    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.2, pp. 349-368, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.025467

Abstract Calcium (Ca2+) plays a pivotal role in various signal transduction pathways. Calcineurin B-like proteins (CBLs) are a unique group of Ca2+ sensors that decode Ca2+ signals by activating the plant specific protein kinase known as the CBL-interacting protein kinase (CIPK). In plants, the CBL-CIPK signaling network regulates multiple signals in response to different extracellular cues including abiotic stress. However, the genome wide annotation and expression patterns of CBLs and CIPKs in woody cutting flower plants are still unclear. In this study, a total number of 7 CBLs (RcCBLs) and 17 CIPKs (RcCIPKs) genes, divided into four and five subfamilies, respectively,… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 777-789, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022811

Abstract Difenoconazole (DIF) is a representative variety of broad-spectrum triazole fungicides and liposoluble pesticides. However, the water solubility of DIF is so poor that its application is limited in plant protection. In addition, the conventional formulations of DIF always contain abundant organic solvents, which may cause pollution of the environment. In this study, two DIF/cyclodextrins (CDs) inclusion complexes (ICs) were successfully prepared, which were DIF/β-CD IC and DIF/hydroxypropyl-β-CD IC (DIF/HP-β-CD IC). The effect of cyclodextrins on the water solubility and the antifungal effect of liposoluble DIF pesticide were investigated. According to the phase solubility test, the molar ratio and apparent stability… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 991-1001, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.023584

Abstract Various crosslinking agents can be added to the formulations of natural-based adhesives for wood bonding in order to achieve better durability and higher strength of the formed joints. In the present study, the effect of hexamethylenediamine (HMDA) addition on the performance of liquefied wood (LW) adhesive for wood bonding is investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry showed the improved thermal stability and crosslinking of the LW adhesive with HMDA. The intensified presence of amide linkages (C–N bonds) was found in LW+HMDA with attenuated total reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Analysis of the bonded joints using an automated bonding evaluation system showed that… More >

Yuanchu Liu, Xiaodong Zhu, Zhengmin Jin, Yingying Liu, Qingjian Wei, Bonan Liang, Yingchun Cai*, Jingyao Zhao*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 567-580, 2023, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.023037

Abstract In this paper, the occurrence and development mechanism of strain on the cross-section during the wood drying is explored. Therefore, strain regularity on the cross-section of 50 mm thickness elm (Ulmus rubra) board at the temperature of 40°C and 80°C is detected via digital image correlation technology. Hence, the difference between tangential and radial strain at surface and core layers was denoted. The results showed that strain distribution in the width direction of the board is uneven. Moreover, a large drying shrinkage strain occurs at the near-core layer, while the maximum strain difference reaches 4.08%. Hence, the surface of the… More > Graphic Abstract

Nonlinear Electrical Impedance Tomography Method Using a Complete Electrode Model for the Characterization of Heterogeneous Domains

Jeongwoo Park, Bong-Gu Jung, Jun Won Kang*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 1707-1735, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020926

Abstract This paper presents an electrical impedance tomography (EIT) method using a partial-differential-equation-constrained optimization approach. The forward problem in the inversion framework is described by a complete electrode model (CEM), which seeks the electric potential within the domain and at surface electrodes considering the contact impedance between them. The finite element solution of the electric potential has been validated using a commercial code. The inverse medium problem for reconstructing the unknown electrical conductivity profile is formulated as an optimization problem constrained by the CEM. The method seeks the optimal solution of the domain’s electrical conductivity to minimize a Lagrangian functional consisting… More >

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.1, No.3, pp. 212-221, 2013, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2013.634119

Abstract A batch of linear [m,n]-type sugar-based polyureas was synthesized by polyaddition reaction in solution from hexamethylene diisocyanate or 4,4’-methylene-bis(phenyl isocyanate) with the acyclic 2,3,4-tri-O-methyl-1,5- diamino-alditols having L-arabino, or xylo confi guration or the bicyclic 1,6-diamino-1,6-dideoxy-2,4:3,5-diO-methylene-D-glucitol. The polymers were obtained in good yields and fair molecular weights. All these polyureas were semicrystalline materials showing well-defi ned melting transition within the 86−171°C range, with Tg s being dependent on the aliphatic or aromatic nature of the diisocyanate used, and on the cyclic or acyclic chemical structure of the sugar moiety. They were found to be stable up to around 240°C, decomposing at… More >
