexpensive alternative to protect antagonistic bacteria against such factors is the use of microencapsulating agents. In this work, the effect of microencapsulation of Bacillus subtilis with commercial gums on their antagonistic capacity against Meloidogyne incognita was evaluated. The efficiency of the microencapsulation was verified by the difference between the initial and final concentrations of protein release. The effectiveness as antagonist was evaluated against M. incognita in tomato under greenhouse conditions. The microcapsules based on… More >

Human umbilical artery smooth muscle exhibits a 2-apb- sensitive capacitative contractile response evoked by vasoactive substances and exprsses mrnas for stim, orai and trpc channelsa

    ANA ROCÍO ROLDÁN PALOMO1, PEDRO MARTÍN1, ALEJANDRO REBOLLEDO1*, NICOLÁS ENRIQUE1, LUIS E. FLORES2, VERÓNICA MILESI1

    BIOCELL, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 73-81, 2012, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2012.36.073

Abstract After depletion of intracellular Ca2+ stores the capacitative response triggers an extracellular Ca2+ influx through store-operated channels (SOCs) which refills these stores. Our objective was to explore if human umbilical artery smooth muscle presented this response and if it was involved in the mechanism of serotonin- and histamine-induced contractions. Intracellular Ca2+ depletion by a Ca2+-free extracellular solution followed by Ca2+ readdition produced a contraction in artery rings which was inhibited by the blocker of Orai and TRPC channels 2-aminoethoxydiphenyl borate (2-APB), suggesting a capacitative response. In presence of 2-APB the magnitude of a second paired contraction by serotonin or histamine… More >
